Great photos as always @Alpha Delta 210
Its good to to see the October airshow back at Duxford after a long break. Was it well attended?
Thanks
James
Thanks very much, James. I'm pleased you enjoyed them! Yes, it was a sell-out and I understand that some visitors took 2 hours to leave the North Car Park - you would think that the IWM would have done it enough times to get it right!!
It was an odd, hybrid event - neither a Flying Day nor an Air Show, which meant that visitor numbers were restricted and there were just a handful of traders and food vendors. Members had to pay (Flying Days are free) and there was no car park charge. Members were permitted to park in the Visitor Centre car park, which was reserved for disabled visitors only at the previous Flying Day.
All in all, a fabulous end to the season in beautiful weather!

Cracking shots there, lovely light this time of year. I heard the Typhoon in Cambridge whilst out in my garden.

Thanks for the kind words, Gazza. I'm pleased that you enjoyed them. Did you hear the Swiss, as well?

Thank you so much, Colin. It was great to be treated to two displays by Patrouille Suisse in such gorgeous weather. I'm pleased you enjoyed the shots.

Thanks for posting Leigh. I agree the Mustang yop shot is very good but the Hurrican with the propellor vortices is an outstanding piece of photography.

Thanks very much, Colin. You really are too kind!

Great shots of two of my favourite types.

What can I say? What an amazing day - gorgeous weather, warbirds, aerobatics and fast jets!
Without doubt, an excellent end to my air show season.
I hope you enjoy some of my favourite shots from the day (in the inevitably tricky Duxford light!)
Patrouille Suisse made an appearance in the morning, which we were told was for familiarisation only, but they treated us to what seemed like their full display!
The second appearance of the day!
Thanks for looking, these were just a few of the (ahem) 1700 images I took - and I was trying to be disciplined!

Another quality Duxford montage Leigh and your fondness for the Hurricane clearly comes through! Like others, I also like the P-51 topsides but they're all superb shots and were graced by some nice Autumnal light.
BTW Just seen the Patrouille Suisse overfly my house headed south, so at least I now know where they were going!
Cheers for now.
Mark
Thanks very much Mark, I was a little disappointed at using a day's holiday and not seeing the Patrouille Suisse, but today more than made up for it!

Outstanding images! The Hurricane shots are fantastic as is the Mustang topside. Shame about the Suisse Patrouille having to cancel as they always put on a great show.
Thanks very much, Latinbear. I was disappointed with missing the Swiss yesterday, but was delighted to see them display this morning. They are scheduled to display at 1533 this afternoon and the weather is glorious!

Thanks very much, 112. I will post some from today's full display this evening.

Lovely photos, very enjoyable. I particularly enjoyed the Yak-18T, a type that seldom features & is a character aircraft to my mind, one I have a kit of. The Hurricane photos are stand outs too, among a whole panoply of stand outs.
Steve.
Thanks for the kind words, Steve! I'm really pleased that you enjoyed them.
I love the Hurricane, but my favourite shot is the Mustang top-side.
I was astounded when I got in the car and the temperature showed 20°C, because the blustery conditions made me value the layers and hood!!

Stunning pictures as ever, the Hurrican is great! Superb skills, thanks for sharing these.
You're too kind, Parabat! I was disappointed not to see the F-5Es of the Patrouille Suisse, but it was still a good day despite the wind gusting to 32 knots!

Well, unfortunately not because they were weathered in at RAF Waddington! I was assured that they will complete their display validation tomorrow!
However, I made the most of the day....
I love the vortices!
I make no apologies for the number of shots of G-HHII / BE505, because I took one of the first passenger flights in her in September 2020!
"The Flying Comrades"
Thanks for looking. I hope you saw something of interest!
I hope Patrouille Suisse can beat the weather tomorrow!

Like it? I absolutely love it!
Excellent model, brought to life by skilful photography.

Beautiful build of a stunning plane in a stylish, but simple scheme!
I'm sure that your friend was delighted with it.

I absolutely love it and agree with all of the above comments about the weathering. In my opinion, a pin wash would give your gorgeous scale model the appearance of a die-cast toy.

The conditions certainly look "tricky" - much like most of the shows in the UK (especially Duxford!)
Great catch on the Hornet popping flares and the first A400M shot is very dynamic.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks AD. Unfortunately, Ontario was too far away and is a trip in itself. With luck, I'll go next year and perhaps be fortunate to fly in the Lancaster.
That's on my bucket list too, after chasing the CWHM Lancaster "Vera" around the UK in 2014!

@Alpha Delta 210 yes it’s funny how contact with a type can foster affection. Pilots can get seduced that way too. Seriously though I think that’s arguably the best Lizzie photo I have seen. Thanks for showing it
Thanks very much, John. I am very grateful for such kind praise.

It certainly seems that way!

Looks like an excellent little museum. Thanks for sharing.

Lovely photos. Agree the head on Lysander is great. Quite how you managed to make the Lizzie dynamic is beyond me but you have ! She wasn’t flying straight and level with you falling off the ladder at the time
Nicely composed.
I like the or Spitfire shot too. Good timing and composition with the wings level to the cloud colour division. Nice
Hello John. I'm so pleased you like the images and am highly amused by the "dynamic" comment!
I did a Classic Wings "Wing to Wing" flight with the Lizzie last year and as a result must confess that I have become mildly infatuated with the type!!
It is difficult to come up with "different" shots at Duxford (or any other air show venue), but out of the series that I took of the Spitfire, that image stood out to me due to the wings and the cloud division.
Thanks again for the kind words.

Excellent set AD! The head on of the Hind shows off its menace very nicely and the head on the Lysander is a beauty!
Thanks very much, Latinbear!
I must confess that your two favourites are also my two favourites!

That's so kind of you to say, John. I'm delighted that you enjoyed them.
The show on Saturday must rank as one of the best (non-Legends) Duxford shows of recent years with a couple of unusual mixed formations, the Czechs and of course the fabulous "Duxford Big Wing".

Duxford Flying Finale, October 2022

That's a shame. I was monitoring their movements on Fighter Control, but was still taken by surprise when they appeared over the M11 for their "familiarisation"! The leader was using the callsign "Tiger 1".
