  1. Had a feeling this would be along before too long, excellent news, except of course for my bank balance...
  2. There's one on there, fairly recent, of him doing it on a winter Camo russian tank, that's 'live action' it's only a few mins long so worth finding
  3. It's not an easy technique to master and is easy to over do, I found that out while attempting it last night! Have a look on YouTube for the Ammo/Mig Jiminez videos, he has a few on chipping, where he uses both a brush and a sponge to chip various parts of a model.
  4. That's a very keen price, I had figured at least 20% more, now falls nicely into the 'get it now and stash it' bracket rather than the 'hang on until it's discounted' bracket
  5. Going full circle I found this thread via google http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/27691-can-i-produce-a-suez-centurion-from-an-afv-kit/
  6. Assuming the decal sheet I have is right, there was a mix of upgraded Mk3 and Mk5, presumably with the engine mods made. I have found other sources on the net that seem to suggest that the 1967 Shot boxing is fine to use
  7. Thanks chaps, PM on the way Dave. I have the 1967 boxing of the Shot centurion, I believe this represents the Mk5 standard that the IDF received, prior to any modifications so I think I'm good to go to make the Mk5 with the 105mm gun, although I have a feeling the 20lber might also be in there but I've not checked...
  8. Interesting, not a subject I'm familiar with but I'll watch this one, it'll keep us entertained until you start the Scimitar you've dangled under our noses!
  9. Typical I put them on last night, that being said I quite like the splash of colour! I did find one picture on an RTR website with them on so I went with it! Thanks for the info chaps
  10. Looking good, I keep fancying to try one of these, quite a bit of scope to try weathering on these russian beasts!
  11. Thanks gents I knew they'd been some knowledge out there, The Green and black scheme provided is for A Squadron, 1 RTR Tofrek Barracks, Hildesheim, Germany 1992 I'm not sure if that helps point me in either direction.... Phil
  12. Thanks Dan, I thought it was odd they weren't on there, some pictures don't show them but they look like 'modern' images so I'm wondering if they are museum pieces and hence have been overhauled....
  13. I'm at the decalling stage on the Takom Chieftain and, despite there only being a handful, I have a question! When was the Union Jack applied to the tank? The colour/decal placement guide doesn't show them on the Green/Black option but some photos show them applied and others don't, should they be there? Thanks Phil
  14. For that sort of height try cork tiles they work well I got a pack from wickes
  15. Those skirts look spot on, going to try that out on my Chieftain!
  16. I didn't know the story of the kidnapped officer though, I'll watch those videos this evening!
  17. Thanks, I came across the British Pathe news reel a while back on a previous search but you've reminded me about that one again!
  18. Good Afternoon all, I'm after some info on the British Centurion Tanks that took part in operation musketeer during the Suez crisis. I have the AFV club kit along with a bunch of extras, including the bison decals which I want to start soon, I may even put it up as a WIP. I have scoured google but info and pictures are quite few and far between so I thought I'd open it up to the BM knowledge base to see if anyone else had any useful bits of info. One thing I think I know, but could do with clarification on is the overall colour of the tanks. Google suggests BS light stone, which seems to be reasonable. Any info greatly received! Thanks in advance Phil
  19. Looking forward to this one, I'm building the Takom kit currently and I have to say I'm slightly underwhelmed. Overall it's a good kit, with nice detail, but the sprue attachment points are in some irritating places and the fit, especially around the turret was a bit iffy.
  20. Ah I see! I did something similar with the tie downs recently and it sent me cross eyed!!
  21. More great progress! Any reason why you didn't paint the skirts earlier? Was it purely due to peer pressure to get paint on the tank??
  22. You could do worse than to post a WIP thread here and ask for specific help, there's plenty of fellow modellers who would only be too happy to join in
  23. Humbrol do have a line of enamel washes, they aren't too bad compared to say Ammo or AK. Have a look at their YouTube channel it gives some useful pointers. If you want a decent range of acrylic varnishes as barriers before using enamels take a look at the Windsor and Newton range they are very good, available in hobby craft or the Range amoungst other places. They also do a range of thinners, which are cheaper then the modelling specific ones. I'd caution against using the DIY white spirits as it can be too 'hot' and attack the acrylic paints underneath. If you want too see a master at work Mig Jimenez has a few videos on YouTube that are worth watching, as too are the Adam Wilder ones which I have only just discovered. Phil
  24. Bit late to this one but I'll keep an eye on your progress! This is the ICM kit reboxed is it not?
