Hats off to Holly a future artiste!

I'll third that. Still got my old Tamiya 222... somewhere? Photoetch looks a lot better than the old "vinyl" mesh. Are you keeping the 20mm gun? Just suggesting an upgrade to a 28mm taper bore model. Although I'm not sure if the D.A.K actually used that weapon?
-
Have you tried superglue gel?
-
Sorry to sound ignorant. Why use talc with superglue? If I have gaps on some Ill fitting kits,I use plastic putty or filler? Then sand or file it down. Not into alchemy so remain confused.

It' wood, so therefore the deck of a U.S aircraft carrier? A definate "what if" . Top build mate, I like Bronco a lot.

Hello Jamieb. How did you find the miniart kit? Are they a bit flimsy? Do the parts fit together well?

Hmm very brave? I would be inclined to do a Time Team diorama replica of a crashed one , with a Tony Robinson replica standing by it?? -
It will all be over by Christmas - Part 1

Yep definately a Sea Fury. Although to the untrained eye, could be mistaken for a Tempest 2? -
Thats one mother of a tank! Very nice work. I would leave it as is. Think a diorama would detract attention.
-
Hello good evening and welcome ! Tank looks realistic.

Mr. Potato Head, welcome to the site by the way. I'm experimenting in improving my air brush skills myself. However there is much opinion on this subject? My airbrush is better than yours, my paint is better than yours, etc. Enamel gives a great finish, but takes time to try and much hassle in cleaning, white spirit, smell and fumes. Acrylic is easier to get on with. Cleaning more so ,with tap water and washing up liquid. Some say use dionised water or appropriate thinners? Vallejo is very good with normal water. Tamiya paints have a good colour range as far as I am concerned, use X-20 A for thinners, although there is a cheaper alternative, some say. It's a matter of trial and error to see what you get on with. If you had a custom car you would use oil based paint, for the depth of shine. On the other hand if you wanted paint to resist stone chips more you would use cellulose. Swings and roundabouts? I am using acrylic, for airbrush presently and vallejo for brush painted stuff. Hopefully this has added much confusion? Mr T-Tango, nice Albatros by the way.

There is some realistic "bubbling up " rust effect around the rain runner drains. Typical of many mini's. Looks good! I would say the minilite wheels look a tad " chrome" ? maybe a flatter silver look for the ally/ magnesium look?

That looks interesting! I like th S.U. carbs on the blower.

The panther "Cuckoo" was named so because it was the odd bird in the nest.

A tragic tale of a Battleship that never was. The Royal Admiratly never realised how much damage they had done. The ship was considered un seaworthy by the Kriegsmarine, arfter so many attacks.. The RN did not know this. It was moved farther north to be used as a floating artillery battery for the forthcoming invasion of Norway! However the task to sink it was handed over to the RAF.Who, as mentioned above used modified Lancasters with Barnes Wallis's Tallboy "earth quake " bombs. Not so much a direct hit, but a near miss will do. A similar effect to jumping in a bath too quick. A wave or sunami occured in the narrow fjord, and the ship turned turtle. Many crew were trapped inside to their peril. An example of the thickness of the armour plate of the hull, is on show at Duxford museum.

All good comments, thanks. Food for thought, something I got to experiment with for effect, cost ,ease of use etc. Thanks for the replies dudes.

Probably not one for the artistes out there, but I like Tamiya's range of colours. I have experimented with dionised water, with odd results. Vallejo works well with it though. However Tamiya X-20A in 250ml bottles is back on the scene, or so I have just found out. I paid £6.00 for a 250ml bottle. Comments welcome?

I recently came across some copper sheet "scrap" from an engineering firm.Used for shims and the like? Width is 0.2mm,scaled down to 1\24th would be about 5mm thickness!? Could be hard fitting to the contours of the the bonnet maybe? Just a suggestion.

Just in the interests of science I'm going to try various combinations of the toner, bleach and vinegar. Fortunately I have a gas-mask; fingers crossed the filter it came with is up to phosgene and the like. I wouldn't worry about Phosgene too much! Generally speaking It's R22 refridgerant used in big fridges and cooling systems, then you have to burn it. By the way the bleach and vinigar looks best.

Gappy limb syndrome is best attacked with gluing the limbs untill they set. Then apply plastic putty, such as MMD "fast drying green putty"carefully!? Then teach the little blighter some discipline with a small file, untill his armpits look right. Slap some paint on and ..voila!

You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off! Very nice nielc69. In 1\24th scale too. Ok as it's critique corner, the only thing I don't like is the bonnet straps. Are they decals? If you painted them on 10 out 10. I think some more realistic straps would really set it off.

I don't know a lot about plane kits? If it's rare or out of production the price goes up. Then the manufacturer releases a new batch, prices come back down. Or another manufacturer buys the mould, puts it in a different box and hey nonny no, the same kit. I mention the names of Gunze sangyo/ Dragon / Revell the dearest in that order. Another colaboration is Airfix, Italeri, Heller and Peerless re-boxing the same kit. If it is just down to decals? There must be some specialist decal firms about to convert to a different version?
-
The shopkeeper suggested enamel. So I'll see how I get on with that one.

Sorry to bring this one up again! As I couldn't find the thread I posted on. I have just tried some Model Color black grey vallejo, to get a realistic tire colour. It works! Quite a good matt effect too, even with a brush. I,m also experimenting with some Revell flat matt varnish, mixed with thinners. Will probably use the airbrush with that one. Just like to say thanks for the recent comments and advice on the subject.

This is a scary post! You lot sound like my boss? What are the production figures for this month? Or ,have you seen to be moving lately? Time and motion etc. Model making is an artistic fun thing! I make some good ones, then I make some bad ones. I knocked one of my good ones off the shelf onto the floor recently. It went splat.! I now got to rebuild it. I certainly aint timing myself over the rebuild. Take it easy, It's a hobby.
