  1. i showed this thread to a mate of mine who was a tankie in the army and his reply was "very nice, looks like its ready for the scrapyard, if id let my tank look as shabby id be on a charge. thats why god created a turks head brush and I.R.R paint" if it stands still paint it and if it moves salute it. then paint it.
  2. im in awe of the quality of this model. ive just built the same kit. what really shocked me was when the matilda was put side by side with a tiger and panther. its tiny im in awe of the quality of this model. ive just built the same kit. what really shocked me was when the matilda was put side by side with a tiger and panther. its tiny
  3. i was looking forward to this kit until i opened the box to be greeted by the lower hull complete with dirty great holes in it. the model had the mouldings there to motorise it but at the same time making the thing into a toy not a scale model kit. the upper and lower hulls are held together with a clip in set up which leaves big open sections and looking an eyesore. if i had known it was a toy not a scale model it would have stayed on the shelf. its destined to be at the back of the cabinet not on pride of place front row.
  4. side by side, i cant tell which are individual links and which are vinyl. both painted in a rust red with the bars in silver and then scuffed to give a realistic effect. looking at a digger on the motorway yesterday while sat in traffic gave me a good idea of tracks in action.
  5. one thing i forgot to mention is i have parkinsons so the individual links are even harder to do than the optional at a price aftermarket tracks. i picked up my rubber tracks from transport models in preston last night for he princely sum of £9.50 ok they need a link or two removing but thats easier than dropping a link on the floor with 2 jack russell land sharks hovering around.
  6. ive seen metal tracks for tanks advertised on you tube, anyone got a suppliers name?
  7. ive got my tiger tracks to sag lovely by adding a dab of superglue to the top of each wheel and then wedging a little tin foil in between the track and the underside of the body. seems like its 50/50 for and against the single piece tracks and the individual links.
  8. yes please, ill pm you my details
  9. im new to afv kits having spent the last 40+ years building onlyaircraft kits. im half way through a tiger 1 early model by italieri, a panther aus g late model and a sturmm tiger from tamiya. can someone point me at the best manufacturer to go with that doesnt have the pain of assembling individual links on the tracks ? of the three kits only the panther had vynyl tracks. i ran the importers to ask if tracks were vailable in 1/35 made from vynyl but was amazed at the £19.99 price. it was lowered to £9.99 after they heard me collapse clutching my wallet. id love to build more 1/35 tanks etc but the tracks are putting me off
  10. nice finish on the bentley but so wasteful. i used a full can on 2 chassis rails and a bonnet
  11. has anyone except revell got a clue as to the colours used in their kits? im totaly baffled with the scheme and the mixing of paints to obtain a colour thats already in the humbrol list. has anyone got a conversion chart from revell speak to humbrol as ive got a few kits waiting to be built but im not happy mixing paints to achieve decent match.
