  1. I don't think the LP range is the same as the TS? Thanks for the heads up so I can avoid the same issues in future. Rick.
  2. Shame to see them go. I never did get to fly in one, but I had a "Boeing Bite" from working in the hold one day. The darn thing nearly took the end off my boot! Damn big inside the cabin when in cargo role. Rick.
  3. I personally haven't used balsa for years, but in the old days I used cellulose dope to seal it before painting with hairy stick/Airbrush. The dope was used because tissue paper was attached to it (RC gliders). Based on that, I'd seal it first with some sort of varnish maybe? Balsa soaks up stuff very easily. Watching with interest, as I've a Balsa Chipmunk to do soonish. HTH, Rick.
  4. Blimey! 2x Texans again. Nought feet. From never seeing them round here to three in two days! Bring it on! Oh, and they sound much nicer than the usual A400M's. Rick.
  5. I do the same as everyone here, but I do seem to suffer more with silvering now than I ever did in the past. It's driving me mad on a few builds at the moment. I reckon the decals have changed in some way. Maybe a process has been removed because a chemical is killing us? It's mainly stencils that I have trouble with. I'm just about to go down the mask route for roundels etc. I'm also looking into wet transfers, but the range is limited. Rick.
  6. Modern Texan at naught feet last night. Don't see anything like this round here anymore, just the usual big stuff out of Brize (to never let me forget the place!). Sounded ace. I think of modern day Spitfires when I see and hear them! Rick.
  7. I agree about using masks, but I'm not convinced MRP paints are the way forward for a large kit. It's way too thin and takes forever to cover a large area for my liking. I bought some for a 1/35th tank and have put Tamiya down first to cover, and topped off with MRP, otherwise it was going to cost a fortune in time and money. Just my opinion of course. 😁 Rick.
  8. Love the build, but I'm one of the blokes who worked on the VC10 and loved it's beautiful lines and Conway's sounds! I'm torn! Well done on inspired, high quality build though! Rick
  9. Certainly agree on the new Tamiya kits. Truly stunning. The two new Revell Spitfires are good too, although they need a little work to correct some inaccuracies (the MKIIa is more like a MKVa with odd looking wheels!). Dead cheep if you shop around. They also make a pretty good P51D. Again, very cheep. If you want to spend the money I'd go with the Tamiya kits. I've done gone with both! Hth Rick.
  10. Oh! You mean the MR3 from Bruntingthorpe, not Coventry! Bit of confusion moved in there. Sorry. You had me worried there. Rick.
  11. I'm confused. I know of WR963 MR2 at Coventry. That's still there. Was there another hidden somewhere?? Rick.
  12. It's moved? Missed that one. When did it go? That must have taken quite an effort. Rick.
  13. Will the film makers be changing/making up history again? I'll probably give it a swerve, no matter who stars in it. Rick.
  14. I've seen loads over the years. IoM being the main place! I settled on the CBR600 instead. I have a couple of RC30's in the stash, one built, apart from the fairing. I may look into that photoetch. It looks good. Rick.
  15. The most beautiful bike ever made IMHO! Wish I'd bought one when offered new at £12k. Nicely done Sir! Rick.
  16. Stop showing off Steve! Love this build, makes me want to dig out my original. Rick.
  17. Jeez, you lot lost me days ago! Run it by me again. 😁 Rick.
  18. I've used 99.9% IPA undiluted for years. I did have some weaker brand, but it was useless. I'd stick with the 4 star version. Rick.
  19. My father built one of those years ago. Hutchinson in blue with square cab (not overly popular at the time, but I liked it..). It came out quite well. I have a load of IoM Railways kits of various description. I don't have an interest in railways as such, but I do have a soft spot for the IoM (spent way too much time over there!). The thing about the IoM railways is everything has to be either scratch built or one of the few kits that exist. I think that's what draws me to it! My build probably won't be a loco, as mine are more than 20% built, but I will throw in some wagons. Not sure I'll have the time for etched brass coaches these days. Rick.

I did worse, I dunked mine in a fine single malt one night. Cleaned the brush a treat. Rick.
  21. I also forgot that bit too! Oops. Rick.
  22. It'll help the day go by..... Actually, not sure if Steve (HiroBoy) is doing click and collect at the moment. I'm in no hurry anyway, spent too much on projects during furlough. Rick.
  23. Ah yes, I know of it, but not taken the plunge yet. HiroBoy are 20 mins away from me and do click and collect (Takes about a week though, but saves on P+P). Hmm, need to give it a go. Rick.
