That's an excellent diorama!
I love that kit, I have a few in the stash and one on the shelf.
Thank you 🙂
This one was from the 'Reno Racer' double set, but builds up nice doesn't it!

Evening all,
Well it seems like ages since I posted anything here, so heres the first model i've completed in a long time. Lots of life changes such as Covid enforced redundancy and job change from a graphic designer in the events industry to a supermarket shelf filler have meant the hobby has taken a back seat for a while.
This is an old Revell boxing of the Harvard i've had in the stash for ages, not sure how accurate it is and purely built for fun to ease back into the hobby, and I had to find something to do with a box of RAF figures i've had for ages as well!
Decals are all from the spares box and could be better!
The photos are a bit moody but I like them 🙂

Indeed, not to mention
interim uniforms in the 1918-early 20s period, andworking dress such as tech ranks' overalls. I don't mention flying kit in that list as that's a whole subject in itself.@SimonR Good luck with the book, and if you have any specific queries, particularly the 1970s-90s period, please feel free to PM me.
I’ll send you a PM later Mike, now off to work 👍

Hi guys,
Wow, many thanks for your replies!
I am indeed aware its a big list lol!
This first issue is broadly covering 'service' uniforms, so No1s, 2s etc from around 1950-2000, so no aircrew, specialist or ceremonial clothing is included, if this proves a success I'm hoping to produce further versions. So far Ive included 49 BD, No1 OA & Officer, Tropical, DPM, Mess etc.
Its impossible to cover every single item of kit you have listed above but its looking pretty good to date, if anybody wants to PM me I can send a pdf of work in progress so you can pick holes in it lol!
FYI my dad served 23 years from '44 to 67 and I was in the Cadets at Chivenor so not coming at this totally blind.
Cheers

Hi all,
Are there any experts on post-war RAF Uniforms among us?
I'm currently in the process of producing a book and need a bit of help here and there.
I'll post a couple of draft spreads later so you can see how its looking.

WOW just seen this, an awesome build of an old kit !
I remember building this kit 40 years ago , mine certainly did not look like that - My dad would probably tell tales of my thumb prints in humbrol cement on the canopy , blood over the wing , my 1st attempt at cleaning up seams with a scalpel haha
Thank you!! yes I too had the old thing hanging from my bedroom ceiling sometime in the late 70's early 80's 🙂

Thanks Mike, good luck with your Wimpy and Halifax!
I agree about the minimal amount of parts, with a bit of work and creativity with the airbrush these old klts still stack up ok!!

Cool video. When was it done? The picture quality implies recently, but I'm sure I've seen a vid of a Herk landing on a beach before.
Hi chaps, just to clarify the Herc landed on Saunton beach on Jan 9 2019 - a mate was there to see it land and got some photos that he shared on facebook.
Hope that clears it up!

Hi Dave,
In asked a similar question about the FGA9 a little while ago, you may find this thread helpful or not, I'm not sure about the use of pods on the F6 to be honest...

I believe the Sabrinas are removed from the airframe in order that the Aden gun pack can be dropped out of the fuselage for servicing - so they would follow the colour of the u/s - don't quote me on that though...
Anyway, as said above, 50's early 60s Hunter HSS undersides and R/W/B roundels - late 60's LAG undersides I believe still R/W/B markings and by 1970ish the roundels had changed to red/blue.

Help with British Army Uniform Colours
in AFV Cold War
Posted
Hi Stuart,
This may help in terms of colours, this is an 85 Pattern DPM smock and 1980s Lightweights, not much difference in colour between this and earlier kit.
The kit below is based on RAF but same as Army for the period.
Cheers
