I've just returned from Shoreham. In contrast to the weather on Saturday, today has been horrible - grey, light rain and low cloud. So the airshow was severely curtailed - bugger! But there is an aerojumble there on April 6 2013! John

I am thinking about adding a 1/72 scale RN Lynx helicopter to my ever growing list of kits to make, and would appreciate guidance on which kit is the most accurate. I am aware that Airfix have produced the HAS3 and HMA8 variants and I am aware that HobbyBoss have also made a variety of Lynx kits - and I recall that there were comments on BM that there were some inaccuracies in these. So I would appreciate Lynx afficiandos thoughts please. Thanks, John

Earlier tday I saw what I thought was a C47 Dakota (possibly BobMF?) over the South Downs -checking out Shoreham in readiness for this weekends airshow. John

I saw a Hawk T1 flying, fairly low in a soth-east direction yesterday morning. Checking out Shoreham prior to this weekend's airshow? John

If I remember correctly 85 Sqdn operated a variety of different marks of Canberra, ranging from B2s to T19s which had a longer pointy nose than the B2. So it might be worth while finding out which mark is involved and going from there. I hope that I have not put you off! John

Nice photos. It was a good day and thankfully the weather was kind. It was good to see the Meteor and the Sea Fury back in action and the Vulcan howl was just amazing. I was pleased to see the 2 Hawk T2s of 4 Sqdn there but did you notice that the markings on the left hand side (looking at it nose on) of the Hawk XX307 were a little askew - at least to my eye - whilst those on the right hand side were fine. So it's not only modellers who make these mistakes! And as always it was great to see the Hanger 11 Hurricane 2b flying - what a super display it gave. No BoBMF flight Hurricane AGAIN - where are they?? John

And (sorry another sentence strated with and) that you can buy the Shakleton MR2/AEW2/MR3 from Czech Master Resin (mini series)! And they are VERY nice! John -

In addition to the Welsh Models kits, don't forget the Anigrand range in resin. They do the V bombers and the Nimrod and they are nice - although pricey - despite the bad press they have had in the past. And they include usually 3 extra types (not always well known) as part of the kit. You can either get them from Hannants or direct from Hong Kong, which I have found to be a very rapid delivery. Hi Robin - persuade him to do 1/72 as well..... please............... Thanks, John

Yes it is a nice finish. I have been looking high and low in model shops in the south and there is no Spit 22 to be found anywhere. They are even shown as sold out on the Airfix website. In the end I got one at Amazon so if you want one be prepared top have a good look round. All the best , John

Will these be available in 1/72 scale for their Wessex kits? I do hope so! Thanks, John I should have read this before I posted it - I am referring to the Italeri Wessex HAS3 and HU5 kits. John

I saw this kit yesterday in my LHS. Isn't it the ICM kit reboxed? John

I have all 4 vols of 2 TAF which I would be willing to sell. PM me if interested. Cheers, John

I would like some advice please. I am contemplating building the 1/72 FAA and RAF Merlin helicopters. I think that the only company that produce these id Italeri. How accurate are they and what is the Merlin TT they advertise? Thanks, John

An RAF Griffin (Huey) at about 1000 feet heading east over Pulborough. I've not seen one of these before. John

After speaking to Roger Evans at Whirlybirds he has now sent mr the Whirlybirds pdf catalogue which makes very interesting reading. I had heard of them but they do not seem to advertise their wares, at least in the publications that I see. Nor do they have a website, which is a pity. They do both the Lightning T4 and 5 with decals, as well as other marks of LIghtning. After a peruse of the catalogue I will be ordering a T5 in the 145 Sqdn markings. Again many thanks for all you help - I knew that if I asked the question BMers would respond, and you did! And the completed models look excellent! John
-
Gents - thanks for all the useful info on Lightnings. I am minded to go for the Whirlybirds T5 for a starter. Thanks John

Good afternoon fellow BMers, I 'm looking for some advice please. I am thinking about building a 1/72 Lighning F4 and F6 -as well as a T5 if there are any conversions about. But which is the best Lightning kit on the market. I believe that the Airfix F3 is very long in the tooth now, and the Hasegawa F6 is pretty ancient. However, I know that Trumpeter do a series of Lightnings - how good are these? Thanks, John Hello - me again. You all spotted the typo I'm sure - it is of course a Lightning F3, and not an F4! JOhn

What I think was an RAF Merlin HC3 heading north/north west over Pulborough at 10.30. But it was in a medium grey finish - the last time I saw one it was dark green. Have/are they been repainted? It was not an FAA variant. John

I think that I have found the answer to my question. A to Z models do such a conversion. Thanks Ali - you have come to the rescue! Cheers, John

I want to model a 1/72 Hunter FR10 using the Revell FGA9 as a basis for that. I think that the only mod to the FGA9 is the camera nose. The question is does anybody know if there is such a conversion or is it simpler to do a DIY conversion. Looking at pictures of the FR10 it seems as though the nose cone is slightly longer and more pointed that that the FGA9. Any help, advice or suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks in advance, John

CHris - I'm interested in the Magna Scimitar - are they OK? I understand that there are no decals. John
-
Is the Xtrakit Scimitar really that bad? What needs to be done to make it acceptable? I'll take one from you if anybody wants to get rid of one! PM me John
