  1. You are not the only one mate with unfinished kits dating back to 1999!!! I have about a dozen resting in my personal scale modelling 'Davis-Monthan'!!! Beautiful work. Cheers, Bill
  2. Good to know. As an alternative to my suggestion. Cheers, Bill
  3. Hi Elias, in 1/48, it won't be that hard to replicate them (I guess with Humbrol 47). Cheers, Bill
  4. Hi Alex, I've been through the same process many years ago for the twin-seat and I can't say it was a pleasant experience. But it does offer some lessons like, never attempt to modify a cockpit when the plastic is too soft (Revell), or too hard (ESCI). If I manage to upload one of my other builds, I will show you my cockpit for the two-seat F-5. I still haven't managed to put everything together. Cheers, Bill
  5. Hi John, Did you read the decals' instruction sheet? Because the actual paint scheme was Aegean Blue and Silver underneath not grey. The early F-5s had the original seat and later on during the 80s and 90s they exchanged it with the Martin-Baker Mk. Q7 (with a slightly modified headrest) the one that F-104s had and the Mk.10 (same as the one the M2000s have). Cheers, Bill
  6. Like I said in my initial post, when you read the name "DaveJL" you know you're going to see a beautiful build!!! Man, what a beauty in black!!! Can't wait to see her finished!
  7. I'm leaning towards the 35177. Why don't you try first both colours on a piece of plastic to see if they match? Cheers, Bill
  8. Beautiful work so far John, How is life these days in the beautiful island of Paros? Is it true that it has a lot of tourists (as well as the other Greek islands) and therefore this will be a good year for the sector, or is it all media mumbo-jumbo to attract people? Cheers, Bill
  9. Yeap! But eventually I got it for free Dave. Now, I'm in the process of building the two-seat Legacy Hornet from VFC-13. Not an easy task because the more you research a subject and particularly the FS colours, the more you get confused. I used to follow a method called "triangulation" to confirm for instance an information or detail, but now due to lack of free time I tend to build kits without any prior research.
  10. From which book have you drawn this assumption, and is it still available? Is it from a book specifically for the Kfir?
  11. Was it cloudy when you took the photo outside, because all of them look kind of 'bluish'. Cheers, Bill
  12. There are a few advertised/available on eBay. I recently ordered mine from Spain for 19 euros (without shipping).
  13. Cheers mate. I've read in an Italian magazine that there were C.2s that's why I wrote it.
  14. I concur. These are napalms. The F-100s/ USAF also had them painted red.
  15. In 1/72 you should definitely buy the AMK kit. It's the newest mould available in the market. Though, I do not know if you can backdate it into a C.1 or convert it to an F-21 - however, I think the F-21 was actually a C2. As for the ESCI Kfirs and F-21. Well, first of all the supposedly F-21 it's not an F-21!!!! It requires a lot of modifications. The alternative is to combine the conversion set that Isradecals produced several years ago with the ESCI Mirage IIIE. As for the Kinetic kit, I have no idea what its like, though I am tempted to buy one!!
  16. No worries mate! It was this sheet: https://www.scalemates.com/kits/fightertown-decals-48051-desert-bogeys-f-18a-b-f-5e-f-vfc-13-vfa-127--239876 It was an American seller on eBay. I paid the dude, and then he played the French "je ne sais quoi" and didn't reply to my emails, so I asked eBay to refund me, which they did. After a couple of weeks and while discussing the specific sheet with a fellow scale modeller from arc forums, he told me he got the sheet and that he could give it to me free of charge!!!!! He only kept the decals for the Mig-28, which I didn't want anyway! Talking about being lucky! Cheers, Bill
  17. 1/32 is a beautiful scale, but as you go bigger more things/details are becoming apparent and therefore require more work. I have several 1/32 kits in my stock (somewhere in the attic) but these are for much later in my scale modelling "career"!!! Cheers, Bill
  18. £87 for an 1/48 kit, that's nothing. I have spent £60 for a set of decals' sheet! Irrespective of the price range - which by the way, shouldn't be so high but, that's another story - and the fact that I like the GWH kit, I still prefer my Hasegawa and Revell Eagles. Nice kits, overall accurate and with adequate ordnance.
  19. It might be humble, but it still is the best F-5E out there in 1/72! And the only disappointment with their 1/72 F-5F is the rear cockpit.
  20. That is a good question. Actually both colours have been used by the Israelis and the USAF Aggressors, during different periods. Having said that, and if my memory serves me well, they (USAF Aggressors) first used the 34227 and then, the 34258. Just my two cents. Cheers, Bill
  21. Long shot... but perhaps, it came from an F9F-2?
