  1. Oh yea, that is cool. The SM-79 is a true workhorse and you've done it justice. You must be chuffed with the finished kit.
  2. Nice work mate. The Mossie looks good no matter what markers you put on it.
  3. Nice work on the Spit Tony. I always liked this kit as a teenager. You did it real justice.
  4. I have their RAF Temperate Land Scheme set which has Dark Earth, Dark Green and Sky. I used SMS lacquer Dark Earth as the base as it has a darker tone than Mr Color, so worked like a preshade.
  5. Good looking Spitfire Mike. I get the feeling you might be building a RAAF Mk.Vc next
  6. Davey that's a great story to go with the specific aircraft. They recent recovered the wreck, or parts of, and there's plenty of great photos, stories and reference of it. Reading through the Osprey Havoc, Defiant and Blenheim Aces book I found the gunner was a Kiwi. 6 degrees of separation haha You can make it the night fighter version if you can get a 6 stack exhaust and make the serial # in dull red numbering.
  7. Kia Ora once again from NZ, not little Australia 🇳🇿 Another recent finish and one I'm supremely proud of as it's my all time favorite. This was made using Airfix's 1/72 Starter Set so few decals to speak of. Extras included: Eduard harnesses for the cockpit and a masking set from the same maker. Turret guns were from Quickboost which is a direct replacement for the kit parts. Exhausts, pitot and lower fuselage antennae from Quickboost also. A few extra panel lines were scribed on the rear fuselage and a bit of scratch building inside the turret to add extra depth (gun sight, control handles, gauges etc). Painted with Mr Color lacquers. Paint chipping using Humbrol Maskol and a small chunk of sponge for dabbing. Mig Ammo Dark Wash for the panel lines. Guns painted using AK Acrylic Gun Metal. Photo's taken with my trusty Samsung phone. Enjoy
  8. Kia Ora Everyone, hope lock down isn't hitting you too hard still. Finally a bird from my own back yard. I'd like to present my Hasegawa Dauntless in 1/72 which I finished on the weekend. Kit was based on the SBD-3 kit so pinched an old Airfix propeller -4. The prop actually has real nice detail to it but the blades needed a bit of re-profiling. I scratch build the cockpit wall structure with evergreen strip and detailed the engine with fuse wire ignition leads , Eduard etched Zoom set for the cockpit, resin wheels and aforementioned prop. Painted using Mr Color Intermediate Blue and Light Grey FS36495. Markings from Rising Decals RD72073 Kiwis of the Pacific. Superb decals, RNZAF fans recommended. Weathering kept to paint chipping using Humbrol Maskol, Mig Dark Wash for the panels and applicable paint fading/pre shading. Enjoy
  9. Good looking Corsair Simon. That last picture would make an amazing diorama
  10. Love the Tamiya 109E in 1/72. Such a joy to build at a low price. You've done a swell job Dmitry, keep it up.
  11. I feel like I've just walked up on a grass airfield circa France 1940. Super realistic, fantastic work.
  12. Fantastic Beaufighter. She looks decent with the thimble nose and worn look
  13. Seeeeensational, Great Aardvark.
  14. Great job Marcello, you should be proud of the finished kit as it sounds like a daunting one.
  15. Welcome back to the hobby Tony. Those are some phantastic Phantoms.
  16. Nicely built kits. My fave has to be the Be2.c,
  17. Absolutely gorgeous. Would love this in my cabinet.
  18. Fantastic build on the Me 262 Ian. Love the camouflage,
  19. Thanks everyone for the positive feedback and encouragement. Love the Britmodeller community, never gonna give you up.
  20. Great looking Lightning Mike, makes me want to get stuck into one of mine. Interesting Italeri now have the molds for this kit as the Academy kit was like hens teeth to find. We can only pray for Tamiya to downsize their awesome 1/48 P-38. But yea the Academy P-38 is the one to go for
  21. Smashing Swallow Zigomar. We could all take some tips on weathering just by looking at your pictures.
  22. Afternoon from a sunny winters day in New Zealand. This is my most recent build of Hasegawa's 1/72 Me 262A-1 in the markings of Oberstleutnant Heinz Bär — III./JG 2, Lechfeld, March 1945. Super happy with the final product as it was parked on the shelf of doom for a while due to loss of motivation and other non modelling projects. Don't feel bad if you park a kit, sometimes you just need time to reassess and recharge. Kit went together well overall with the fit of the engine cowls/pods giving me extra work due to the fits and reshaping due to think plastic around the intakes/exhausts which needed reshaping. Tamiya grey putty was applied on the wing-fuselage join underneath but easily sanded smooth once hard and rescribed. Cockpit was details using Eduard etched detail set. Canopy was sanded smooth due to a few imperfections, buffed then dipped in Johnsons clear before being masked up. Mould lines cleaned up on landing gear parts along with the Brassin resin wheels after their removal from the pour blocks. Model was undercoated with Mr Surfacer 1200, painted using Mr Color RLM 76 Light blue, RLM 82 green and RLM81 Brown Violet. I added a drop of red brown to the RLM81 as wasn't happy with how olive it looked. Markings from Xtradecals which are perfectly thin and opaque, no bleed through of the underlying camo colours. They were applied on a gloss coat and adhered flawlessly. Go easy on the strong decal setting solutions as the decals will react and distort quickly if overworked. Decals Sealed in with another gloss coat before dull coating using Tamiya Satin Varnish. Weathering was made by preshading panel lines with a dark grey, then post shading after main colours applied (a drop of white here, drop of darker tone there). AK Interactive panel liner and MIG dark wash for recesses, along with grime around the wing root. I used Ammo's acrylic Dio Drybrushing paint Light Metal for the silver chipping. New product for me and I really liked it, do recommend. AK Landing Gear Dust Effect used for the tyres to really give the tread that 'pop'. Landing gear bays were painted RLM 02 instead of silver to add a bit of depth to the otherwise bare space. 🙄 Landing gear legs and most doors attached with either small dots or Gorilla glue or Ammo's extra thin cement. The latter was a new product for me too and I'm impressed, use a mask though. WHOA! Extras purchased for build: Eduard etched prepainted set SS600 Eduard precut canopy mask Brassin resin wheels 672159 Xtradecal sheet X72269 Hope you enjoy the pictures of this iconic aircraft. I look forward to building more late war aircraft, especially Airfix's Mosquito and Tempest due this year. Kia Kaha Brad
