  1. I'm sorry, Scarlet. I did acknowledge your first post, but missed you off the list. You name is now on the list, so you are coming in!!
  2. Hi All Thanks very much to you all for showing such an interest in my proposal and particularly to Antony who has offered to help host the GB with me. We haven't been allocated a date yet, but this is the cunning plan at the moment: Military and cilvilian teams (and support aircraft) in addition to solos and what-ifs, as long as they are in special markings. From now on, I will only update the list of participants in Post #7 on Page 1, so that it is easier to find. We have been allocated June 2nd - September 2nd 2012 for this Group Build - that leaves plenty of time for planning, preparing and possibly purchasing! The participant list is as follows: Antony Robertson (co-host) andy wood markmarples Mish charley420 CliffB Gajman F111Fan ollieholmes davidsm wkennerley IoanRam smyfe rkennerley RAF Colonel mrv6 Andrew Jones Deon Basosz chadders Busdriver Phil B Graeme H worm Paul J Tony Whittingham Julien Séan Pádraig I look forward to updating you with dates and further details in the near future.
  3. Wow, that is some selection to choose from Julien! It is funny that you should ask about support aircraft, as I was thinking earlier that it would be nice to see a "Fat Albert" or "Turkish Stars" Transall! What Ifs are also welcome - I'm hoping for lots of different types in diverse, colourful schemes!
  4. Sounds interesting, Sean. Welcome aboard. We are getting some exciting proposals for this GB!
  5. Hi Paul. There's always room for more! My idea was for military or civilian display teams , whether solo or multiple, fixed wing or rotary wing, as long as they are in special markings. This should make for a varied and interesting selection of subjects. Hope you can join us with your Sabre. Sounds interesting Scarlet. Welcome!
  6. Thanks for the comments guys - she certainly brings some colour to my otherwise camouflaged cabinet!
  7. Thanks Mish & F-32. I don't know when the kit was first released, but the low parts count, raised panel lines and poor fit would make me think 1970s? Having said that, I did enjoy the build and am satisfied with the end result!
  8. Thanks for the compliments, guys. I'm glad you like her. It is such a shame that most air arms have moved away from individual colour schemes towards shades of grey and toned down insignia. I might have to dig out an F-14 and finish it in grey over white!
  9. Thanks, Woody. I knew that the Buccaneer was a big old bird, but I was surprised by the size difference, as well.
  10. Hi I have finished my SLUF for the Vietnam Wars GB. The WIP is here The kit wasn't great, but the decals were fine. And finally, I thought that it would be nice to pose her with her British equivalent and my only other modern US Navy aircraft - an F-16N. I hope you like her.
  11. Hi I have finished my SLUF (which I think is a very unkind nickname for a very beautiful, reliable and capable aircraft!) The fit of this Hasegawa kit was not very good and the raised detail left a bit to be desired, but pleasingly the decals went on without a hitch. I hope you like her.
  12. Hi I applied a couple of very thin W&N Raw Umber washes yesterday, as I wanted to tone everything down, lift the surface detail and achieve some subtle weathering. Whilst the wash was still wet, I used a cotton bud to streak the grime in the direction of the airflow. I know that it is not very clear in the pictures, but I didn't want her too dirty. I have just applied a coat of W&N Galeria Satin Varnish to finish her off (pictures tomorrow.) Thanks for looking.
  13. Hi Brenden I have only dabbled in PE (with moderate success!), so you have my respect! I hope to "wash" the Corsair tomorrow. Thanks for your interest.
  14. Glad you like her, Pompeo. The construction and decalling phase is now complete. The outboard pylons and bombs weren't quite so problematic! I plan to complete her with another coat of Klear, followed by a thin Raw Umber oil wash to accentuate some of the engraved detail and to blend everything together and tone the colours down a bit. I had hoped to finish her this evening, but I think that I need a break from her now!
  15. Thanks Metallicus, I am now chilled out after my exasperation with the bombs!!
  16. Hi Thanks for the feedback, Ancient Mariner - the old dog has just driven me to distraction, as I could not get the bombs to fit to the pylons without breaking off a bomb that was previously fixed - aargh! I have decided to take a break and some solace in a nice chilled bottle of Bulmers, before tackling the outboard pylons during "Dancing on Ice"!
  17. Thanks for the comments Smuts and Metallicus. I have applied the decals to the tanks and fitted them; attached the gear doors and Sidewinders. I'm definitely on the home straight now - just needing to apply some decals to the outside of the nose gear doors and the inside of the main gear doors, plus fitting the ordnance.
  18. Thanks Shar2. She has turned out better than I thought she would!
  19. Thanks Daz. It is not a great kit, but the decals were problem-free!
  20. Hi I haven't had much free time to work on the Corsair this week, but I have managed to get the decals on. Despite their size and complexity, they all went on without a hitch. I applied a coat of Klear to the model and then when that was dry, I applied some Klear to the immediate area that the decal was going to be applied to. This seems to work for me. I will hopefully finish her today by applying the pylons and stores and applying a thin Raw Umber wash followed by coat of W&N Acrylic Satin Varnish .
