  1. That's looking outstanding! I love that toneall effect you've got, did you just add White to base colours or are there some other pigments in there? Phil
  2. What did you do? It's bleeding! Sorry been a long day! Good luck Phil
  3. Thanks. I'll see how brave I'm feeling to attempt something that looks like that! Phil
  4. Looking great so far! Seeing all these big tonkas take shape is making me wish I had the room to display anything bigger than 1/72! Phil
  5. Yes sweep marks! Sorry the explaination was poor! How about the metallic look? I guess that's just likely to be wear? Phil
  6. Does anyone know if the areas on the wing that go inside when wings are swung, would have been painted black on the all black F3 or left the grey colour they normally are? I assume they wouldn't have been painted. Also are they grey or a metallic colour? I notice in some photos in the ref thread they appear metallic, is the due to wear? Thanks in advance Phil
  7. Hmmm progress is slow, well non existent! Trying to clear some other projects first should restart very soon! Phil
  8. I was airbrushing and using the bluetak approach for masking my self but I'm not so patient so I had a go free hand on my last kit. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be! With a bit more practice I think it'll be my method of choice. I say go for it! Phil
  9. Really nice job on an ace looking aircraft! How did you paint it? Brush or AB? Is cammo free hand? Just interested! Phil

    Decal Hell

I can highly recommend quickshine! I've built the revell 1/144 tornado, painted with acrlyics and gloss coats with QS had I had no issues with the decals so maybe that does point to the W&N varnish? I've used their Matt which is very good but I had heard the gloss was not so good! Phil
  11. So you have! And I even commented!! Must be Monday...
  12. Very nice indeed! You could always do another one fir the GB there's still time!! Phil
  13. Thanks Steve, hopefully you won't have to wait too long as there's not many bits to tidy up after primer...for once! Phil
  14. Update: The last bits have gone together very easily. I've done some thing I don't normally do and added all the PE aerials etc as although I know I'll knock at least one off at some point I wanted to see if they looked part of the airframe that way. In between cutting the lawn I managed to get a coat of primer on it too! Tonights job mask canopy add add all the PE details to it! Next up paint!
  15. Looking good! I will send you those instructions for the pit if you still need them? Are you stuck for something to make the ejection handles from? I have just the thing! Drop me a PM and I'll explain! Be a shame to leave such a nice looking kit unfinished!! Phil
  16. Thanks guys, I'm pretty happy with how it's turned out! I hadn't spotted the airbrake! It was only tacked on so I've straightened it up! The camera on my phones not too bad as long as the lights good so I'll take more outside later. Phil
  17. No didn't mean it like that! I just recognize the pit from the pics above, with the moulded seat bases! Phil
  18. Looking good so far! That first phantom you did wouldn't be the one I've butchered for spares would it?? Phil
  19. I'm all done! I haven't updated that WIP for a while as I've been doing all the small additions, plus varnishing. Here are a couple of pics, I'll take some better ones and post them under RFI. My camera is naff, phone camera, so will have to wait for the weather to be better to take them outside.
  20. Update time! Been slow progress due to work and social life getting in the way! Bang seats are finished These are airwaves seats as the flightpath ones are underscale, the one in the middle is a flightpath seat. They look very odd in the cockpit! Front section buttoned up with cockpit in. I took too much off when removing the GR style rear IP top half so had to add a base, for the replacement part to sit on, with styrene sheet. Front and rear sections joined and some sink holes filled. Not sure this kit is of the current Hasegawa standards, fit is not perfect and there are a few nasty sink holes. Some PE parts added too, wing seals here, and thrust reverser details That's it for now, next up to sort the seam between front and rear sections then the fin and rear horrizontal stabilisers, plus some more PE details. Thanks for looking! Phil
  21. Very nice! Been following your build closely for the GB. Definitely inspired me to track one down. Phil
  22. I was using those along with the painting guide that cane with the seats! Thanks again. Phil
  23. Thanks! It's the base colour I was struggling with. I don't know why it's the little things that I get hooked on! Now I can finish my bang seats for the tornado STGB! Phil
  24. This one? http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=67926 Phil
  25. Morning all, I always struggle to mix colours for some reason, maybe I don't have an artistic brain! My real nemesis is getting a colour match for harnesses on Ejector seats. I have an old set of airwaves painting instructions that reference tarnished brass as a good match, but I can't find that in acrlyic anywhere. Anyone suggest an out the bottle mix, not too fussy about brand but prefer acrylic. Any help much appreciated! Phil
