  1. Thanks Metallicus. I needed to touch up the white in a couple of places, but this evening I hope to give her a coat of Klear before applying some of the decals.
  2. Hi all I have peeled off the Tamiya tape and painted the canopy. I have mauled the kit seat (not yet installed) so that it is a fairer representation of the real thing. The canopy, nose cone and wheels are all located temporarily. Sow's ear to silk purse? Not quite, but she is starting to look the part. I can't wait to liven her up with those colourful decals! It's such a shame that work gets in the way...
  3. Oh yes, I'm not patient enough for long, drawn out builds! It has to be out of the box for me!
  4. Hi After a brushed on coat of US Gull Grey, the little Corsair is starting to look the part. I had forgotten how much I liked that grey over white US Navy scheme.
  5. Dear All We have been allocated June 2nd - September 2nd 2012 for this Group Build - that leaves plenty of time for planning, preparing and possibly purchasing! 6. Thanks Pompeo, I'm just about to paint the first grey coat.
  7. Hello again I managed to prime the Corsair before the light faded this afternoon and will use the white primer with a couple of coats of Klear as the white coat for the underside. I will probably get the first coat of Humbrol 129 US Gull Grey brushed on during "Dancing on Ice" this evening. Unlike my recent Airfix 1:72 Buccaneer build, I have decided to leave the raised detail on this model.
  8. Hi Moofles I wanted to take part in the Vietnam GB, and this was the first kit that I found in my to do pile that fitted the bill!
  9. Hi Iain I like quick builds from the box, as I am like a big kid who likes to see the models take shape rapidly! This one needed more filling and sanding than I was expecting from a Hasegawa kit, which has slowed me down a bit. I will be finishing the model in the same markings as the box art. Hi moofles It is not the best-fitting Hasegawa kit, but the big, colourful decals should disguise some of the poor fitting parts!
  10. Hi again I gave her a quick spray of Halfords White Plastic Primer so that I could see which areas needed attention. I have now filled and sanded the problem areas and hope to finish construction and apply primer this afternoon. Thanks for looking.
  11. Hi I have now attached the wings and am a little disappointed at the fit. I am about to fill the gaps on the wings and fin with Squadron Green. I hope to get the Halfords primer on today, as it is a fine day and I do my spraying in the garden!
  12. Love it, Mish - glad you were able to use my pictures taken at Waddington last year.
  13. Thanks for the feedback, Si, I'm glad you like the canopy and the 'pipe.
  14. Hi I have spent some time sanding off the flash and sprue gates and am now at the clamping stage. I filled the nose with lead shot and Blu Tack which will hopefully prevent tail-sitting. The plastic is very shiny and quite brittle.
  15. Hi I am going to build the rather ancient Hasegawa LTV A-7A Corsair II from the box with the kit decals for the CAG bird of VA-56 "Champions" (bureau no 152675). I will probably start building this evening and continue tomorrow evening during "Dancing on Ice"! April 29 and 30, 1975: The USS Midway, with the A-7As of the "Champions" embarked, participated in Operation Frequent Wind which was the evacuation of American citizens from Saigon, South Vietnam. Here is the starting point:
  16. Hi Please count me in with the rather ancient Hasegawa LTV A-7A Corsair II. I will build it from the box with the kit decals for the CAG bird of VA-56 "Champions" (bureau no 152675). 17. Hi This was a super-quick build to fill the gap between New Year festivities and the Group Build season starting! I dropped the nearly completed model on the kitchen floor and broke the canopy, which despite my best efforts, would not fit properly afterwards. I know that the canopy is too dark, but as I don't own an airbrush, I resorted to dipping it in Tamiya Smoke. Next time, I will thin the paint a little! The kit includes Sidewinders for the wing tips, which I understand were never fitted, but Hasegawa does not include the Air Combat Maneuvering Instrumentation (ACMI) pod for the starboard wingtip. I tried to simulate the shiny metal gradually changing into the heat affected metal on the jet pipe. I finished her off with a thin Raw Umber wash. A fun build of an unusual Viper subject.
  18. Hi Please see below some pictures of "Just Jane" at East Kirkby. I have many more, so if there is a particular shot that anyone needs, please let me know.
  19. Hi Please count me in with the rather ancient Hasegawa LTV A-7A Cosair II. I will build it from the box with the kit decals for the CAG bird of VA-56 "Champions" (bureau no 152675). 20. Hi I would like to join with either a Revell F-4F, or an Hasegawa F-4J/S "Ferris Camouflage" or a Fujimi RF-4E Woodpecker all in 1/72. If I am feeling really brave I might tackle a 1/32 F-4F picked up in the MZ sale last year for £15.
  21. Hi Just returned from WH Smith and noticed that there some articles that might be of interest in "Britain at War". "Buccaneer Britain's Last Bomber" "German Heavy Bombers Over Britain" "The Airfields That Never Were" "Bad Luck Comes in Threes" Here is the link
  22. Hi May I join with a from the box build of a 1/48 Eduard Weekend Edition I-16 Type 24?
  23. Hi Phl Welcome aboard! Why not do a Thunderbird and a Blue Angel in each scale?! Hi Graeme Good to have an entry from Australia. A red Belgian Hunter sounds fantastic.
  24. Thanks for joining up, Busdriver. Looking forward to your mysterious entry!
