  1. I would not dare question Danni's observations! John
  2. Thanks for all the comments and in particular Danni's exposition - quite masterful and most useful. Yet another example of the knowledge within BM ranks. I was more thinking about the Venom NF3 kit, but I guess this will exhibit similar issues to the Sea Venom, so I will forget about that and go for the CMR kit - if I can afford it! Thanks again to one and all. Cheers, John
  3. Some info please. Does anybody have any thoughts on the Cyber Hobby Venom/Sea Venom kits. Worthwhile - or not. Views welcome! Thanks, John
  4. Welsh Models are doing an 1/144 RC135W in RAF markings which should be available later this year. If you look on their website you can see the kit components. John
  5. I go to lectures every now and again in Chichester on all aspects of aviation. There was one recently in which the lecturer (who should know about these things) indicated that the RAF really wanted the KC10 but the Treasury were seduced by an offer from BA - who wanted to get rid of theirs - to get the TriStars at a knockdown price. I don't know if this is true or not but is a good tale and you can imagine the Treasury biting BA's hands off to grab the offer irrespective of what the RAF might want. Nevertheless a fine looking aeroplane - and much better looking than the KC10! John
  6. Wez, I appreciate that - perhaps it was the marketing arrangement that Hannants and MPM came to? In any event there will be an F3 version - the box art looks superb. Don't know about an F1 though. John
  7. MPM/Special Hobby are doing an F3 in a separate boxing. Same sprues but with the extended (clear) wingtips. John
  8. I have not seen a Swift in flight - as far as I can remember - but I see the one at the Tangmere Military Aviation Museum every week. It stands opposite Neville Duke's Hunter F3 so it is possible to compare and contrast the two. There is no doubt that the Hunter is better looking but I have to admit that there is a certain something about the Swift. It is chubbier than the Hunter but has some very sinuous curves about it. Interestingly Airix are providing a decal for WK281 in 79 Sqdn colours - which is the one at Tangmer, as well as a 2 Sqdn machine. And yes I am pleased that Airfix are doing a Swift and I hope that they will continue to do more British jet aircraft. John
  9. Whilst at Hornchurch I had a browse at the new Airfix catalogue and saw that the decal options are for a 2 Sqdn machine with PRU blue undersides and a 79 Sqdn machine (WK281) with silver undersides. WK281 is the Swift at Tangmere Museum. I wonder if Airfix went there to have a measure up?? John
  10. I got two sets from Freightdog on Saturday - e-mail Colin to see if he has any left. HTH John
  11. Hi Paul, Monday is my day every week as well as 1 weekend day per month (next one Mar 23). I confirmed today that the vehicle under the blue tarpaulin next to the Phantom is indeed a Ferret scout car. As you rightly surmise the spikes in the fin are to repel birds and not a new type of aerial. John
  12. Nice pics Paul, but the positioning of the aircraft does make it a bit difficult sometimes. I am a volunteer guide there, so why not give us a visit. John

    PRU pink

Good morning, I want to make a recce Spit 9 as operated by 16 Sqdn post D Day which were painted in PRU Pink. How pink is PRU pink? Is it nearly white with a touch of pink - or much pinker? What paint/paint mix should I use? Thanks, John
  14. According to Hyperscale, the Lightning kits should be available at the end on March! John
  15. Good evening, I would appreciate views on the accuracy - or otherwise - of the 1/72 AZ Spitfire IXc. Thanks, John
  16. Yes I am looking forward to the release of the Swift. I am a volunteer at the Tamgmere Military Aviation Museum where they have a Swift FR5 on display - marked up as WK281 in 79 Sqdn markings. I am an unashamed Hunter fan bit the Swift does have a lovely chunkiness about it. Shameless plug - why not come along and see it and the other treasures at Tangmere! John
  17. Well done Ali - an important niche filled at long last. I have just ordered one. John

    Avro Lincoln

My thanks to all those that have helped and advised in my quest to find out about modelling the Lincoln. I am most appreciative of your kindness. It just shows what a great organisation and the people that belong to it is. My sincere thanks, John

    Avro Lincoln

Derek, Many thanks for looking. I am told that there was something in PKC, but from what you say clearly not. How feasible would it be to get a copy of the Lincoln article you refer to. I am happy to meet your costs. Thanks, John
  22. Good morning, I wonder if anybody can help me please. I am looking for a copy of the article about/plans of the Avro Lincoln published in Plastic Kit Constructer, some year back. I'm sorry but I do not know the date of the article other than it was in PKC. Thanks very much. John
  23. Looks very good to me Stu - well done! I do like Mr Bulleid's locomotives. Better than anything from the GWR! John
