  1. I'd be grateful for thoughts on the range of 1/72 MPM Meteors. I gather that the Xtrakit F8/Airfix F8 are in fact the MPM kit? Thanks, John

    Tornado

Good evening Bmers, I want to purchase a 1/72 Tornado F3 and GR1/4 for my collection. I know that some of the maufacturers of these are either Hasegawa or Airfix. Which of these is best? All comments very welcome! Thanks, John
  3. I've just seen the Osprey again! This lime flying low in a westerly direction. This time the engines were in the hover mode but the aircarft was still moving forwards! What is it doing - giving demo rides to potential customers at Farnborough?? John
  4. A V22 Osprey went over my house in West Sussex yesterday, altitude about 2000 feet, heading south west. Where had it come from - where was it going? John
  5. What has happened to all the Hurricanes? The BobMF always seem u/s and the others never seem to get mentioned when airshow pics are shown. John
  6. NO sign of the kits yet - or the Modellers Data File. Does anybody have any info on release dates, other than 'in the Spring'? John
  7. I'm waiting for the RAF decals for my Brit - Ray?? John
  8. LIAT - Luggage in another terminal John BA - Boeing always (but not so true these days!)
  9. Danielle - forgive an ignorant Pom but what is a sook?? But I agree with the sentiment! John
  10. Sounds like a chicken and egg situation to me! John
  11. It's spring now! Me again - when with the MDF on the Firefly be available. It's been 'coming soon' for yonks! John
  12. Nice pictures. When ARE BA going to get shot of those clapped out old 737-400's? The last one I flew in was decrepit inside! I did ask the Captain (when on the ground) when the -400's would be replaced. If I remember rightly he said that a decision was being made - either new A320s or 737-800s(!). Better to keep with Airbuses for maintenance/spares purposes rather than introduce a new type?? Has anybody heard what is in mind? the -400s are going on 35 years old - and showing it! John
  13. Just wanted to tell BMers what wonderful service Colin at Freightdog gives. I ordered my Hunter F4 decals on Saturday, they arrived today! Thank you Colin - and they are VERY nice decals too for a lovely aeroplane. John
  14. Something I had not thought of so worth considering. I am unsure if others who had already done Vulcan (etc...) decals in 1/72 might be better placed to scale down rather than us starting from scratch. I just googled that Tempest- very nice. Do you have any pictures as what I actually found were profiles and Flight Simulator images. Best Regards, Ed Grantham Unfortunately other decals provider seem less than interested in the V bomber suggestion. Re the Tempest I don't have any more info that you do, although that scheme was includes in the Profifak version of the Tempest that was issued last time around. Indeed how about a selection of silver Tempest schemes?? Thanks, John
  15. Well there are certainly plenty of wants here! But I spy a gap, particularly in the scales being suggested. Although I model in 1:48, I also do 1:144 for the larger aircraft. So how about 1:144 V bombers both in camo, white and anti-flash schemes, and others such as RAF Britannias etc etc. And finally - and it is outside your time frame - that lovely NMF Tempest V J5-E SN330 of 3 Sqdn with the emerald green codes. Now that would be nive and go with the recently released Eduard kit. Here's hoping... John
  16. Hi BMers, Does anybody know the likely release date of the 1:48 Special Hobby Fairey Firefly series? Thanks, John
  17. Put me down for the Special Hobby Firefly! John
  18. A 1:48 Firefly at last! Whoopee! Isn't this the sort of thing that Airfix should have done.......? John
  19. I wonder if Airfix - or any other manufacturer - reads these views...... John
  20. Nothing much of any great excitement for me at least. John
  21. As far as I am concerned a very poor and disappointing selection - certainly as far as those of us who 'do' 1:48 aircraft kits. Nothing new at all! And why do they persist in ever more Spitfires, Mustangs and Bf109's! At least there could be interesting kits from other manufacturers such as the MPM Firefly. So Airfix will not be doing very well from me either. John
  22. For me the Airfix FAA Lynx and RAF Merlin, plus the Fireflies, plus of course anything of interest that might be announced next year. With best wishes to BMers for Christmas and happy modelling for next year. John
  23. Special Hobby - who I think are part of the CMK/MPM group - have had a Firefly IV/V shown as a new release for some time. So I hope that this is a precursor to that release! John
  24. What is the under fuselage 'pod'? ?? I've not seen anything like that on Hawks before. John
  25. I see that in the current edition of Airfix Model World there is a pic of a Merlin test shot as shown at SMW. It looks very good and- if I remember correctly - should be available in the not too distant future. John
