  1. Lovely build. 208's Spits had quite an unusual colour scheme which looks really attractive on a late mark version.
  2. Great finish(es). A handsome aircraft that reminds me of the Soviet DB3. Wasn't the Betty nicknamed the Flying Ronson by US pilots because it always lit first time?
  3. Thanks Pat. Might have a trawl and see if I have any of these. Tim
  4. Thanks Mal. A really good rendition of HSS. I'll have to give it a go. Cheers, Tim
  5. Very useful photo. Thanks for posting. Tim Thanks Patrice. The PE set looks great.
  6. I think my local shop has Tamiya as it happens.
  7. Thanks for that. Lots of useful information regarding colours. The photos on your thread of the rear wheel well is also helpful as I couldn't quite work out what Airfix had done with theirs. Now I know it has a canvas cover it makes perfect sense. I don't have any complaints about what Airfix are doing these days. I picked the kit up for £7.99 at a local toy shop and which, even if it is missing a couple of colours, is great value for money in my book. Anyway, I already have all the colours required and bought it for the decals as I don't have a 112 squadron P40 in my collection. I'm thinking about building a Billy Drake's Kittyhawk 1A, ET790 GA-? to go with it. Tim Thanks for that. Could you recommend a ZC I could use to mix with IG? Tim
  8. Bonsoir Patrice. Your interior detailing is great. What paint are you using? Cheer, Tim
  9. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that Airfix are appealing to younger modellers. The shark-mouthed Tomahawk is always going to be winner with kids, I would have thought. I genuinely wasn't sure what colour the interior of a US produced aircraft should be. I thought perhaps H 93 was meant to represent Zinc Chromate. Weren't some Tomahawks originally from a diverted French order? They may have had their own interior colour requirements.
  10. Very helpful links, especially the colour photos. Thanks.
  11. Hello folks Just been perusing my model of the above (starter set with Duke's 112 sqd aircraft) and noticed that the instructions suggest Humbrol colour 93 Desert Yellow for the cockpit interior. Can this be right I ask? I would have thought it would have been either cockpit interior green or whatever the US equivalent was. I noticed that the spinner is coloured black on this release whereas all my references have it as red (and, as far as I can tell, every Commonwealth Tomahawk and Kittyhawk in North Africa too). You only get four paints with this release, 29 Dark Earth, 33 black, 93 Desert yellow (surely it should be mid stone in reality?) and 157 Azure Blue, so is this more to do with catering for younger modellers than accuracy? What do you guys reckon? Cheers, Tim.
  12. Crikey. What a mess. Still, adds character I suppose. Nice one. Thanks Ross.
  13. Really nice. Hope they scale it down one day.
  14. BTW, anyone know which unit RE164 was with in this picture? Looks like a squadron badge on the nose which I'll have to try and source. I suppose in that scale it would be impossible to tell if I used another unit's badge, but I'd know! Interestingly, it doesn't look like it has the rear fuselage camera housing fitted, which means one less job for me to do.
  15. I'm thinking the same. Doesn't seem likely to have been DE or DG. In the photo it looks similar in tone to the nearest paddle blade but these B/W pics can be very deceptive. So agreed. Maybe!
  16. Thanks for posting those. I'm particularly interested in RE164 as a GR.3. It looks to be on pretty good nick in that picture. What's the consensus on the upper fuselage colour beneath the rear section of canopy? Cheers, Tim.
  17. Sounds logical to me although were the BIIIs sent back to Avros for conversion? If so they may have had a deep overhaul so I suppose anything is possible with regards painting. I suspect I'll go for black interior and black wheel wells unless someone knows better.
  18. Oh, I agree, I only want at least ten.
  19. Wow. Great box art. Looking forward to having an early Mk1. Airfix are playing a blinder at the mo.
