  1. I won't spell the proper name but basically super glue! Gel tends to be best for weights I find
  2. Fishing weights are not a bad bet.
  3. I'd be interested in a set too! Phil
  4. I spray quick shine through my H&S with no issues, as far as blocking goes. Just flush thoroughly with clean water immediately after spraying. I quite often let's the bits of the AB soak in water after too. You can usually tell if it's clear as QS turns the water a bit milky. As far as getting a good finish I agree with Mike, try closer and also lower pressure say 10-15 psi as QS is pretty thin so sprays well at lower PSI. On that point I never thin it either just straight from the bottle. I go over the kit/area/parts with a fine mist first and let that settle then I go for a wet coat. QS self levels so what may look grainy in the first pass will spread to a good damp finish after a min or too ready for another wetter coat. Best to put on a thin coat and have to go back over it than spray too much. I have found if you slip and spray too much, or it pools, you can remove the excess with some tissue or a cotton bud, just watch for fibers. It took me a few goes to get a decent finish but check the photos in my harrier GB thread for the nice glossy coat I got with QS Link to thread! http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=70950
  5. From all the research I've done they are all black, however I wait to be corrected....
  6. Looking good so far, I'm interested to see this one come together! We need a catergory foe finished bang seats, they're a kit by themselves! Phil
  7. Nice scheme! The Germans do have some nice special schemesfor the tornado. Welcome to the GB and the forum! Phil
  8. The cockpit is only decals anyway! The only real difference in the boxings, I can see from mine, is the stores. Phil
  9. I've got one tucked away with destructions, drop me a PM and I'll scan them for you. Incidently I only got the GR3 console I think! Phil
  10. Nice work so far and cheers for tip on the photos now I can see them in full screen finery! Phil
  11. Wow you must have good eyes! Looking good so far, keep it up. Phil
  12. Looking great Doug! Nearly there, it's always the last little bits that take the time though...how did you find masking the drop tanks? They were a pain in 1/72....
  13. It's a nice looking kit! I did a swap for the decals with a member on here a while back, I thought about making it for the GB but I've only got half a pot of decal sol left... Good luck Phil
  14. I've only done it on a 1/72 revell kit and it fitted a charm in the hole for the kit part. Is it one of the master ones? They suggest a drill size to make a hole in the tip of the radome, assuming there isn't one already...
  15. Finally update time! Not had much time to work on this but I have about finished the pit, always my favourite part of a build! Painted in Vallejo model air US grey which I think is a pretty good scale match for Dk Admiralty Grey. Dry brushed in light grey and silver to bring out details and a dark wash on the panels. I tried something new for me on the IP and drilled out the instrument faces . I've added the kit decals to some sheet styrene to stick on the back of the IP. Hopefully the dials will show through. I'm a little concerned as the IP are quite thick but we'll see... Firstly sorry the pics are upside down and secondly sorry they are rubbish I only have my phone camera!! I've asked for an SLR for my birthday bit that's not till November! Bang seats are also nearly done just need a paint to arrive for the belts as I'm fed up of mixing and never getting near the right shade! Phil
  16. Thanks Rob, decaling is one of my favorite parts of the build, starts to look like it should then! Look forward to seeing the pics!
  17. Having sneaked a look at Dougs 1/48 GR1 build I can see the missing vents Bill mentioned now, along with the light missing on the rear upper wing section/fuselage join. Both of these look to be easy add on....famous last words! Phil
  18. Wow you're a brave man! I got some of the retrowings intakes with dropped doors for s harrier never knew you could get all this resin for 1/144!! Where did you get it from? Good luck I'll be watching this one! Phil
  19. Cheers Dermot, I've started a phantom for that GB as well so I've probably over committed, bit I never have just one kit on the go...
  20. Doh! So that's 2 slight slip ups! Oh well I would never have known unless someone pointed it out so I'll still be happy to put it on the shelf! I've not forgotten the stores or ardens they will be fitted right at the end, as the fuel tanks and ardens are gloss rather than the matt finished added to the airframe (or so I've been told). I'm really happy with how the cammo came out. Plus side is as well I hate masking so I'll do that again! Coat of QS is drying now to seal decals before more weathering, soot stains from engines and tone down the decals a bit. Phil
  21. Nice job! Got one of these tucked away and I feared the decals maybe a pain! Phil
  22. I've made some more progress, not much though as trying to get a harrier done for that GB too! I've started on the pit, I'm not sure how much of the flightpath set I'll use, maybe just the cast rear IP top section (to replace the incorrect kit part). I'm less impressed with this set than I have been with previous FP offerings. The pilot IP doesn't look to fit over the kit part well and the rear IP is one piece, including the front of the monitors, which has nice detail included in the casting! I'll save the rear etch for a future F3 using the Revell kit! No pictures yet, sorry, I'm stuck with my phone camera, which takes decent enough shots, as long as the lights good, which it wasn't last night! Phil
  23. Nice start! I've got one of these tucked away so I'll be watching to see how it goes together! Phil
