  1. Got to love the Daily Mail reporting! Thankfully everyone safe. Investigation will be held. The Chinook is a tough old bird and most likely did fly home without issue. It certainly would have had a replacement crew though! Rick.
  2. Thanks Chaps. Yes these lacquers are great to work with. I used their retarder for this, but also now have their retarder thinners to try too. It has a different smell, so I'll be interested in how it works. The one thing I'd say about this kit in the negative, you can't easily split the body. The cab and rear wing are two pieces pre-glued together. The body colour is prepainted a blue that's close enough to the Tamiya Mica Blue, so you don't have a problem. If you wanted, say, to paint it red, you'd have to do some surgery to split the parts. It doesn't look impossible, but would take extra time and clean-up. £7.99 Nick? Bargain! I'd grab a few of those at that price! Rick.
  3. Chaps. I actually bought this as a paint mule for testing the new Tamiya Lacquers, so kind of threw it together. I now feel guilty about this as it's actually quite a nice kit! Yes, it's a Snap Together kit, but it does come with a painting guide and very good decals (or stickers..). The fit is pretty good too. It's no Tamiya, but it's also at least £20 less! You quite often see these in Hobbit Kraft for as little as a tenner, so I'll definitely pick another one up at some point and do a decent job of it. Sorry, not great photo's and quite a bit of dust flying around today! Tamiya Mica Blue LP-41, Gloss Aluminium LP-70, Alclad Gloss black and a mix of various other paints for the inside etc. No gloss coat or primer used. Cheers, Rick.
  4. Lots of activities this last few weeks. Including the usual out of Brize, Hercs, Atlas, Voyager and now Texans from North Wales. The latter are an exciting new addition to this area and long may they continue! Usually at nought feet too! Nice. There was one A400 at nought feet East to West, just hopping over the Malvern's and disappearing around Creden hill....... Rick.
  5. RAF Hercules C130J C4. Out of Brize. The bulges are the countermeasures. HTH Rick.
  6. Never had trouble with Vallejo MA, other than their primer wouldn't stick very well. I use Halfords or Tamiya primer with no issues. I find I still need to add a touch of W&N Galaria Flow Improver to stop it drying on the tip. I suspect the primer. Hth. Rick.
  7. Tamiya are my go to kit for mojo busting. You just know they'll go together easily and aren't to expensive either. Their older kits are amazingly cheep. Eunos (curb side) £12, older Honda NSX (full engine)£15. Bargains! The one to be careful with is the old style Minis. Lovely kits (full engine), but now being sold for silly money. Tamiya, please re-release them! Rick.
  8. Thanks chaps, just read your information from the other post. I'll digest and look into both options. I personally don't have any issues with chemicals, software or patience, so should ok with either option. Cheers. Rick.
  9. Is that with customs duty when coming from the Mainland to Cornwall Dave? 🤣 Rick. PS, I'd love the GT40, but spent too much already this lock-down.
  10. This soon! Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls. Rick.
  11. Chaps. I could do with a bottle of this stuff, but can't find anybody stocking it in the UK. Anybody know where I can get it without selling a kidney or small child (I possible would consider a slightly older child though..)? Rick.
  12. HiroBoy do the correct red, but it'll need airbrushing and will be a matt coat, needing a good gloss varnish when finished. Not sure if that helps chap? Rick.
  13. Chaps. I hope to be in the market for a home 3D printer later in the year. As of now what's recommended as a starter? What price point? It has to be something readily available in the UK and has good consumable/parts back-up. Cheers. Rick. Etc.
  14. Excellent idea Mike! I hope to be on the market for a 3D printer later in the year (job depending..), so am interested in which printer type etc. My background is laser printers, so have been expecting a move into a 3D dimension for quite a few years now. Now it looks like a reality. I'll be watching with interest. Rick.
  15. There's a few more on the bench before this one sadly. I'm looking forward to the decals. Not! Rick.
  16. It turned up this morning! Excellent Jadlam service, as usual! Yeah! Rick.
  17. I too love my Iwata and certainly don't find stripping and cleaning a problem. Mind you, I actually loved stripping L85's too when others hated it! I find it quite relaxing. Rick.
  18. That's been my excuse to the wife about my stash for the last 30years! She pointed out "you can't afford to retire because of my spending on said stash"! Also, when I do retire my build rate is such that I'll need to live till I'm about 250 years old! Rick.
  19. You would be able to get a replacement, at a cost, from the importer. I've just bought a new set of tracks for one of their tanks. Pretty reasonable price and quick delivery. EDIT. Glue it back together and use Tamiya "Smoke" to tint the screen maybe? My first CBR600 had a smoked screen, quite the rage back then! Rick.
  20. Good to see you chap! Rick.
  21. Gulp! Better have a stocktake and shopping session. It could be the toilet roll problem all over again. Rick.
  22. Yep, I remember that. I used it quite a bit when young for doing school projects. Can you still get it? Rick.
