Hi
Just returned from WH Smith and noticed that there some articles that might be of interest in "Britain at War".
"Buccaneer Britain's Last Bomber"
"German Heavy Bombers Over Britain"
"The Airfields That Never Were"
"Bad Luck Comes in Threes"
Here is the link

Hi
May I join with a from the box build of a 1/48 Eduard Weekend Edition I-16 Type 24?
-
Ooh ooh! Can I get in with a Thunderbirds F-16A in either 1/72 or 1/48? Or maybe a Blue Angels F/A-18A in either scale?
Phil.
Hi Phl
Welcome aboard! Why not do a Thunderbird and a Blue Angel in each scale?!
OK would like to join in as wellHave been on a 1/72 Hunter building spree so far have done 111 Sqn and Rough Diamonds GA11
I fancy a nice red Belgian one now
Hi Graeme
Good to have an entry from Australia. A red Belgian Hunter sounds fantastic.

Thanks for joining up, Busdriver. Looking forward to your mysterious entry!

Oh, go on then. It'd be rude not to. I feel a Sea Vixen in "Simons Sircus" colours, in an in flight display
I like the sound of that! Welcome aboard. Not long to wait now (for a date anyway!)

Hi Antony
Just to reaffirm my interest from the original thread. I'd like to join with the Revell M&S Lancaster, built out of the box except for BBMF Phantom of the Ruhr decals from the Xtradecal sheet "Ton Up Avro Lancasters". This will complete my 1/72 BBMF line-up.
Looking forward to it!
Happy New Year.

Signing up! Got two things to play with: Both HobbyBoss, both 1:72, both United Statesian. Blue Angels F-18 and Thunderbirds F-16
Welcome aboard Basosz! I like your choices. I saw the Blue Angels at Leeuwarden and the Thunderbirds at Fairford.
More details of this GB to follow soon....

Great start, Mish, I'm looking forward to seeing the finished article.
Good luck with the decals!
"Hi Mark, if the photo I have posted above is one of your's then I have already nicked them"
The picture is mine!! Here is a link to my thread with other shots of this special bird for anyone else starting the Italeri kit.

Thanks, Jabba. A quick build only slowed down by the Christmas interlude!
-
Thanks for the feedback, guys, I'm pleased that you like her.
-
Very nice indeed - not an easy build, but yours looks fab. I like the streaks coming back from the vortex generators on the wings, a nice touch. The Jag's not too shabby either, by the looks of it.
Thanks Davec, I used a cotton bud to streak the Raw Umber wash whilst it was still wet. Glad you liked her (and the Jag!)
-
Thanks for the kind comments, guys; she certainly was not an easy build! I need a break before tackling my next brick!!

Hi
I'm calling my 1/72 Airfix Buccaneer with Modeldecal XV Squadron decals finished! My short build thread is here.
I enjoyed the build, but was disappointed with the fit of the various parts, which are not up to modern standards. I elected to remove all the raised detail, but so much filler was required around the nose and tail, that I lost all the detail there as well.
She was brush-painted in the 1974 scheme of gloss Dark Green (H163) and gloss Dark Grey (H164) over gloss Light Aircraft Grey (H166). I struggled to find reference pictures that clearly showed the camouflage patterns on the slipper tanks, so a little educated guesswork was employed. All these paints are satin, so I applied a coat of Klear, followed by a wash of W&N Raw Umber to tone things down and blend everything together. It made me realise how much I miss the varied camouflage schemes of bygone years.
The decals were a little troublesome (particularly the yellow stripes) as they were quite old, but I got there in the end.
The canopy is not glued in place, so I can pose it in different positions.
I have the 1/48 version in the "to do" pile, but I don't think that I'm ready for another Bucc just yet!

I know that the Buccaneer was a large aeroplane, but putting her next to the svelte lines of the Jaguar really emphasises her size.

I hope you like her. She's not perfect, but she looks like a Buccaneer to me!

Looks great, Dave. I particularly like the finish of the exhaust. How did you achieve that?

Intriguing!
-
Hi James
That's a tricky one!
I am a huge fan of the BBMF. I have enjoyed building the BBMF line-up (BBMF RFI), but I was hoping for a Group Build of colourful, specially-marked aircraft.
-
are what ifs valid?
Hi
Whifs are welcome! What do you have in mind?
I'll join dont know what I'll build maybe Concorde with the 9 red arrows....Now you're talking!
Do you have to build a whole team ?Hi Andrew
It's not compulsory, but could be fun, if a little time consuming!
Are you interested in joining?
-
Thanks, rkennerley.
We just need two more members to make this viable.
Would anyone else like to join?

Hi
I would like to join with either a Revell F-4F, or an Hasegawa F-4J/S "Ferris Camouflage" or a Fujimi RF-4E Woodpecker all in 1/72. If I am feeling really brave I might tackle a 1/32 F-4F picked up in the MZ sale last year for £15.
