  1. The 1/48 scale plans and article about the Swift are in the July 2015 edition of Scale Aircraft Modelling (vol37, issue 05). Even though the plans are 1/48 it is clear to see that the shape of the ventral tank is rather different to that in the kit. Hope this helps, John
  2. Where is this wonderful Hurri based. Great to see a new (?) one in the air. John
  3. Hi Dave - hope that you are OK. Look after yourself! John
  4. Will do when I am at Tangmere next Monday. John
  5. Sorry I should have said the recent article in SAM! John
  6. I am a volunteer at Tangmere. Unfortunately the Swift at Tangmere does not have the ventral tank - does the one at Newark? As far as I can tell the Freightdog tank is the better shape based on the plans in the Airfix Model World drawings. John
  7. I have compared the original Freightdog offering with that in the Swift kit. The kit tank and Freightdog tank are approximately the same length but the Airfix is thinner than the Freightdog one. If you have the Swift drawings in a recent Airfix Model World you can see that the tank is a very different shape to the kit offering. John
  8. AS promised I did have a look at the Sea Vixen at Tangmere. There is certainly no dihedral, but a little anhedral in my view - but it is not very much. I had not appreciated that the leading edge of the outer wings has a droop on it. John
  9. I have now received the Shadow - rather expensive but looks pretty good. some flash on the resin but nothing that cannot be removed. Nicely detailed with white metal undercarriage. If you want a Shadow it is the only option - so far. John

    Ryan Hamilton

Hi Ray, Thanks for letting me know about Ryan; that is much appreciated. I will wait to hear from him. John
  12. Wow - that looks great! And in 84 Sqdn markings as well. When will this be available please? Thanks, John
  13. I wonder if any of our Aussie colleagues can help me please? I know that a chap called Ryan Hamilton has produced a conversion set to build a KC30 from the 1/144 A330-300 kit. I want to build an RAF Voyager (pretty much identical to the KC30) and would like to get hold of a copy of the conversion. Greg Anderson od OzMods has kindly passed on Ryan's e-mail address and he did reply to me a month or so ago. Since then I have e-mailed Ryan on 3 occasions to order the conversion but he has not replied to me. I don't know where in Oz he lives but wonder if he is still around. I believe that he contributes to the Aussie Model Forum. All help gratefully received! Thanks, John
  14. I'll have a look at the one at the Tangmere Military Aviation Museum on Monday and post my thoughts. If anything I would say that there is a very slight anhedral but will confirm or otherwise. HTH John
  15. I see that RVHP have released kits of the RAF Shadow and FAA Avenger, which interest me. But my question is has any BMer has built an RVHP kit and would appreciate their thoughts on accuracy etc. Thanks, John
  16. I had a look at my Swift earlier today and cannot see the step referred to. If I was being REALLY picky I would comment that there is no cover for the front camera. In reality it was covered by an eyelid to protect the camera which was opened when photos were to be taken. John
  17. That looks good. I want to get my hands on the kit as soon as possible! John
  18. I have ordered 1 via ebay from Halifax Model World. Est delivery 17-21 July. The shop has several more in stock. I wonder where they came from? John

    Fairey Firefly

Yes I realised that after I had posted it! Can the mods move it to the right location please? Thanks, John
  20. Does anybody have the 1/72 scale boxing of the Firefly FR1 by Special Hobby (SH72195) that is surplus to their requirements. If so, could they PM me please? Thanks, John
  21. Nice model - but it is a Hawker Sea Hawk, not Supermarine! John
  22. Mine has arrived and I have gad a good thumb through it. It's good - well done to all concerned! John
