  1. Excellent result on such an old kit. Your paint finish is sublime.
  2. Amazing model and your "playing around" is very effective!
  3. Absolutely sensational, Tom! Has your daughter forgiven you for the raid on her diamanté stash?
  4. Lovely shots, Jon. I was at East Kirkby and the Typhoons broke to land over "Just Jane".
  5. Hi Jonny. I'll give you the NHS Spitfire!!! I would have chuckled at the young lad and his toy! Mind you, despite the countless visits I make to Duxford, the Merlin sound effects on AirSpace always make me want to charge outside! To be honest, Pete you didn't miss much, but I'm pleased that you enjoyed my drizzly record!
  6. Yes, that seems the most likely explanation, Chris. In the past few years, I think it has moved from near the pedestrian entrance of the hangar into its present position which made me think that work was going to resume....
  7. Thanks for the kind words, Houston. I'm pleased that you enjoyed the images and hope that you can visit Duxford soon!
  8. Hi Mark. Yes, it was one of several aviation events cancelled yesterday due to the weather - such a contrast to the glorious weather last Thursday! I agree that the Victor looks stunning and I can't wait to see her when she has been reassembled.
  9. Thanks Parabat! The bonus is that as an IWM Member, the ticket was free! I'm not familiar with 'The Shepherd'. Is it worth watching?
  10. Thanks James, I'm pleased that you enjoyed them. I'm afraid that I don't know what is happening with the Beau, but would love to see it in the air some time!
  11. Hello again! I took a chance on the weather forecast being wrong and drove to Duxford for the D-Day Flying Day. The forecast was wrong, in that it didn't rain all day, but was drizzly most of the day with poor visibility! Flying was scheduled from 1320 hours, but nothing happened and there were no announcements on the public address system. One of the IWM volunteers told me that they expected an announcement at 1400 hours regarding the weather. As it turned out, the only movement of the day was the Staggerwing which started up, taxied to the hold and then returned to parking and shut down. At this point, I cut my losses and headed for home! However, all was not lost, as I had a mooch around and grabbed some images with my phone instead! Hoorah - a running engine!!! Thanks for looking.
  12. Hi Chris. As soon as the the blank-firing drills started, my friend inserted ear plugs, but it was too late for his left ear. I use two (now out-dated!) Nikon full-frame bodies, one with a Nikkor 24-120mm zoom for static and taxy shots and the other with a Nikkor 80-400mm zoom for the flying shots. The Typhoon images were quite tightly cropped (as was the BBMF Lancaster!)
  13. We were too far away (and as my friend suffers from tinnitus, which was set off by the blank-firing Lee Enfields) we were probably fortunate!
  14. Thanks for the kind words, Mark! For some reason, I enjoyed the the "Sally B" display more than usual, perhaps due to the intimacy of the venue and the apparent close proximity of the display compared to Duxford? True to form, the BBMF fly pasts were further away and seemed higher than the B-17. I had a really enjoyable day and as Chris said above, seeing all those Typhoons was "the cherry on the cake!"
  15. Thanks for the kind words, Colin. East Kirkby is like a time machine and with the live 1940s music, I was soaking up the atmosphere.
  16. Hi Chris. Yes, it was a great day! I didn't think that I would have to decide where to look, but when the Typhoons appeared as Jane was taxiing, I was genuinely conflicted! Ten Merlins, four Wright Cyclones and a squadron of EJ200s kept me buzzing on the long drive home!
  17. Thanks very much, Parabat! I'm really pleased that you enjoyed them. I would have loved to have been up there with the Typhoons!
  18. Hello all I spent a charming day at East Kirkby on Thursday for the "Lanc, Tanks & Military Machines" event. Visitors were treated to tank firing demos, several taxy runs of the Lancaster and the Mosquito, a full display by "Sally B" and some flypasts by the BBMF Lancaster. To top it all, the Typhoons that had participated in the Jubilee Flypast broke to land at Coningsby over East Kirkby. When I visited East Kirkby last summer, "Just Jane" was missing her wing tips, so it was great to see her intact again. A thoroughly enjoyable day in glorious weather, and excellent value at £14! One of the "military machines" at speed.... B&W or colour? Thanks for looking!
  19. Absolutely stunning Jug! Much as I love the 56th FG, it is great to see your bird in a different suit of clothes!
  20. Excellent build of an unusual-looking tractor. It almost looks like an illustration in a children's reading book! Great work as usual! I would love to see your cabinet!
  21. A nice variety of participants in variable weather! I would love to see that Cobra. Thanks for sharing.
