  1. Thats come out very nice Eric, looks lovely - these old kits can scrub up well with a bit of work and you've more than done that with this! Cheers Simon
  2. Once again thanks for the kind words guys! Seems like lots of us built this when we were kids, I first made it circa 1980ish but think I made a better fist of it second time round lol Cheers Simon
  3. Lovely build Adey, I built this kit sometime in the early 80's and alway have a soft spot for the Beagle! Cheers Simon
  4. Wow, thats incredible - brilliant work!!!
  5. Great photos! My dad was an armourer on 2 Squadron Hunters at Jever in the late 50's early 60's and used to go up to Sylt on occasion, at least thats what my mum tells me, leaving her back at base with 3 young boys and a baby girl (I was yet to appear!!). Cheers Simon
  6. Lets hope they treat the models gently!!! They are stunning, fantastic builds all of them! Cheers Simon
  7. Yes, the MisterKit boxing is a re-pop of the ZTS Plastyk Hunter F6a. Yours has not come out too bad though, looks good! Relax though guys, Revell are re-issuing their lovely 72 scale FGA9 this year! Cheers Simon
  8. Very nice, I want to done of these at some point. My dads first Squadron posting as an armourer was on Tempest II in Germany in late '45, got a great photo of him with one! Cheers Simon
  9. Blimey, didn't expect this old kit to get quite so much positive feedback - thanks all, much appreciated!! FYI Chris, I used bronze for the rings on the engines, not sure if thats 100% correct though! Cheers Simon
  10. Look forward to seeing your Wimpey! I'll dig out some photos of my effort when I get a moment.
  11. Thanks again for all the kind words guys! And, yes - I used loads of decal solution on them but still didn't completely stop the silvering. Cheers Simon
  12. Yes, they're still in the box! I might do a base for it at some point and build them, like I did about 38 years ago lol!! I didn't get a photo of the underneath, I put half the bombs in and kept some back for the trollies. Anyway, thanks for kind words guys!
  13. Hi all, This is the third old skool Airfix RAF bomber i've built over the last few years - others being a Wellington and Halifax - for some odd reason I love doing these old kits and my modelling budget wont stretch to kits such as the Italeri Stirling anyway. This was built OOB apart from a bit of scratch detail in the cockpit. Unfortunately snapped off one of the front turret guns doing the decals so need to repair that! Painted by airbrush in Revell aqua colour dark Earth/bronze green over matt black. Cheers Simon And the lovely old box art!
  14. Its come a long way since it arrived. Only worry is once its restored it really needs to be kept inside, the aircraft at NAM are looking in bit of a sorry state at the moment as they are pretty exposed to the elements where they are :-(
  15. Thats superb, you've carried that off brilliantly! I can vouch that it is bang on, was up there a couple of weeks ago and took a quick snapshot! Cheers Simon
  16. Yes it is, thats my local museum a short drive round the new NDR - that Hunter is a PR10 in 79 Squadron markings from RAF Chivenor where I was born!! I'm on this build by the way!! Cheers Simon
  17. Wow, thats fantastic, beautiful build Michael
  18. Lovely pair of JP's Martin! Both beautifully finished! I snapped a photo of a 79 Squadron JP visiting Chivenor from Brawdy in the early 80's, also surprised to see it in that scheme at the time as well! Sorry for poor quality of photo I was only about 14 and we didn't have iPhones in those days lol Cheers Simon
  19. Thats lovely, I really like your solution to the pit and seats, looks great! Might have to dig my Xtrakit T7 out of the stash now!! Cheers Simon
  20. Great thread! How about the Odds & Ordanance T7 conversion for the Revell 1/72 kit, that built up into a nice T-bird, but think its OOP now sadly. Cheers Simon
  21. Thanks fellas, I knew I could rely on this forum to clear that up! Yes, 020 was done up in a retro scheme wasn't it. RAF Buck it is then Cheers Simon
  22. Hi all, Quick question, i'm currently building a 1/72 Revell (Matchbox) Bucc S2B and its coming together better than expected to be honest. I planned on doing a FAA overall EDSG scheme as I have the right decals and love that scheme, but now dawned on me that the FAA Buccs didn't have the bulging bomb bay - or did they? The one at the FAA has the bulging bomb bay, so did the FAA use S2B's or was it just the RAF? Thanks in advance! Cheers Simon
  23. Lovely job on the best looking jet fighter ever - and yes, I can confirm the chapter about this in Hunter Boys is well worth a read! Cheers Simon
  24. Thats excellent! Great work on the props!! Ive got an old 1/100 East German Plasicart kit of a Bear and have plans to do a similar thing with a Tamiya 1/100 Lightning at some point - although moving props is way beyond my skillset!! Thanks for sharing. Cheers Simon
  25. Happy days :-) I must have been at that gig then as I remember the Phsyco surgeons supporting - thats the only time i've seen NMA in thier home town!
