  1. Hi The fuselage halves are now glued together. Here is a comparison of the old and new kits (new kit nearest to camera, with exaggerated panel lines!)
  2. Hi The fuselage halves and wing sections are now glued and I have just "clipped " the wings in place for the pictures - no filler required!
  3. Thanks, Madmonk. The engraving is a bit excessive, but apart from that it is a nice kit to my eye.
  4. Hi I have completed the surgery that allows the installation of the arrestor gear in the rear fselage.
  5. Hi This should be a quick build. The breakdown of parts is very different to the new mould.
  6. Hi This is my contribution to the Group Build. My inspiration is the Shuttlworth Collection's airworthy example... Please see below the box shot, and contents... And one of my references... I will be building straight from the box, using the kit decals. I will simultaneously be building the "old mould" Airfix IIc in BBMF SEAC markings.
  7. Hi I am building this "old mould" Airfix Hurricane IIc alongside the new kit Sea Hurricane, which will be my contribution to the Battle of the Atlantic GB. This kit came from the "Mickey the Moocher" boxing, which I am building for the Lancaster STGB. So far, I have painted the various pieces on the sprue and hope to start construction this afternoon. As with all my builds, this will be built purely from the box.
  8. Looking good! It certainly looks more impressive than the Hasegawa A-7A that I built for the Vietnam GB!
  9. Hi Room for one small one?! May I join the fun with another Airfix Sea Hurricane, built straight from the box?
  10. Hi. Is it too late to join? I will probably do the previous BBMF scheme or maybe the Camel Train - decisions, decisions!
  11. Hi I have applied around half the decals so far. They are typical of that generation of Airfix decal, being quite thick, but she's starting to look the part. I don't think I will apply much weathering to her, as I want her to look fresh! I still need to attach the canopy. I plan to finish her off tomorrow.
  12. Hi I used Microscale Black Trim Film purchased from Hannants for the princely sum of £2.03 for the canopy framing. I had not used trimmed decal strip before, but I am converted. On this model the strips are too thick and should be painted green and brown, so please forgive me! I applied a little Klear to the piece if frame that I was tackling and then just moved the strip into place. I had been planning to use the Experts Choice Clear Decal Film from Hannants, but it was out of stock. I thought that the black Trim Film would be suitable as the internal framing on the real aircraft is black. I had no problem applying the Humbrol enamel, to the decal sheet which of course did not require sealing before immersing in water. I still need to stick down the canopy. I have applied two coats of Klear to the model and plan to apply the decals tomorrow.
  13. Hi The list continues to grow! I have updated the participants list at Post #7 on Page 1. I wonder if any 1:32 Hawks might be saved for the GB?!
  14. Welcome aboard, Dan. I will add you to the list later.
  15. I thought that I had them all, but ended up adding the P-51D Mustang Workshop Manual to my basket for £12.99!
  16. Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I will take a trip to Halfords and compare them on the chart.
  17. Hi Everything is now stuck on, but I need to touch up some of the paintwork. Despite my earlier misgivings, I am now quite pleased with the way she is turning out. I still need to paint the decal strips for the cockpit glass and stick the tail guns back on. I think that I will take a break and resume tomorrow.
  18. Hi Just received an email from Amazon to notify me of the release of the B-17 Haynes Owner's Workshop Manual on February 2nd. Amazon If you have not seen this series before, I can recommend them for modellers, as there are lots of detailed colour pictures. I have pre-ordered mine.
  19. That is stunning! Great to see the classic BOAC scheme.
  20. Hi I have attached the engines to the wings and despite my best efforts, I was left with a large gap on the top of each engine. I know that there is a panel line there, so I decided to fill the gaps with PVA to avoid sanding. The vertical stabilisers, the engine fronts and the bomb aimer's bubble are presently held in place with Blu Tack. I still need to attach the bomb bay doors (closed) and the gear doors.
  21. Thanks, Antony. They say that the camera never lies, but in this case, the pictures are HUGE porkies!! The Airfix kit is not bad for it's age, but I am struggling to make a decent Lancaster - to the extent that I had considered giving up on her and using one of my M&S Revell kits with the Airfix decals. However, I have now reached the point of no return and WILL finish her as "Mickey the Moocher"!
