    Acrylics primer

Try Halfords Acrylic Car primer..............I use a white and a grey, others are available...........does away with getting the airbrush out and all the cleaning associated with it..........I find they dry hard, smooth and stick well, in over 40 plus years, never had a problem with it
  2. The search function on this site is absolute rubbish.........the way I conduct a search is through "Google" I type the search item into the box BUT at the end I put in "Britmodeller" I generally get the exact item I am interested in and it goes back upto and over 10 years..........much better way to search the site...............I typed in Hawker Hunter on this site, I got everything made by Hawker, Hawker Siddeley every type of Hunter and any other aircraft which had Hunter associated with its name, this included just about every american aircraft, Nimrod, if somebody was building another aircraft, say the Sabre, but in the article included the word Hunter or Hawker, these also came up...........filtering through this lot of upto 10-20 pages can take ages and be very frustrating, especially when photos have been deleted or hosts changed ......................"Google" is the way to go and add Britmodeller at the end
  3. I spray it on..............I suppose it depends on the size of the needle in your airbrush.........I use a .4 I think.............but seems to work with other needles as well(for me) I expect my bottle of galeria to last my life time. After use, I wash the airbrush under a hot water tap........the stuff I have is like water and the reservoir/cup goes down quiet quickly so not unusual to top up 2-3 times during a spraying session
  4. I have never diluted Galeria, never had white spots yet....................and I have been using it for years
  5. Never too old - I am 73 and STILL my stash continues to grow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. That thread was started in 2016 and 5 years later where are we? That reminds me very much of the Classic Airframes Fairey Gannet AEW3........box art done, tooling started then it fizzled out, never to be due to company going bust........................this seems to be the same...........box art done - years ago and fizzled out........................somebody about that same time was doing a 1/48 Buccaneer, box art done, then that fizzled out........................I think we are grabbing at straws
  7. I do believe a two seater was built, a trainer I think. Now for some unknown reason manufacturers failed to realise this and insist on doing fighters/single seaters all the while, which I find rather boring..........last kit I bought was Ali's two seater conversion for the Hunter.............so many options for two seat Hunters should keep me busy for a while, but would like to see signs of a 2 seat Venom
  8. In my experience many sellers mention its posted, but they only post once per week, possibly a Friday.........another is if its a large company using a parcel carrier and have a trailer backed onto the deck which is left there and changed once or twice per week, the shipper will mark it as posted, which to him, it is, but, its only gone out to be packed in the trailer. That trailer may not be exchanged for a couple of days so, anything marked as "posted" is in effect "posted" but its only outside in the trailer in the yard. I have had parcels arrive within 24 hours and others over 3 weeks...........hopefully it will eventually turn up
  9. A few PR spitfires to be seen on Malta here: Best if you rewind to beginning of film
  10. Having driven many, many trucks for many years, it is very realistic and unusual as a 6x2(6x4?).............................It was rumoured in many circles that if "God made anything better, he kept it for himself" Love the model, work thats gone into it and the perseverence. How long did it take to build?
  11. Best war series by far in the 60s was Combat. Based on a company travelling through Germany throughout the war.............episode one starts in England prior to embarking the ships for the D-Day. The 45 minute episode usually featured a guest star/celebrity hroughout its 152 episodes, heres just one featuring James Coburn playing a superb part.........all these episodes can be seen on YouTube
  12. For those of you intererested The Tank Museum has its own YouTube channel where it discusses every piece of machinery in the museum. Each type is givena 20-30 minute history and breakdown of the type, They must have over 100 documenteries on there, they do a walk around of the museum, breakdown of staff members and how they came to be working at the museum...............................an ideal way to dip into 30 mins of interesting fact............having served for numerous years on tanks in the 60s-70s I personally like the breakdown of the Crocadile flame thrower.................see what you think and dip into there archives
  13. I got the exact same set and its done everything that I have ever wanted from it...............value for money @ £25 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/352604692341?mkevt=1&mkcid=28&chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=710-134428-41853-0&mkcid=2&itemid=352604692341&targetid=1140014333902&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9045466&poi=&campaignid=12128843707&mkgroupid=117235444295&rlsatarget=pla-1140014333902&abcId=9300483&merchantid=7300134&gclid=Cj0KCQiAjKqABhDLARIsABbJrGlnsH8iDe0ppKxKJrrerFmR_JZDZZ7HxytDfmqr_w5LC08gwsG4kVUaAqXWEALw_wcB
  14. I think your dates are a little out Kevin? The Berlin Airlift finished 12 May 1949 and the RAF first delivery of the Beverley didnt take place till January 1955. Incidently, the RAF also had the same problems as you with the aircraft tipping on its tail! To counteract this they fitted a device called an "Elephant's Foot" which was fitted under the centre of the fuselage just forward of the clamshell doors when loading heavy items to prevent the aircraft from tipping back.
  15. before painting, having laid the masking tape down, spray or brush a thin layer of varnish along the edges of the tape...............seals the gap and creates a barrier to stop paint creeping under the tape Happy New Year
  16. Having built many.many resin kits, mainly 1/24 KFS and 1/35 Accurate Armour, manufacturers are aware of these "faults" and tend to warn you about these difficulties in the instructions. They offer a solution, superglue and a needle, just apply the glue to the hole and after its dried, sand it down...............problem solved, for the really BIG holes I add Baking powder to the superglue(after applying it the model, its just like a puddle, drop the powder into the puddle, you can use Talculm powder which has finer granules, Bicarb of soda also can be added to the glue, depends on your preference. I used superglue and baking powder a lot when building the Airfix Vulcan, came in handy when overscribing and moving panel lines on the wings and body. I tend to use this filler now in preference to other well known "putties" as this mix is just as good, it is an instantantious filler, goes off within micro seconds of apply powder and soda and does not shrink. Happy New Year
  17. A member of this site posted a number of videos on Youtube of helpful tips and advice, heres his take on canopy s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9PPYEbwPRU
  18. I have always used the washed out tops from disposable Milk bottle containers...…..I have about a 100 now, used once and thrown away...………...for my airbrush I use small plastic medicinal cups from ebay
  19. I have always used the good old Airfix way? A couple of concealed staples, even better if its the top run and behind skirts or bottom beneath a road wheel.
  20. I thought the thread was titled "1/48 - Blackburn Buccaneer" How does an F101 appear anything like a Buccaneer? Please try and avoid thread drift or - start a new thread on the F101
  21. Just had exactly the same message pop up on my Bitdefender and like clive, ignored it...…….
  22. I was trying to ovoid putting a name to the company Nigel, but, you hit the nail right on the head......at the end of the session there was a queue to buy lots of his accessories for airbrushes plus a lot of Stynylrez primer
  23. I and about 6 others, did a similar course as Nigel, but mine was with a company in Leicestershire and really feel that I learnt more from YouTube and still continue to do, than what I did from the course...………….could have saved a lot of money
