  1. Love it! What a great idea! I've got a similar thing to do with a 1:72nd Lancaster in the pipeline, but it won't end up nearly this good!
  2. A beauty in black. You've done a very good job of weathing the Night finish without making it look overdone.
  3. Another stunning build: you have this amazing ability to turn out quality so consistently! Beautiful.
  4. This is a very great inspiration to me, halfway through trying to rebuild my Vulcan from eight years ago. It's a beauty! Thanks for the tip re. Halfords White, my Vulcan will be in Cammo, but I've been worrying about the white finishes for my up-coming Valiant! I have once question about the Two Mikes U/C bays: do you reckon it'd be possible to install them into a model (i.e. mine) whose wing/fuselage halves are stuck firmly together? I've not been able to pry my Vulcan completely apart, but would dearly like to improve the U/C bays once I've finished all this blasted scribing, and am quite tempted by the resin option...
  5. Good job in all three cases! I particularly love the Spit, but all three are lovely.
  6. But...it's green! They're all awesome builds, I'm very envious of your skills. Never seen a green Sea Hawk, but she looks really nice!
  7. I went into my LHS yesterday and there was a Sea Hawk on the shelf, and I swear it was smiling appealingly at me. Needless to say, one look in the box and I gave in and bought it. It's very nice indeed, and makes my 1950s Airfix kit look like it was carved badly out of rough flint by a slightly drunk caveman.
  8. I am going to send some e-mails tonight to widen the net re. wheel wells... I have some quite good cockpit shots if you want them: a lot of dredging found some recent shots of XD235 (much smarter and more complete than in the T&L walkaround!) which I am using; and I took some shots of the prototype cokcpit WT859 at Yeovilton last year. You are welcome to both of these if you need them (PM me), and I'll keep you posted about the wheel wells. Seems refs. are few and far between. If I find nothing satisfactory, I might possibly be able to pop down to Yeovilton in the next couple of weeks to get some myself. I'll let you know if I do, and you can send me requests!
  9. Hi everybody! Posted this question in my last Supermarine Scimitar thread, but I suspect it may have got overlooked (or maybe nobody is able to help?) My first question for this build is: does anybody have any decent pictures of the undercarriage bays they wouldn't mind sharing? I have seen the walkaround at Thunder and Lightnings, but its pictures are old, grainy and dark, and do not show the main bays well, or the nose bay at all. Cheers in advance, Vulcanicity
  10. Excellent Hurri, and good to find another person who still manages to make models at university! Can I please ask which numbered shades of Revell you used for the upper colours? Vulcanicity
  11. Dannielle, I have detailed pics of the interior of the radiator duct (and wheel wells) on the sole Fulmar survivor N1854, which I took at its home in the Fleet Air Arm Museum near me. If you would like copies for reference please PM me and I can e-mail you a set. Vulcanicity
  12. That really is lovely! Quite an unusual subject too.
  13. Hi Eccles, Off the top of my head you could try Humbrol no.80, or perhaps No. 117.
  14. Think the Dutch and/or Belgians carried Sidewinders too. Don't forget the cannon options: 4x30mm Aden in most marks but reduced to two in (all of?) the trainer marks.
  15. H163 is the Dark Green Graham mentions. There is a Revell equivalent, RV68, which is quite good but possibly a touch too dark ( I used it for my 1:72nd Beaufighter, see http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.p...hl=Beaufighter) I've always found HU90 to be a pretty good Sky, and I must admit I don't really have time for the intense debate that RAF "Sky" generates. Xtracrylix sky is also excellent, if a touch darker. Good luck!
  16. I'll continue to use this thread for all my daft questions about the Scimitar while I build. First off: does anyone have any decent photos of the wheel wells? Damian Burke's walkaround on Thunder and Lightnings isn't bad, but doesn't have any pictures of the nosewheel bay, and one very hazy and incomplete picture of one of the mainwheel bays. The kit nosewheel bay is, well, rudimentary, and the mainwheels don't have any bays at all, so I'd be grateful for any help I can get. Cheers!
  17. Fantastic. You clearly have quite a knack for dioramas! You've made it looks so believable and relaxed, which must be one of the hardest aspects of dioramas to get right.
  18. Beautiful! I think Light Aircraft Grey was the correct underside colour at this period in time, and your mix has captured it very well.
