Sorry I should have said 1/48 scale! John

I want to add a BAe Hawk T1/T1a to my stash, but would like to know whether it is considered that the Italeri version is better that the Airfix version. I know that the Airfix one has been around for many years in different guises, but that the Italeri version is much newer, and twice the price of the Airfix kit. So I would welcome advice on which one to go for please. Thanks, John

Do not ignore the Fuji X range of cameras, such as the XT10. It is not a DSLR but looks like one- they are smaller and lighter that the Nikon/Canon equivalents but offer exactly the same. And Fuji lenses are wonderful! John

That looks good! John

Oh yes! John -
I like that - very much! Well done and I await the Argosy as well. John

Wouldn't it be nice if Airfix extended their Meteor range to include the F4, T7, FR9 and PR10. And if they ever did a 1/48 Hunter to make that multi variant as well! John

Any more news on the Argosy kit please? Thanks, John

I plan to make a 146 in a similar scheme at some stage. Could I ask for details of the anti radar reflectors please? Thanks, John -
Alleycat's K5054 Spitfire prototype
jaw replied to roadrunner's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
Post no 10 referred to the Spitfire prototype replica at the Tangmere Military Aviation Museum. I was there today, and had a close look at the replica - which is supposed to be 99% accurate. The panel lines on the outer wings are very noticeable, although those on the fuselage are much less noticeable. I was having a chat to one of the chaps who was making a Spitfire cockpit simulator and he said that the wings panels did overlap each other and they were not butted together. On colour he said that they did not know the colours that the prototype was originally painted in but thought that it was a bit of this, and a bit of that paint. Recently the replica left the Museum to go on display and the paintwork was slightly damaged in the process. The chap who repainted it used Toyota Nigera Blue for the job which matches the rest of the airframe perfectly! Hope this helps, John -
What has happened to the long promised Avro Lincoln? Have they forgotten about it?? John

I have both the Victor B2 and K2 kits and will check to see if the wingtips have been changed but in 1/144 land I doubt if there is much difference! John

I was at Shoreham on that fateful day and the Hunter did not fly over the crowd. It flew along the runway line fron the sea before pulling up into a climb. So the media have leapt on to the comment about the Southport show and in essence blamed the pilot for the accident. Let's await the AAIB report and see what that says! John

Scarlet - I get the Aviation Megastore newsletter and happened to spot the Victor. Since there was no apparent knowledge about the kit in the UK - although it was noted on BM some months back - I decided to get it from the Aviation Megastore. Their service was amazing! John

I have just received my copy of the new Great Wall Hobby Victor K2 tanker. I had to get this from the Aviation Megastore in the Netherlands as for some strange reason it is not available in the UK yet. As you would expect from GWH it is beautifully moulded with fine panel lines. It offers 4 decal versions, 1 in the grey/green finish for 57 sqdn and 3 in the hemp/LAG finish in Desert Storm of 55 Sqdn(Lucky Lou, Maid Marian and Saucy Sal). John

I have just ordered the stretched C130J from Sprue Bros in the USA, and noticed that they have the KC135A in stock at $36, but postage to the UK is another $24! Hope this helps, John

That's great news - thank you very much. John

I keep hearing rumours that you are going to produce a 1/144 scale kit of the RAF's A W Argosy transport aircraft. I hope that this is true? Thanks, John

Unless Amodel or Anigrand come to the rescue the chances of getting a 1/144 scale kit of the Lincoln seem remote. Then I had a wonderful idea - why not see if you convert the Amodel Lancaster to a Lincoln. I have the Lancaster/Lincoln/York book and it looks as though the drawings of the Lincoln in that are as near as dammit ( can I say that?)to 1/144 scale. I have also got the Warpaint and can use the drawings in that and can use those suitably reduced in size. Just to test this theory I have laid the Lancaster kit over the Lincoln drawings and first thoughts are that this could be a goer. Mind you at my rate of building I will be well over 200 years old and no doubt there will be several dozen Lincoln kits out there! John
-
Well the title says it all; as far as I am aware there are no 1/144 scale kits of the Lincoln. I know that A Model are showing one as a new release but that has been the case for some years and I suspect that it may have fallen by the wayside. Post war 1/144 scaleRAF bombers are easily available, but not the Lincoln! Anigrand would be the company most likely to produce the kit given their back history of RAF aircraft. Or Welsh Models are an alternative producer. If Blackbird can do a 1/72 scale Lancaster/Lincoln conversion could they do the same in 1/144 scale? Or could somebody Freightdog do something similar?
