  1. Just a quick one Colin, when dishing them out like warm buns, don't let them all go until I've seen you... (At least two, maybe a third depending on price.)
  2. My reasoning with my wife is that I'm buying them now for when the kids move out and I'll have more time to do them. She has the idea that we'll be spending more time together. *cough* whatever *cough*
  3. Good tuition - ta. Sat by the pool on me jollies and a small part of me wished I had brought some of my modelling stuff with me, just to try these tips. Cheers.
  4. Yes, we nicknamed one of the -200s in that series George. Some of us also liked going inside (G-) BUSH. Oh, the laughs we had.
  5. Were the BCal ones the few -100 series that were produced? If I remember they were distinguishable by their lack of winglets and were the only A320s on BA's fleet for many years (after the BCal buyout). Ready to be corrected though.
  6. Sorry yes, an under the belt comment from me. It all worked out ok in the end, so I reckon I'm in the clear. Great work on the PE. Re the rigidity issue, I've always thought CA to be very brittle with the slightest knock sending the bit pinging off somewhere. What are the long term effects of using PVA though? Can't remember if it's paintable (certainly not with water-based paints). I guess the problem is that PE, and resin I suppose, doesn't bond/ weld like plastic. I would guess the best way would be to solder PE together, but then the scale effect can be lost.
  7. Those catwalks look great, so far - watch the thinners tin. When I opened my envelope from WEM I saw these and they filled me dread. They still do a little bit.
  8. Almost as good as new, if not better. I had planned (in my mind's eye) to have a removable section of the flight deck -between the lifts- to show the hangar and some a/c being worked on. With all the fit/ strength/ alignment issues you've suffered, would you recommend I think again?
  9. We took backpacks and stuff into Yeovilton last year, and lucky old me was the only one of five of us to get the 'excuse me sir, would you mind stepping...' One of those faces apparently. The searchers were perfectly ok with all manner of stuff we had, in fact the couple in front of us trailed a pull-along cold box full of wine and cheese and never got the pat down.
  10. Definitely different scheme. I like it. Where did you get the figure from? I've got some the WEM PE ones and some of the Tamiya ones too, but they lack something. Ah yes, a belly and some ribs etc.
  11. A 'catch me natural', love it. Are they 45gallon drums on the rear? They surely can't be fuel tanks, can they?
  12. I'm in no way a proponent of the F35, but with all the investment in the world, would Harriers still be flying in thirty years time? In 2044 would people be saying, if only we'd invested in F35 thirty years ago...
  13. Ugh, damage control team for'd! At the double! Royal Navy ship's captains aren't known for panicking. Doesn't look too bad after cutting out. I suspect hardest part will be hiding the new seam across the flight deck. Was the Sea Dart blast 'amphitheatre' thing on at the time? Hope that (probably expensive) work of art wasn't too damaged.
  14. * I really hope Airfix's 350 scale HMS Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carriers complete with a full air wing of F35s, Merlins, Chinooks and Ospreys, at a reasonable price, will be better fitting *
  15. Really like this. Now, if you could provide a kit-form copy for me to make my own I'd be quite grateful.
  16. I've spent many days trawling around the Normandy Beaches and landing areas through work and what not, and they are the most thought provoking and emotional places I've ever been to. Standing on top of the cliffs at the US cemetery looking down onto Omaha Beach it is so hard to imagine the history of the place. Even my cynical and disinterested wife and kids were moved. The whole area has an aura about it. I hope you enjoy your trip.
  17. Wow, I'm pretty impressed by this. I've just looked at it and I like it very much. First off, great box - inner and outer! Second, decal quality is much better than their 767. Thirdly, having built the 767 and was impressed by that, I think this looks and feels even better than that. (Note, not built it yet - impressions only.) Only question is how does one finish it? It'd be a shame to waste the interior and build it flaps down. Similarly, it'd be a shame to waste the flaps and just have the door open. Too many options... Maybe I'll build it with a cut out like that C-47 that's being done at the mo. Anyone know where I can get decent 144th sitting passengers from?
  18. Thanks for the info John. I will watch that when I finally get round decal time.
  19. Interesting. Doing something to tie in with a future Airfix release perhaps? If you say it isn't, we won't believe you. If you say it is, we erm, will erm, think of something else.
  20. On a similar subject, does anyone know what happened to the 1/72 single Squirrel that was almost released before MA/ Airframe's demise?
  21. Hello again. Yes I've done a bit, but I've been mostly doing some of the aircraft for my future build of HMS Illustrious. Detailing in 144th is easy compared 350th! I've altered the spoilers on the Landor BA and I've done some interior bits and bobs for the Negus Airtours. I plan to have the Airtours one with its door open, airstairs out and front baggage door open. I've also knocked up a Houchin GPU to go 'on' the scene. I think it might be a bit over scale (under scale? Bigger than it should be). What do you think? Thanks Lufty, yes I've accounted for that by scribing parallel with the trailing edge. On the real thing it's not much of a gap, so I reckon it'll pass. See pic below of a poorly 73 - from the Google... Below is a pic of the bits of the Airtours one. See the GPU, some seats, the passenger door, forward hold area & forward area of other side that has the airstairs orifice (soon to be filled). I've done bits on the engines too. The Airfix ones are rather skinny, as mentioned earlier, they've been filled out a bit. I've also cut up, added, and almost ready for sticking together the reversers. Above pic also shows my sponsor. Comments always welcome. On the models stuff, not the beer
  22. I'm not a tight-wad or anything, but I do like a discount, so do the trade stands do much in the way of cheapies?
  23. I've had another good look at this and it real is outstanding. Not just the modelling, which is great, but the sentiment too. How it represents the mood of the 'soldier' from the initial bravado and arrogance of the first steps into Russia, to the grim reality of the fight: the weather, is impressive.
  24. Great looking model you've got there. Love the blue belly. It has inspired me to get on with mine! I did start my first WIP thread on a twin build of 737-2s. Shameless plug: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234946690-airfix-737-200-twin-build/ I WILL DO AN UPDATE!!!
  25. Ah yes. Note to self, engage brain before replying... Just looked on the instruction PDFs again and they're on there too, but greyed out. Hopefully it means that they'll be included in the kit, but just not needed for the Aeroflot version.
