Great shots of two of my favourite types.

What can I say? What an amazing day - gorgeous weather, warbirds, aerobatics and fast jets! Without doubt, an excellent end to my air show season. I hope you enjoy some of my favourite shots from the day (in the inevitably tricky Duxford light!) Patrouille Suisse made an appearance in the morning, which we were told was for familiarisation only, but they treated us to what seemed like their full display! The second appearance of the day! Thanks for looking, these were just a few of the (ahem) 1700 images I took - and I was trying to be disciplined!

Thanks very much Mark, I was a little disappointed at using a day's holiday and not seeing the Patrouille Suisse, but today more than made up for it!

Thanks for the kind words, Steve! I'm really pleased that you enjoyed them. I love the Hurricane, but my favourite shot is the Mustang top-side. I was astounded when I got in the car and the temperature showed 20°C, because the blustery conditions made me value the layers and hood!!

You're too kind, Parabat! I was disappointed not to see the F-5Es of the Patrouille Suisse, but it was still a good day despite the wind gusting to 32 knots!

Well, unfortunately not because they were weathered in at RAF Waddington! I was assured that they will complete their display validation tomorrow! However, I made the most of the day.... I love the vortices! I make no apologies for the number of shots of G-HHII / BE505, because I took one of the first passenger flights in her in September 2020! "The Flying Comrades" Thanks for looking. I hope you saw something of interest! I hope Patrouille Suisse can beat the weather tomorrow!

I absolutely love it and agree with all of the above comments about the weathering. In my opinion, a pin wash would give your gorgeous scale model the appearance of a die-cast toy.

The conditions certainly look "tricky" - much like most of the shows in the UK (especially Duxford!) Great catch on the Hornet popping flares and the first A400M shot is very dynamic. Thanks for sharing.

Hello John. I'm so pleased you like the images and am highly amused by the "dynamic" comment! I did a Classic Wings "Wing to Wing" flight with the Lizzie last year and as a result must confess that I have become mildly infatuated with the type!! It is difficult to come up with "different" shots at Duxford (or any other air show venue), but out of the series that I took of the Spitfire, that image stood out to me due to the wings and the cloud division. Thanks again for the kind words.

The show on Saturday must rank as one of the best (non-Legends) Duxford shows of recent years with a couple of unusual mixed formations, the Czechs and of course the fabulous "Duxford Big Wing".
