    Mirage IVA vs IVP

    Hi Guys,

     

    Does anybody know if there was any external differences between the Mirage IVA & the Mirage IVP? I have both the Heller & A&A Mirage IVA kits, but would like to do a IVP. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks for the information. I did try a search, but found nothing, hence the question, but that could have been me!

    I intend to do this scheme using the latest 1/72 Airfix kit. Does anybody know where I can get the decals?

    MiG-31 Variants

    Thanks for the information. I believe when the Mig-31B was fitted with IFR it was designated MiG-31BS.

    Luckily, both kits are fitted with the IFR. I will probably look to do one with and one without.

    MiG-31 Variants

    I recently bought the new Begemot sheet on the Mig-31 (options for 50 a/c!). One of the options I was thinking of doing is labeled as a MiG-31DZ. I've checked my references and looked on the internet, but cannot find any mention of this sub-type. There was a MiG-31D, which was a version to launch anti-satellite missiles, but only 1 or 2 were built.

    Can anybody provide any information on the MiG-31DZ and also, what were the external differences, if any, to the MiG-31B. I have the Zvezda and Condor kits.

    CAC CA-12 Boomerang

    I was wondering if anybody out there could help. On my travels I picked up the Special Hobby 1/72 CAC CA-12 Boomerang "Early Version" (SH 72044). When I got home and opened the box, I found the instruction sheet was missing. As I wont be in the area of the model shop for some time, could anybody send me a scan.

    Thanks for the comments. I've already decided to do at least 3 or 4 more at some point. I guessed it could be a real tail sitter, but as it sits so low to the ground, if I fail to prevent it, I'll put a clear plastic prop where it's hardest to see.

    Revell 1/72 Vampire

    Hi Guys,

    I've just bought the Revell (ex-Heller) 1/72 Vampire. The Box says it's an FB.5 whereas the sprue says it's a Mistral. Were there any external differences between the 2 and if so, what were they and which version is the kit?

    I'm building the Roden Antonov An-12. Can anybody confirm the colours of the 2 recent overall grey schemes. One of the greys used has a blue tint. Also, which paints are the nearest?

    I've just received my copy and thought I'd contribute something here as it's an extremely good book, which I thoroughly recommend, and some might dismiss it because of the price. 54 Euros (including p&p) is a lot of money for most people, but if you are interested in the Fw190 and/or the Mediterranean theatre, then it's definitely worth it. If your interest is the Luftwaffe, then I still think it's worth it.

    This book is a follow on from their previous “Fw 190 in North Africa”, but this time they have published it themselves. Anybody who has the previous book will know what to expect, a thoroughly researched and comprehensively covered subject.

    After the Forward and Introduction the book is divided into 8 chapters. The first chapter summarises the situation at the start of the period covered and the units that were involved, followed by a day to day coverage of operations in the form of a war diary. The following chapters start with a brief introduction, then the main bulk is the war diary style coverage of the period finishing with a few paragraphs in conclusion.

    These are followed by 10 Appendixes, which includes loss lists, victory lists including shipping and ground claims plus claims by escorting fighters, camouflage and markings and bombing tactics.

    Within the text, as well as 137 b&w and 3 colour photos, there are maps showing flight routes and the areas involved, illustrations made at the time by the pilots involved, tables and text boxes of additional information and 11 specially commissioned artwork by Claes Sundin, which are reprinted full pages size in the appendix and include 2 Bf109s and 2 Spifires, the rest being Fw190s. These 11 prints on there own would cover the cost of the book and a bit more. To my knowledge, none of the luftwaffe aircraft have been illustrated before. I don't know about the Spitfires.
