Yes it could be a tricky one? Maybe use a marker pen for the black outline? Then "dry brush" over for a matt look?

Therefore are old model kits comparible to vintage wine? Once opened value goes down? £40 is a lot, but cheaper than a night out. I have paid more for a lump of plastic, which adorns a shelf in my living room. Some conversation and interest is caused. However If I sold it on E-bay?? Probably get a tenner?

Sweet jesus and all the little orphans? Bet the crew didn't suffer. I like the way the tree is holding the barrel and upper hull up. Is that a for sale sign at the bottom of the pic?

Not enough Panzer 3 or 4 variants?? What about the Egyptian stuff? I love Dragon? They give some of their moulds to Revell? I bought a cheap Acadamy Panzer 4 and the Bergerpanzer conversion kit by Verlinden. Just before Dragon released the complete kit. Gutted. Or was it Trumpeter? I forget?

Fruilmodel, white metal tracks. Not cheap though but moveable! If you like to play with the upper sag on your kit. Probably £22 from Hannants, get some plasters too!

With firework night just passed I would say, build a kit and put some bangers next to it? For maximum effect? Seriously Panzer wrecks is the best option.

I don't know the kit myself? Other seperate track links kits , I usually paint the links on the sprue. Once dried and your suspension assembled. As said above. Stick the links together using poly cement. Using a straight edge such as a ruler. Leave for maybe an hour? The links will have stuck together but the glue not gone hard. Therefore pliable around the idler wheels and sprockets. You can also get some realistic "sagging" between the wheels if need be? If possible? Fit the top part of the kit after dealing with the tracks and suspension. Touch up the tracks later with paint and a brush. I admit this is a long winded way of building kits. Paint assemble, paint assemble etc. Also make sure the track links are pointing the right way. Hope this helps?

I would hazard a guess at the "garish" paint scheme of dark green base, with sand yellow and brown with outlines? Unusual subject that one?

The Panzer 3 above looks amazing! Artisticly spot on, for something that has been left in the Lybian desert for years on end. Maybe put it in a diaroma with some camel travellers pinching steel off it? However I have seen builds from a military modelling site, of a similar tank, that looked like some vandals poured nitromors over the thing? Much praise was added to the effect. However my gripe is , would the sargeant major/ captain, be that happy, with one of his subordinates letting their vehicle get that badly maintained? Army states "paint the grass green"! Vehicles get knocked about in battle, they still get maintained though. Nice pics all the same.Winge over. -
A very nice used and scruffy panther. How it would have looked. Show winner.

I got an interest in it myself, mainly WW2 german stuff, or armoured cars converted to run on rails.A lot of eastern font German armoured trains were a tad ad hoc. Reinforced box carriages with T-34 or T-26 turrets fixed on top! Not much about in the train world that matches up to 1/35th or 41mm track. Apart from Trumpeter or some eatern european kit makers. Revell/Dragon and Trumpeter are the most common. RPM have done some Russian stuff . Can sometimes find their kits on e-bay. I've seen some Russian and Polish armoured train kits about in 1/72nd scale which look good.

I thought I was doing something wrong? You can learn a lot on here?

No worries! I'm just a newbie who got the wrong end of the stick.

I would have said that the tires on you car are not black. A dark very dull grey? Oh dear this post has opened a can of worms? Possibly dead ones? Which are black?

Cheers Mike, I'll give that Vallejo a try.

Good techniques from above Stormed , it does work. Only trouble I find with brush painting is the finish comes out as a satin look. Which is great for showroom cars and motorbikes. Not so great for the "used" look. If you want a true matt look , airbrushing is best. Airbrush on the sprue or go for the painfull task of masking the finished article. By the way you could cheat and go for a dry brush muddy look!!??
-
Some parts are better off painted on the sprues. Before the kit is put together. I am assuming you are talking about paint on wheels running onto tires, or vise versa?

I aint had a room full of planes since I was a kid. Now I got a shed full of tanks! Really like that Tornado though. Top banana very good work.

Sorry phat trev but the above posts are correct. SU-100 was mass produced from sept 1944 onward. It was used en masse in Hungary march 1945, so possibly captured exampes used against their owners? By 1945 less than 2500 were built. So not very common by Russian standards? SU-85 is similar in appearance, albeit different gun mantlet, built 1943 to 44. However I'm no purist and I am working on a couple of "what if"projects myself. Stick some jerrycans, panzergrenadiers and black crosses on it. Who will know the difference?

Captured Russian equipment used by the the Germans was mainly T-34's and KV's. Adapted or modified to suit German use. I believe a lot were field conversions? Probably the most common captured equipment was Russian field artillery. Such as the various 7.62cm. IBM do a PAK 36 ® which was used by the Afrika Korps! Some Katyusha rockets were fitted to opel and french half tracks. Not a huge amount of detail on this subject, as not many photographs exist. Best bet is to surf the net, there are some drawings about.
