  1. Excellent, I have that so no paint to buy! Cheers
  2. I've been searching the net for hours looking for a colour match for the ARTF grey finish applied to the Jags flying designation missions over Bosnia in 1995. I have found a few old post on here, including some excellent finished examples, but I can't find either an FS/BS number for the colour or a suggested manufacturers paint number. Can anyone out there help me out? Phil
  3. Afternoon! I'm struggling to work out what colours the insides of a Jaguar GR1 should be. Namely, undercarriage bays, airbrake bays and the cannon bay. I think most, with exception of the Airbrake bays are a Zinc Chromate finish. I think the airbrake interiors will be the dark grey of the cammo scheme, is thus true for Gulf war desert pink finish? Assuming I'm right can anyone suggest a suitable paint out the pot or am I going to have to mix? Thanks Phil
  4. Have a look for Jon's post about it, there's a pic in there I think (sure that's how I found it). It should be easy enough to find in Lajelands though it's a white bottle (750ml I think) with a green label. Quickshine is the product name and is written in big print across the label. I can do links very easily as I'm using my phone to browse otherwise I'd add one! Phil
  5. Not sure I count as a convert as I never tried the original but it us good stuff thanks for the pointer! Plus as it's from Lakeland the better half doesn't roll her eyes too much when we have to go get some as she gets to look at baking things!
  6. I'm no expert but I think the new formular Klear isn't what it used to be! I got some Quickshine from Lakelands, after reading a thread about it on here, it brushes on very well and works wonders on canopies. I would suggest trying that. Phil
  7. Feel free to hijack! Paul listed in the earlier posts about pros and cons of Ultra vs Evo. I went for Evo as it was upgradeable. The Ultra was tempting though. I would give him a ring to discuss them, he was very helpful
  8. Thanks to all for the info, went for the H&S evo from Paul at Little Cars. Great service, arrived next day. Only managed a few short goes but already worlds apart from the old one. Only problem is now I get a good paint finish all the blemishes and poor seams show up in the primer!! Thanks Phil
  9. Ideal cheers guys! I should have mentioned the emergency landing that's what really drew me to the serial number!
  10. It was just the undercarriage I was after partly as one is broken! Is aeroclub still going?
  11. I have an Airfix Shar FA2 in build which I want to finish as ZA176 which, from research I've done, saw service in the Falklands (as an FRS1) and then in Bosnia as, I think an FA2. It's a real long shot but does any one have any pictures of it as it was during the Bosnian conflict? Any help greatly appreciated! Phil
  12. Morning, I'm after some replacement undercarridge for a 1/72 tornado F3, I've done some googling but to no avail does anyone know where I can get some? Thanks Phil
  13. I'm always up for trying a new technique and you can never have too many tools! So ifvthe price us fair I'll have a couple Phil
  14. Paul, Sounds like the solo fits the bill nicely, I'll have a look tomorrow then expect an order! Phil
  15. Thanks guys just the sort of input I was hoping for! I have to admit I have been looking at the H&S brushes, can't beat good old german build quality! I'll have to have a think if I go basic or splash out....
  16. Evening, I'm posting mostly for advice but also hopefully to cheer me up after another failed attempt with an airbrush! I have a cheap (~£25) airbrush I brought from eBay to see if I liked it. I do, when it actually works! So I'm after a replacement. I'm happy to spend £50-£80 ish but might stretch to £100 to get something that will last me a while. Can anyone make sensible suggestions as to what to look for and what to avoid! I paint indoors, so use acrylics, and mostly 1/72 and 1/48 jets so not sure I need anything for mega detail, at the moment, although the ability to upgrade would be good I guess. Spare parts are useful too I suspect, I only say this as I think the reason my current AB is done I'd due to the front seal perishing. Any help from the experts greatly appreciated!! Phil
  17. I also got one of these got off eBay, will keep an eye on this one, pick up some tips and write a shopping list for extras! Phil
  18. I've been looking for the drying retarder everywhere! I assume you stock it? If so I'll be paying you a visit!
  19. Is there any particular reamer you suggest?
  20. I had pretty much exactly the same issue a week or so ago, I posted about it. Mine turned out to be the fact I'd tried to clean my AB using IPA (cheaper than proper AB cleaner) but this reacts with Vallejo Air (not sure about other paints) and turns it to Jelly! Thought I'd share this on the off chance! Also I was directed to the Vallejo website for tips, it mentions on there that you need to clean the tip every so often as the paint will dry. There were some other suggestions if you can find my post! Phil
  21. Welcome! The weights in the nose are stop it dropping down onto it's tail, if you stand it on it's wheels, if you build it in flight then obviously not required!! The kit instructions should tell you if weight is needed and how much. I personally use standard steel nuts and washers, but I tend build 1/48 scale so have more room in the nose! You could try fishing weights as well. As well as cement superglue is good for joints that you want to set quickly, or to hold parts in place while the cement sets, also it's good for PE as is fast drying 2 part epoxy (90s aryldite for example) You can never have too many tools!! Phil
  22. I'd back up what the other guys said above! I'm newish to modelling too, well getting back into it after several years! I found looking at the WIP section of this site great for tips, the main reason I joined, and you tube is great for videos. Search for pro modeller on there he does some great videos, he has a subscription based website as well, and I believe is a member on here!
  23. The compressor is dead quiet, one of the reasons I wanted to just add a tank! It actually seems to work ok, but I'm mainly doing small 1/144 kits as 'practice' at the moment and I'm worried when I crack on with some larger kits it may struggle.
  24. See my post below and go for the one with the tank!! That's the compressor I have, minus the tank of course! Works ok, don't be tempted by the ones with free airbrushes both the ones I got broke pretty much straight away!! Compressor still going strong though!
