  1. That makes sense and I have some Swan lighter fluid kicking about (no idea why, must have tried it as mixer..). Stirring isn't an issue, good old electric stirrers.... As my OP, it's the thinning the contents in the tin for long term storage that's of interest. The applying to models is quite a different subject and I'll stick with cellulose or white spirit substitute, depending on the situation/application method. Cheers chaps. Rick.
  2. I'll give it a try, it's not like I only have a couple to play with! Rick.
  3. I was thinking of white spirit substitute, but is this completely compatible with cellulose thinners for when I use the Iwata on them? Some of these are ancient, but brilliant to use! Rick.
  4. Either tell her to "F.. Off!" very loudly (Scare tactics... doesn't always go well...), or just always be pleasant to her. This usually drives them mad eventually. You could go all religious on them and start talking in tongues... This may not work, but it'll be laugh! Neighbours can be a challenge, and make your life a misery. thankfully, we currently have a good bunch around here. Good luck.
  5. Hi all. I've fallen back in love with enamels and my late Father collected quite a few Humbrol tins. Just a quick Q. Some of these are now quite thick in the tin. What's the best stuff to add to the tin to thin them out a bit? I use cellulose (or Colorcoats) to thin them for the Airbrush and Revell enamel thinners seems to work well for the hairy stick (takes ages to dry though), but would Humbrol thinners be better for adding to the tin? Your thoughts please... Rick.
  6. I went with the 3M7502 with 6051 filters. Works a treat, no smell at all from any paint I use (Lacquer through to enamel's etc). Nice and lightweight too. Not cheap (£60 two years ago) but should last for years and the filters are readily available. Rick.
  7. Pegasus was the only game in town for some types. They did the Balliol back in the day and that fetched quite a bit of money. When Special Hobby did theirs I put mine up on eBay. It still went for far too much IMHO. Then the bloke complained to me about how much he paid for it! Got to love eBay... Keep em, build em and enjoy the experience of short run kits. It'll make a man of you! Rick.
  8. Good old BM! I was just pondering this very issue and have now found an answer. Thanks Ray! As a matter of interest, has anyone tried the "Revell Weathering Pigment set" ? I ask as this set is readily available locally. Rick.
  9. Yes, and it helps that I get a little discount too...! Rick.
  10. .... Also, it say's it's enamel. Anyone had any issues with other types of paint going over it? Rick.

    Wilko Primer.

Hi. Has anyone had any recent experience with these Wilko primers? Are they any good? BTW, this is a POST ref just Wilko primers, not "Well I use..." thread! 🤣 Rick.
  12. A couple of thoughts Sprue. Has the tape been left on the model for any length of time and/or allowed to get warm? I've had the same with Tamiya tape, in the past, when left in those conditions. Their X-20A acrylic (NOT lacquer!) thinners removes the residue quite well, but could also damage the Klear... Rick.
  13. How bad must someone's driving be to able to double their MPG with their ideas?! 🤣 Diminishing returns.... Rick.
  14. E10 nasty unleaded is near £1:70 in Upton now. Diesel obviously higher. I need a full tank, which was about £65 two weeks ago (having Covid has saved me a fill-up, result!). I'm guessing at about £75 next week. On a plus note, spoke to our supplier today, Ecotricity (not a bad bunch really..). We have Gas and Electric with them. With a bit of juggling we've reduced it by about £150/month! I guess they'll get the own back later... They're increasing prices next month, but only by a few pence a unit. They increased late last year so don't have to increase much this time. Hmmm...... Rick.
  15. That looks fantastic! Roll on a 1/48th boxing.. Rick.
  16. Unfortunately, not an option due to my type of work and pattern..
  17. This time last year, my car was costing £44/week to fill up. At the beginning of last week it was £66. I need to fill up today, but not sure I can afford it! At this rate I'll soon be better off not working. Rick.
  18. I feel your pain. Mine's now £500+ a month! I shower at work, the tumble dryer hasn't been used since last October and everyone in the house now has strip wash's. It's absolutely painful now. Still, there are people far worse of than us out there... Rick.
  19. The Human Error: https://www.facebook.com/thehumanerrorband Played Drummonds in Worcester last night. Excellent stuff! Rick.
  20. I can't find them on Hannants, do you have a link by any chance? They may, of course, be OOP. Rick.
  21. I'll check next time I'm in there 😉 Rick.
  22. Yep, looks easy enough to do. I have all of the decals needed anyway. Anyway, I'm more interested in the other aircraft that were there over the time frame. Back to the OP, any other sources of decals for the other airframes? Rick.
  23. Thanks for that. I have loads of roundels, so should be ok. Cheers. Rick.
