  1. I thought that might be the answer but hoped someone would be able to suggest somewhere I could get one cheap! Wish I'd done a bit more research now but what can you do! Ps does anyone want to buy a compressor.......
  2. I brought mine from eBay too, probably the same compressor minus the tank! I'm kicking my self now for not getting one with a tank! Hoped someone sold the tanks by them selves but not seen one yet!
  3. That's what I was worried about! I had thought of using a small diving bottle or something but I would much rather try and find a purpose built tank!
  4. I have a cheapish compressor without a tank. I assume I can add a tank, as I've seen the same compressor for sale with a tank. Is it safe, and simple, to add one myself? If so can anyone recommend where I could get one? I have done a quick Google search but all I get is industrial size tanks, not too practical in the spare room! Any help much appreciated! Phil
  5. Thanks guys managed to get it spraying! Unfortunately I rebuilt the airbrush to ensure the needle was fully chucked, didn't use the medium, only a bit of thinners and cleaned the nozzle every so often so I don't know which of these fixed it! Phil
  6. Pete, I think it's 2 or 2.5 from memory. I have it clog before but never this badly! I have a feeling I hadn't chucked the needle correctly as Mike mentioned, but I've just washed it thoroughly in water do time to try again! I'll leave the medium out this time and just go with thinners I think! Thanks guys! Phil
  7. I have the Vallejo thinners and ab cleaner so I was suspicious of the medium! Only soaking in IPA to get the dried on paint out! Thanks
  8. Mike, It can't be much above a few degrees as I'm sat with the window open and the girlfriends away so heating is off! That might be a good shout about the needle not being chocked forward I have had it to bits! Only problem with these cheap airbrushes no instructions! Cheers Phil
  9. Morning all and happy new year! I'm taking the opportunity of the bank holiday to get some on the go projects painted! I have a cheap Chinese copy airbrush which is normally ok for what I need but I've been having problems with the Vallejo air grey primer blocking the tip. I have tried adding thinners and I always add a couple of drops of golden airbrush medium. I had to flush my airbrush through with IPA before I started as it had become clogged over the Xmas break, I washed it thoroughly before I used it but could this have reacted with the paint? I get about 5 mins good spray before it stutters and starts to block. I clean the nozzle and it just blocks again so the airbrush is currently soaking in IPA again! Has anyone else had this problem too? Any expert advice would be appreciated! Thanks Phil
  10. I vote F3, I've got one to make and you can help me to decide what aftermarket I need!
  11. I'm not an expert at all but I've had a go with etch, and made may mistakes! I found super glue is ok, but goes off quick and is difficult for small parts. I also used 2 part exopy, you can get a 90 second cure one which is good as it gives you a bit more time to move it about. I got a handy little glue pen the other day from halfords that contains 90s 2 part epoxy that mixes as you apply it, not had chance to try it yet but could be good for etch. You can remove it from the etch sprue with a sharp knife, use an old ceramic tile as a cutting block to save damage to parts. Bend with plyers or you can get an etch bend kit (sorry can't remember details of where from but I read about it on here in tools and tips section). You can buy etch bending tweezers/plyers from hobbycraft, and I'm sure model shops! That's as far as my limited knowledge goes but hope it helps!
  12. Excellent thanks, I'll dig the kit out tomorrow and see what the seat looks like....might be easier to mod that....
  13. Photos would be very much appreciated thanks Phil
  14. I have had a look at their website, and if needs be I'll modify one, I was just hoping someone may be able to point me to a resin replacement I hadn't spotted!
  15. Does any one know if you can get a resin (preferably) Mk9a ejector seat for Harrier GR3 (I hope this is the right seat). I can find MK10 for FRS1 and MK9b for jags but no Mk9a? Or could I use one of the above with some mods? Any help much appreciated! Phil Oh I should mention in 1/48!!

    Varnish

I got some of the Vallejo varnishes to try, not got that far yet so can't vouch for them, but they market themselves as alternatives to the citadel paints....
  17. I'm also no expert but I tried halfords primer and had no issues with it bring grainy. It was a clumpy but I think that was me getting to close with the can! From what I've read temperature makes a big difference make sure can is at room temp before you spray and if you out side and it's cold that might have an effect. I've switched to valljeo air primer now I have an airbrush and that is fantastic, except it shows up all the blemishes of my poor surface treatment!!
  18. I notice it's been nearly a year since you posted this one but I'd be up for one of both if you're still planning to do it! Phil
  19. Thanks guys, I'd browsed that thread about tornados, got an airfix F3 to do, when I'm feeling very brave! I had a look on the website for the books very useful!
  20. Hi, I've done the usual Internet trawl looking for ref pics of various RAF jets (Jag mainly as that's next on the list!) but I would prefer something tangible in front of me. Can anyone suggest a good source a reasonably priced reference books please? Any help much appreciated. Phil
  21. Sorry little late to this one! The pit looks fantastic, how do you get such neat painting on all the buttons? Even with my smallest brush I seem to spread it on like I'm painting the wall!! Phil
  22. I couldn't find one! I ordered straight from their website. Service was pretty good
  23. I'm part way through a gr7, except I'm making an op herrick version. I can recommend the Aries pit extremely impressive details and fits like a glove. I got the AMRAAM line tiald pod, wasn't massively impressed with the detail so I'll be interested to see what the flightpath one is like! I also got the extended refuelling probe from AMRAAM, that will be a nice touch. Phil
