  1. Thanks very much, gunpowder! There is at least one other airworthy Wasp, which was scheduled to appear at the show, but it had a technical problem so didn't participate. However the remaining three still put on a great show despite the inclement weather!
  2. Thanks for the kind words, Parabat. The Gazelles put on an excellent display and I loved hearing and seeing the Wasps. I had never seen the South African veteran before.
  3. Hi Colin. I'm delighted that you enjoyed my record of the day. I really enjoyed the various helicopter displays, but like you I wouldn't normally consider myself a fan! Thanks for the kind words, Chris. I was a little disappointed that the weather took a turn in the afternoon, but as you say, the sky does add something to the images! Thanks very much Andy. I'm pleased you enjoyed them.
  4. Evening all! Here are some of my favourite images from an excellent line-up at Old Warden yesterday. The day started with beautiful sunshine, but the clouds rolled in as the show started and culminated in a sharp shower as the wonderful Wasps displayed. There should have been four Wasps in the formation, but one went tech before departing for Old Warden and the Fighter Collection's Wildcat took off to participate in a formation with the Bearcat and Corsair, but reported a minor problem with his canopy, so departed for home at Duxford. The actor Robert Lindsay was in the Navy Wings enclosure Thanks for looking!
  5. Awesome build of one of my favourite post-war types.
  6. Absolutely stunning model with a touching story. I'm sure your customer will be over the moon.
  7. Well, you certainly overcame the challenges and produced an outstanding model! The 'pit looks great!
  8. They served during Overlord as well and they are (rightly) remembered at the American Cemetry at Madingley. I've always thought that if I had been a US citizen, I would have joined the USCG as they seem to do a bit of everything! I understand that some "Coasties" are now serving in the US Navy SEALS.
  9. I love to see USCG models as I have had the privilege to work with them over the years and your helo is super! As for the question of military/not military, the answer is that the USCG is part of the Department of Homeland Security during peacetime, and operates under the Navy during times of war.
  10. Ouch, that is an expensive splash! Very authentic-looking, though!
  11. A great tribute to a brave crew. Interesting images of the real "Elsie".
  12. Correct, Ian it is one of the stalwarts of the Classic Wings fleet.
  13. The Mail Online has published a "story" about the incident in the inaccurate and sensationalist style that one would expect! (I have chosen not to paste a link!)
  14. Absolutely flawless finish! I would never know that the windscreen was a "challenge"!!
  15. Found this on Cambridgeshire Live: https://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/news/local-news/iwm-duxford-summer-air-show-24266554
  16. Thanks, neither can I. It looks as if the air show is proceeding, so thankfully it must have been a minor incident.
  17. Great model with an important personal connection (and I love the "airport"!)
  18. It is being reported on UKAR that there has been a non-injury incident at Duxford today involving a Dragon Rapide. https://forums.airshows.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=87198&start=100 I can't find any corroboration. Does anyone have any more information?
  19. Lovely selection. That paint finish sure is matt! Thanks for sharing.
