MPM/Special Hobby have had a 1:48 Firefly IV/V on the stocks for some time, but no details on release dates yet. I'm interested!

It was in the MZ in Brighton today.

I've just got an Ark Hurricane 1 from Relish. According to the box side they are doing/have done a Sea Hurricane as well. In my kit, which I have not had a chance to look at properly there is a ready marked bit to cut out and it looks as though you can do a Sea Hurricane from the kit. The finish of the kit seem OK - fine panel lines etc but I cannot comment on the fit yet. It's cheap too - i paid £12 so it might be worthwhile getting this and having a go? Otherwise as other commentators have said its the Airfix one and a conversion kit or the Hasegawa one - which is pretty rare now and if you can find one very expensive.
Good luck!

The thought of a 1:48 Hunter series (or Tempest) - or both - makes me go all weak at the knees!
Ever hopeful

zero - Falcon did a 1:48 vacform of a Swift FR5 which I have in the stash. It is supposed to be very good. But I agree that it would be nice to have an injection moulded one - after all it is availalble in 1:72 scale!
How about it Heritage??

Colin - great news! Thanks

Ali - how about a conversion for the Aiffix Sea Vixen FAW2 to a Sea Vixen FAW1. I know that MPM have an FAW1 on their lists but no sign of it for the forseeable future??
John
Ali - delighted to hear that there will be an FAW1 conversion!

Thanks for the reply john.
I'll build it soon, it will be my first full resin kit, but I also want the bulldog, and the chipmunk when ready.
So pictures of your build would be nice? Do you have a build thread.
Dave
If I knew how to put a pic into a build thread, I might do. But I don't so it is unlikely, unless anybody can advise???

I am slowly (emphasise slowly) building the JP3. It goes together well although I had a bit of a problem with the port side tip tank - but that is now sorted. Me rather than the kit I think. Enjoy!

Wish it (and the Wessex and Balliol) was in 1:48 scale as well!

Thanks Ali - just what I needed to cheer up a grey English morning! Also thanks for the Tucano ( info from the e-mail) which looks very nice. Will you be at the Hornchurch show?

There won't be any aircraft left in the RAF at this rate!

That is wonderful and so well deserved of the ******s

There is also a reference to Airfame producing a 1:48 Gnat, JP5 and Tucano, but I've not seen anything else yet.

Well done Upnorth for selecting the Hurricane - it was the right aircraft for its time. But whether it was the best fighter is another question. Personally I would go for the Tempest or Sea Fury because they are so good looking!

I believe that there is such an aircraft included as a bonus kit - along with the Rotodyne and Gazelle - with the Anigrand Sentinel kit (all in 1:144 of course)

I have been following with interest the thread on the best fighter, and it set me thinking on what do BMers think was the best looking military aircaft of all time. For my money, the Tempest, Sea Fury, Sea Hawk and Hunter must be in the running but it would interesting to hear what others think.
Over to you!

Nobody really expected Airbus to get the contract did they? Even though the A330 is better - but what's that got to do with it! The Europeans need to get together a bit more and do their own thing.
