  1. Hi Graham, this is a kit of the modified escort version, A turret removed and replaced by Hedgehog ( the green box below B turret) and Y turret removed for added depth charges. Mick
  2. Hi, I have decided to restart my ship modelling after a break to try painting (not very well) 28mm Napoleonic Cavalry. I like the small IBG destroyers and have not done HMS Harvester yet. As you can see from the parts i have already put a coat of dark deck grey from Sovereign Hobbies on the needed parts. I have a bit of a dilemma with the colour scheme, as the ship is depicted as in 1943 but the colour call outs are for pre 43 colours (W.A. white blue and green) whereas I have bought Jamie's 1943 Western approaches set which is white, B30 and B55. I will also be replacing the 4.7", 20mm, TT and boats with Micro Master 3d printed ones, the pom pom and Carley floats will be Flyhawk, and the Hedgehog is also a resin replacement (can't remember whose). All paints will Jamie's Colourcoats. Wish me luck. Mick
  3. I don't know how I managed to miss this, but will be following along closely and shamelessly copying your Chiddingfold build. I love these little Hunts and Chiddingfold was one i wanted to do. just as it happens I have all the same add ons, except my pom poms will be Flyhawk. Jamie, waiting to see how you tackle the masts ( on the model and the full size) Keep up the great work. Mick
  4. IBG are releasing a 1/700 HMS Harvester very soon according to their Facebook page. Images from their Facebook page.
  5. Rob, she's looking brilliant. Just had my latest Micro Master order drop through the door. Just so anyone who is tempted by these parts, until lockdown my orders normally arrived in 10-12 days. Mick
  6. Done with Flyhawks 1/700 HMS Naiad, still a few touch ups to do and then she goes to the queue waiting for weathering and rigging. Just a note to anyone thinking of building her, do not paint the radar before assembly, mine only had a light spray but would not fit through the holes because the tolerances are so tight. Luckily I have a couple of spare kits and they went together without trouble, without paint. I've already knocked the rear radar off twice,. Cat hairs now removed from the foremast 😹 Now to decide on what to start next.
  7. Wood hunter deck, but had real problems trying to get it from the backing sheet.
  8. It's a good job the guns are the same as I managed to glue one together without lining it up correctly, so nicked one of the spares from the POW. I also managed to find the lost breakwater, though where it came from lord only knows. Another good day with Flyhawk's 1/700 HMS Naiad, but now comes the hard parts for me, Masts and photo etch. Mick
  9. Today's progress, a very successful day for me. No destroyed PE and no lost parts. Mick
  10. Wow Joel, that's looking great, looking forward to seeing more.
  11. GUY, you've had the kit 15 hrs, how come it's not finished yet 🤪 😂. Looking forward to watching this come together. Mick
  12. I said there were some small parts. The first parts of section 2, with the tip of my tweezers and the tip of a scalpel.
  13. Started another one, opened the box for Flyhawk's 1/700 HMS Naiad this morning. Stage one done. Had massive problems with the wooden deck, would not separate from backing sheet. Good old Sovereign hobbies Colourcoats, dry in no time. Decided to do the 1941 scheme of dark grey hull and light grey upper. Will be chasing Jamie@Sovereignhobbies for more paint soon. A quick spray and we're off. Unmasked and ready to start. A lot of very small parts in this one. Mick
  14. The Lance joins the ever growing queue awaiting rigging and weathering. Masts were made from brass rod and took nearly 3 days to build 🤯. I must say I really enjoy these little kits and they are helping me learn techniques and various things I never thought i was capable of. Mick
  15. Thank you, but I cheat with the windows, a 0.3 mm drawing pen. Strangely I had more problems with the main deck rails than any of the smaller odd shaped rails. Will try cutting them into smaller sections next time. Mick
  16. Thank you Rob, but when I see some of the builds on here I aspire to reach that sort of quality. Learning all the time.
  17. Well I finally got some work done on Flyhawks 1/700 HMS Prince of Wales. This is how she will stay for a while, Had major struggles with deck rails and masts. I will stick to my smaller ships for a while, though this is nothing against the kit, just my abilities to do it justice. I need more practice with photo etch and also need to learn rigging methods. Thanks to all who helped me with advice and encouragement, not up to the standards if many on here, but i will get better slowly.
  18. Hi Jeff, you should get some, they come with everything you need including PE and even brass rod for the masts and brass gun barrels. I buy from China and they only cost about 25 UK pounds. A magnifyer is a must as some of the parts are as small as the tips of my finest tweezers.
  19. Work continues on Flyhawk's 1/700 HMS Lance, added a few guns and depth charges. Trying to make the brass rod masts, taken almost all day and still not done, struggling to line things up. If anyone knows a good way of lining up the brass parts for gluing it would be a great help to me. Mick
  20. Work continues at a steady pace, I tend to struggle with photo etch but am learning slowly. added some of the smaller rails.
  21. A bit later than expected, but they are done as good as I am capable of, now on to my next challenge. I will be attaching the masts after I have done the rails, if my sanity holds out. I know the supports have bends in them, but it looks a lot better in reality, hoping to straighten them a little more when I fix them into place.
  22. Rob, with a bit of luck your Micro master order may arrive soon, got my first one since their lockdown yesterday, and still waiting for another one. After reading this whole thread, I feel a County class build coming on, but mine will be 1/700. I will be using your build for reference. Keep up the excellent work. Mick
  23. Whilst working on Lance my brain is slowly returning to normal, so today I will be making an attempt at the foremast 🤪. Hopefully progress pics later.
  24. A bit more progress on Flyhawks 1/700 HMS Lance. Spending more time finding parts that seem to disappear when tweezers get near them and picking cat hairs from parts. 🤯 Lots of touch up to do. Mick
  25. A little progress, Prince of Wales mast is fighting me so I did a little work on the Lance. Lots of touch up to do, but I will wait and have a session all in one go.
