  1. Thanks I'd assumed singal red but just thought I'd check before I buy some paint! Phil
  2. I've added FOD covers to a build but I'm not sure what colour RED to paint them any suggestions welcome please! Thanks Phil RAF style that is
  3. Looking good! I've got one of these that I nearly started the other day! This might have spurred me to get it out the stash! Phil
  4. Well I've started! I've painted the aeroclub seats! I've been trying to finish my build for the harrier GB first, that's at paint now so should have some time to do some more. Next up I'll mod the fuselage halves to take the Fujimi canopy I'm waiting for some bits to make a decent cockpit thanks to a kind BM member! Phil
  5. Well despite the set back of one too few intake doors I've pressed on and primed her plus now the DSG overall is on plus I've had a go at fading it slightly on the upper surfaces as I assume the sun would have bleached the paint fairly quickly! Had a little incident when it fell off the stand just after I'd finished the underside so a little touch up to do. No pics at this stage, I'll take a pic once the DSG is done. Phil
  6. Nice work so far! Good to see progress despite our best efforts to hijack your build thread!! Phil
  7. I'm doing the 43 but in all over gloss black! I'd say firebirds every time though! Phil
  8. Looking very nice! I built the GR7/9 version and used the aires pit. I was surprised how well it fitted with what I'd read. I know what you mean about the IP it's extremely fiddly but you've made a great job of it. Looking forward to seeing if finished. Phil
  9. Ok I'll try and spell it! Isoproponal Alcohol. Basically it's highly concentrated alcohol used a cleaner in electronics, amongst many other things! I thing rubbing alcohol is the same thing..
  10. Yes I do! Just makes it a bit less likely to scratch the plastic with cocktail stick. I've got paint off this way loads of times without scratching it noticeably. Incidently I've not tried this but I'm going to but apparently you should dip the canopy after masking to seal the masking tape and avoid bleading. You have to run round the edges with a knife afterwards to avoid pulling all the paint off with the masking mind! Phil
  11. Try dipping a cotton bud in airbrush cleaner or failing that IPA and rub gently it should come off. Other option is to gently rub with a dry cocktail stick but that takes care not to scratch canopy. Works best if you've dipped the canopy before you masked and painted. Phil
  12. In hind sight I wish I'd kit bashed the AV8A with an italeri GR3 to make my GR1 but that's life! Yeah the tail was a real odd point of the kit! It comes with 2 tails, one with and one without RWR but why not just mould the whole thing... I know the feeling with GBs I'll see you in the tornado one too!
  13. Oh bother! They are well and truly attached and I think I'd scrap it taking them off now!! Never mind from a distance it looks like a GR1. Lesson to full check references next time I guess! Cheers for heads up about the matt finish, I'd seen the gunpods and tanks had the Lt aircraft grey on them. The harrier is pretty much ready for primer so let's hope rain clears up tomorrow! Phil
  14. I'll be watching with interest I have that kit but the black and white outlining of the camo has put me off doing it for the GB! Phil
  15. Quick question about earlier harriers anyone got any idea of colours for the wheel wells (I'm guessing lt aircraft grey as per gear) and also the airbrake bay and inside face of the brake? Thanks Phil
  16. Great choice and fantastic kit the revell GR1 great detail for the scale and falls together! Phil
  17. Course not! The kit is the hasegawa kit although I'm not sure which is better the has or revell/italeri but the revell seems easier to find! You might struggle with the decals though they are out of print. I begged some from a member on here you could try the same. Phil
  18. Thanks Steve they're ideal!
  19. Well progress slowed after the girlfriend finished work for the bank holiday! I have made some progress though Main build complete. I'm 99% happy with the seams but some work to do. I took the advice I was given and made some FOD covers. I need to add some detail to them, and I may fiddle with the dopped intake doors a bit as I'm not happy they are all open the same amount. Then it's priming time! I'll need to go out side for that as I will probably use Mr Surfacer Rattle can. Weather not the best for today so not sure when that'll get done... I have also completed some sub assemblies PE belts added to seat Rear engine exhaust nozzles and heat shield painted Under carridge painted Lt Air Craft Grey and wash added, tires need painting as do the non grey bits on the out riggers. I still can't decide on a load out. Anyone know what a standard load would have been in Belize? Phil
  20. A cheap copy then, as the sprue layout looks almost identical! You're right though, fit is not the best and and the stores are pretty poor! Rocket pods are nearly as big as the fuel tanks! I'm quite happy with how it's turned out so far, I'm no harrier expert but the shape looks ok to me! I'll wait patiently to see how you tackle the doors! Phil
  21. Morning all, This was going to be my first GB, but in the excitiment of waiting for it to get going I ended up entering the harrier and Phantom GB too so lets hope I haven't over commited! I will be trying to replicate this aircraft http://www.airliners.net/photo/UK---Air/Pa...4a3e4bf696654ba As it was in the all over black scheme. The Kit Sprues Extras The decals are from model alliance and were very kindly given to me by a BM memeber, Goose. Thanks again Alun! One thing I've found with GB is waiting to start makes me read the instructions first! I have one question hopefully some one can help with. In the flightpath set there are some panel that need opening I can find panels to match 2 of them but not the third, I think the earth lead plug in point (small panel on same side as the refuling probe) Any help would be appreciated! Phil
  22. Thanks Steve, You know what I've even got that sheet in 1/72 and it hadn't crossed my mind to do that! I'm sure I can construct the serial from spares! Phil
  23. I'm after the decals for the TTE all black demo aircraft if anyone has them? They were in a Hasegawa boxing of the kit Thanks Phil
  24. Nice work so far! I'm building the Fujimi AV8A which the more I look at it the more I think it's the same kit! I'm interested to see your take on the dropped intake doors. I used bits from a scrap airfix kit but I'm not so sure it's exactly right! Nice touch with the main gear I racked my brains for a while and ended up using bits robbed from airfix kit again. I'll watch how you do it with interest! Phil
