  1. Well, she's finished and I'm very happy with her. The tow strop is thread from a Roman blind and the camo nets are pieces of bandage with added mixed herbs! There are more pictures here. Thanks for looking.
  2. Two weddings? Every man's idea of a perfect weekend! You missed a great show. Hi Rick. Unfortunately, I only have these two that might be of use to you from Sunday's show. If you need any more, I will have a look at my shots from other shows. I will post the "Memphis Belle" pictures in a new thread this afternoon.
  3. Thanks, Rick. I must have hundreds of pictures of "Sally B" taken at various shows over the years! I will post a few of the underside taken on Sunday later today in this thread. I have a few pictures of the real "Memphis Belle" in a disassembled state taken in Memphis a few years ago before the National Museum of the US Air Force reclaimed her. I can post them in a new thread, if you're interested.
  4. Thanks, Mark. It was pretty special to see all those striped Daks together!
  5. Beautiful! I have a real soft spot for Leyland, AEC, Foden, Scammel and ERF - but Mack? Per-lease!
  6. Thanks, Ian. I hope you're pleased with your pictures. Thanks, Longhorn. As I was taking the pictures of '434, I wondered if you were at the show.
  7. Lovely photo-essay. I have only been to Bruntingthorpe once - when the Victor slipped the surly bonds of Earth!
  8. Thanks Lee and Sean for taking the time to comment. I'm really pleased you like the model. I have now added some stowage to both sides (in between decorating the house!) I need to add some pigment dust, but I am conscious not to over do it - as we know, less is often more!
  9. Thanks Kallisti. I have looked at lots of pictures on the Internet and have decided to "break up" the rather heavy bar armour by attaching some stowage. I agree that Airfix have done very well within the limitations of the technology, as I wouldn't have been able to do what you're doing with your Scimitar. Thanks Parabat. I have applied a second Raw Umber wash - next step pigments!!
  10. The (over-scale) bar armour is on. Next stage - another wash and final weathering.
  11. Thanks, guys. It was pretty special to see that number of Skytrains/Dakotas lined up on the ground, let alone in the air!
  12. Your bar armour looks the business! I love the look of that Bronco Buffalo. I have fallen head over heels with the Husky, after spending about 30 minutes drooling over one at Duxford yesterday! I'm sure that I had seen a 1/35 kit of one recently, but research has drawn a blank!
  13. Thanks Parabat. The Warrior has had a wash and now looks dirty - counter-intuitive?! Next step is to apply the bar armour.
  14. Thanks Parabat. I'm pleased you enjoyed the pictures. Hi Steve. Thanks for taking the time to comment. The striped Typhoon and Spitfire were quite a sight weren't they? I agree that the Army display was good. I spent ages admiring the Husky and learned a lot about it from the RLC sergeant. Unfortunately, there was no Warrior on display, which is a shame as I'm just finishing the Airfix one. Hi Ian, yes the weather was very kind (despite the forecast!) Glad you got to enjoy the show anyway.
  15. Hi Spent an excellent day at Duxford today with a mate. Here area few quick edits. As you can see, the weather was very kind, Thanks for looking.
  16. Hi Paul. I'm impressed - I had to look up the Navion, as I had never seen one before! I understand that two of the Skytrains had made the trip from the USA. That's good. Excellent. A friend told me that he stayed to the end to see the C-47s and did't regret it. Pleased you had a good day. I'm going tomorrow.
  17. Thanks, Sean! I've just applied a Raw Umber oil wash to pop the detail.
  18. Hi Tim Thanks for the kind words. I have two Nikon bodies and two lenses - the oldest body is a D80 with a Nikkor 28-200mm VR (Vibration Reduction) lens attached. I tend to use this for taxying shots and formations/large aircraft. I can hand-hold this at shutter speeds as low as 1/40 which means excellent prop-blur on stationery aircraft. My second body is a D7000 with a Nikkor 300mm prime lens. This is a non-zoom and non-VR lens, which does sometimes require some swift swapping with the D80 for larger aircraft or formations! Hope that helps.
  19. Quick update - decals and Klear applied. Next stage - weathering. Some touching up on the wheels required!
  20. Thanks to all for the encouraging words! I tend to go to Duxford on the Friday before every show, Simon. As a Friend of Duxford, I get in free and if I'm lucky, get to see a lot of flying!
  21. Thanks very much, guys. I hadn't noticed the props on the Twin Otter, but you're right, Parabat it looks as if someone has pulled a couple from the spares box after losing the originals to the carpet monster! I had been planning to go to the show today, but the forecast is so bad that I'm postponing my visit until tomorrow.
  22. Hi I'm pleased to have booked the day off work, as I had a wonderful day at Duxford. Here are a few of my pictures: Thanks for looking.
  23. That's a great-looking model! Certainly beats low-vis grey schemes, in my opinion. Well done.
