  1. I'm not sure that I agree with all this slagging off of Anigrand. I have several of their 1:144 kits - the V bombers, Nimrod etc. To my eye they look perfectly good. Ok the fit is not all that wonderful sometimes, but neither is it on many mainstream injection kits. Anigrand provide an alternative to vac form models and as I am sure you will remember there were some pretty desperate vac forms at one time, abd an experience of those will have put people off big time from trying them. VC10 advice

Bump - any advice please? John
  3. I've got the following 1:48 Corsair sheets which I no longer want: Sky 48043 which has a selection of FAA/RNZAf and Aeronavale Corsairs Aeromaster 48-400 Corsairs of the British East Indies and Pacific fleets Techmod FAA Corsair II Pl pm me if interested. John
  4. Good morning, I would welcome some advice on VC10s please. I saw that most useful advice on the recent topic about the VC10 K4 conversion. I want to do a standard VC10 C1 or C1K - my question is do these have the extended wing leading edges and uprated Conway engines? My reason for asking is not to doubt the earlier advice but I took some photos of XV106 at the Biggin Hill Airshow last year, both in the air and on the ground, and it is not immediately clear whether it has the extended leading egdes or not. Thanks for your help. John
  5. The Minicraft C130E /H is pretty good and the are are the the Airdecal dark earth/tan markings for it! Or there are the Welsh Hercules multi media kits. HTH John
  6. Ray from 26 Decals tells me that he is doing RAF Transport Command decals for the Brit. My kit is en route from la belle France. John
  7. I've not heard of GT Models, but of course Anigrand do a Valiant in 1/144 scale as do Welsh Models. And CMR did a series of Shackletons - AEW2, MR3 and again Welsh Models do an AEW2. HTH John
  8. What are 4 Sqdn flying - balsa gliders?? John
  9. Aren't Minicraft doing a C130J pretty soon? Welsh Models do a C130J in RAF guise as a C4 or C5, which I am currently making. This has the metal 6 blade props. Only the fuselage is vac form - the rest is either resin or white metal. HTH, John

    Airfix 2012

There is little doubt in my mind that a ne 1:48 Hunter kit is necessary. The Academy ones are not easily vailable in the Uk and as is well know sufer from a series of (correctable) faults. To take note of an earlier post, just think what could be done - an F4/5 with no wing LE extensions and small Avon, an F6 with LE extensions, the T7 and FGA9/FR10. All of thsse could be done with a standard centre section of the aircrfat plus the relevant add ons. Go for it Airfix and make a lot of people very happy indeed! John
  11. I got too excited at the porospect of all those that I mentioned and forgot to mention Meteor 4-14 variants! John
  12. The usual suspects .... Javelin, Swift FR5, Scimitar, Firefly IV/V, Hunters 4 to 11, Tempest in 1/48. Larger military aircarft such as Beverly, Argosy, Lincoln, V bombers all in 1/144. PLEASE no US aircraft - there are surely enough F this and that around! Lets go British for once. John
  13. Will anybody do RAF Transport Command decals for the Brit?? John
  14. They do look good, but as I still have a CA FB5 I shall pass on these, but the FB9..... Good luck to Ali for his enterprise! John

    Airfix 2012

A lot of interesting comments and wants. Will Airfix do as they did at the end of last year and make a formal announcement of their 2012 programme around Christmas time. No doubt BMers going to SMW will swamp the Airfix stand and ask the question? For those of us not going to SMW, can you report back please..... Thanks, John

    Airfix 2012

Good morning, I'm not sure if this is the right place for this topic or not, so please forgive me if I have got it wrong! Anyway, I don't know how many of you look at the Cybermodeller site, but if not it is worth having a look at although it is heavily US weighted. But today there is a report on the iHobby expo with some detail on planned new releases for 2012. For Airfix they show the 1:48 Army Lynx (release in first quarter of 2012) and the Merlin (release in third quarter of 2012) as part of their Afghan war related issues, which we were aware of. But they also say that 2012 will be the year of 1:48 for Airfix. Apart from the Navy and Army Lynx and the Merlin I wonder what else they have in mind? Start drooling at the thought of a Swift FR5, Gannet AEW 3, Javelin......... I'm going for a rest now! John
  18. Hi Paul, Could these be part used on an RAF T2?? Thanks, John
  19. I've just been told about flightracker.net. This gives details of civil aircarft movements over most of the world. Try it - its fun! Or is this old news? John
  20. I've just received my Hunter T7 conversion from Ian. It was only ordered on Friday and arived today - what service! Thanks Ian. I've had a quick look at it - and it looks like a 2 seat Hunter should! Thanks again Ian. John
  21. Or a Gannet AEW3........................Lets hope that it is BRITISH anyway! John
  22. Either a Scimitar, Swift or Javelin!!! Here's hoping.... John
  23. Hi MBers, With the news that F-Resin are producing a 1:144 scale Britannia 300 series kit, albeit in civil markings, does anyone who knows about these things, tell me whether these are the same as the RAF Britannia's (which I think were 253 series?). Does anybody do RAF Britannia decals?? Thanks, John
  24. Mike - that is an inspiration to start mine! Absolutely super. John
