  1. I love the Electra/Orion/Aurora and you shot is great, as it is not all grey! Thanks for sharing.
  2. Hi Mark I'm delighted that you enjoyed them. The weather was changeable, but the show was indeed one of the better ones in recent times. Sorry to rub it in! The organisers have a lot to live up to! Hi James. Thanks for the kind words. The Vampire was so graceful, wasn't it? I'm delighted that it was a last-minute stand in. I found the interview with the pilot fascinating as well.
  3. Hi Colin. I'm so pleased you enjoyed the images. It was a truly amazing experience and I only wish that I had been able to video the take offs as well to catch the exciting g sound of all those Merlins, which really made my neck hairs stand up! I post some of my other favourite images this evening. Thanks for the kind words, 112. I'm delighted that you enjoyed my re ord of a truly amazing occasion. Thanks so much Steve. I'm really pleased that you enjoyed them.
  4. Hello 112. Yes, the Hind honours the wartime 311 Squadron, with the Liberator portrayed on one side and a Wellington on the other. I'm pleased that you enjoyed the pictures.
  5. Man, oh man! I simply love the attention to detail in your work! I'm sure your client will be delighted!
  6. Lovely model of an awesome aircraft. I remember some news footage of this jet landing with the damage. What an incredible design!
  7. Epic indeed, Parabat! It was an incredible sight and sound. (The Hind was still, awesome, though!) NO, NO, NO! (Well perhaps if there were a few more Hurricanes!) I'm pleased that you enjoyed them, Dick.
  8. Hi all Much as I really appreciated the Czech Air Force displays at the Battle of Britain Air Show, the absolute highlight for me was the finale with a streamed take off of what the commentator referred to as the "Duxford Big Wing". There were twenty Merlins in the formation (sixteen Spitfires and four Hurricanes), plus one Griffon in the 1945 Supermarine Spitfire F.XIVe which acted as the "joker", carrying out a solo display as the big wing formed up. "The joker" Thanks for looking. I can post pictures of the other show participants, if anyone would like to see them!
  9. Some really interesting and varied types in gorgeous scenery! Thanks for sharing.
  10. Fantastic photo essay, Mark, wonderful to see some Tornados again - I'm very envious (from a grey and cool Duxford!)
  11. Thanks exdraken, the Czech guys are certainly supporting plenty of events this year! Thanks very much, Steve. I'm pleased you think so! It is very overcast and slightly chilly at Duxford this morning, so I'm hoping for an improvement before the show starts!
  12. Thanks very much, Colin! I can't wait to go back tomorrow. (Fingers are firmly crossed for the forecast sunny intervals!)
  13. Thanks Parabat. I'm pleased you like them! The "swishing" sound is truly memorable. Thanks very much, Mark. I saw the display at RIAT, but was delighted to be able to see the crewing in today and the display was so much closer at Duxford. Tickets for tomorrow are still available until midnight tonight!
  14. Hi As soon as I saw that the Hip and Hind would be displaying at the Battle of Britain Air Show, I had to buy a ticket! I decided to visit on Friday as well, hoping to catch some arrivals and practice displays. The helos were in front of the American Air Museum, so I headed straight there and waited patiently until about 1130, when the engines started. I hope you like my record of their practice display (I'm not too happy due to the unfavourable conditions at Duxford!) Thanks for looking. I'm back at Duxford tomorrow for the show proper.
  15. Wow! What a result. (I would be a bit scared of all that spaghetti though!)
  16. I'm hoping to spend some time there on Friday for some rehearsals and maybe the Czechs on the ground before the show....
  17. Having worked closely with the USCG over the years, I LOVE this! Thanks for posting, Steve.
  18. Great selection of types that made the mammoth road trip worthwhile!
  19. Thanks very much for the kind words, 112. I'm pleased you enjoyed them. I'm back at Duxford this coming weekend, so standby for more excuses about non-ideal photographic conditions!
  20. A great record of a wonderful show with a glorious back drop. Thanks for sharing! I love the mixed formation.
  21. I agree, it is a wonderful show with a fantastic atmosphere - like Old Warden. I have seen lots of complaints online about the height and distance of some of the displays, but I love all the topside passes and to me this makes it one of the best air show venues in the UK, since the dog leg passes at Old Warden seem now to be the exception rather than the rule.
  22. I was at Little Gransden with my wife on Sunday and we saw a Spitfire take off and form up with the Dragon as we passed Duxford about 1130. Little Gransden pictures
