  1. Afternoon Smuts that looks really nice already, can't wait to see it finished. I wanted to ask you about the black stand you are using, is that the Tamiya one? Where did you get it if you don't mind me asking.. Cheers Simon
  2. Afternoon Folks how you all doing today? Here are pics of my 1/48 Tamiya Marder. Built OOB I won first place in its category at the East of Scotland show in Dundee in August. first time I've entered a model in competition. I was really chuffed with my certificate, lol. Pride of place on the wall in my man cave Hope you like. All comments, hints/tips/suggestions always welcome Cheers Simon
  3. I've got a great Desert War book in the house with monty in a turretless Honey as a mobile command. Only prob is the pic is at head height so hard to see what if anything was done to interior or turret ring
  4. Paul I bought a tin of it because i heard it gave a good hard seal. Used it on a 1/20 Fujimi Le Mans car and on the body work it was fine but totally ruined the windows
  5. Stoohoo, superb, far superior to my one. I did question when i built mine, how many decals on a 1/72 is too much, but totally agree with you, great little kit to build Jamboseven
  6. I have this kit in the stash, was thinking of building it next. After having a look at your pictures Paul I think i will just keep mine unbuilt in the box
  7. Hi folks thanks for all you great comments on my build. I made a mistake with Photobucket, totally all my own fault. Thought I was being smart moving my pictures into seperate folders on there. Didn't know the problems it would cause here. so anyway here was the first pics and now over weekend I have fitted oil drum into the front bin. Started fitting out the turret basket as well. I can't recommend the sets i got from Accurate Armour any more highly. The aerials really set it off, plus you get 6 in a pack for under £8 The modern British Army set is great as well, if i mind correctly it was the same price as the aerials and you get around 15 different Rucksacks, packs, helmets, camo net. However I never knew that British DPM would/could be so difficult to paint. I hope it looks ok. I'm going to spend most of this week finishing this off Cheers Simon
  8. Sorry guys I moved my pics into folders on photobucket rather than all being in the same one. Think that must have caused the problem Hopefully reappeared here now Simon
  9. I was thinking about fishing line but was unsure what guage to get.. Back in the day when as a wee boy my dad was building models to hang off my bedroom ceiling, thread was ok for the wire but i can picture the grief i would get if i did that now Simon
  10. Just been on Round 2 website: This is what they now have advertised.... 1:350 U.S.S. Enterprise 1701A Decal Set Item No: MKA001 Release Date: October 2010 Huge decals to fill a huge demand! The U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701A as seen in Star Trek: The Motion Picture was originally painted various shades of pearlescent paints to give the smooth ship a paneled look. The patterns created were intricate and iconic and is the standard by which modelers compare their own attempts at the ship. Since the first announcement of the 2009 release of the 1:350 scale Enterprise A, modelers have been clamoring for the Aztec panel decals it contained so they could incorporate them into the kits already sitting on their shelves. Round 2 has heard their plea and is now delivering to the delight of large scale modelers everywhere. •Scale: 1/350 •5 HUGE (approx. 15” x 15”) sheets •4 sheets of Aztec decals used in the 2009 1:350 Enterprise 1701A release •1 NEW sheet created specifically for this set with alternate ship names and registry numbers •Engineering colors in blue, gray (onscreen appearance), and green •Detailed application instructions I can see no pricing though Simon
  11. Hi folks here is my work in progress 112 Squadron Tomahawk II Not the happiest with the Azure blue.. I think it's too dark so any opinions would be helpful. I went with the Humbrol version but I've read there are other better shades out there? Plus what do you guys use for the radio wire? It's a 1/48 scale kit and any picture i have, shows the tomahawk with the wires running from on top of the wing tips to the tail. I think it looks a bit bare without them. Cheers Simon
  12. Afternoon Folks here is my IDF Merkava III OOB As usual with an academy kit it does go together really nice. But struggled to get a set of the Legend resin turret basket & rear bins set to make it look a bit more lived in. I tried tin foil, tissue etc, etc but was never really happy with how it looked so thought better to leave them empty Simon
  13. Morning Chally, your bang on about the turret bin and the tightness of the tracks. There was a few choice sweary words when they went on. There was a bit of movement in the suspension arm the rear wheel mounts on. If I build another I will make sure i have the rear arm pushed as far forward as i can just to give me that wee bit of slack for fitting the tracks
  14. That front bin is huge.. The academy kit is only able to take one oil container. It's also on the thick side. Those pics Mark show the front bin to be actually quite thin sidewalls on it. really didn't expect that
  15. Cheers Malc, thanks for helping me out. I have some questions if you don't mind. 1.) What was proper colour for the fire extingushers? I found 2 pics with red ones and one with green? 2.) What was kept in the turret basket? 3.) is it both grills on the side that got dirty or just the bigger one? Hope you can help Cheers Simon Whats is the
  16. Julien your a bloody star. I typed that accurate armour in and then though that ain't right. I knew it was accurate something or other... Cheers mate Simon
  17. 541 Squadron was formed on 19th October, 1942, being drawn from 'B' and 'F' Flights of the PRU at Benson. It's main equipment at the time of 'D-Day' were Spitfire XI's, X's and XIX, and these were supplemented, in early June 1944, by three Mustang III's, serial numbers FX855, FX952, and HB837. These were converted for PR use, with oblique cameras mounted in the radio compartment, and near the rear of the radiator outlet, both facing port, and were fitted with the 'Malcolm' hood, and retained the armament of four .50 cal Brownings. The aircraft were used for Photo Recce work to provide 'up to the minute' pictures of the beach head and battle area, and beyond, serving throughout the summer, eventually 'retiring' in April, 1945. They where converted Just before D-Day so by all accounts it was a real rush job. I knew nothing about them till last summer and R.J Caruana did a whole load of RAF Mustang variants in the Model Airplane International. I did mine as FX855 but i was told by one of the Flak bait guys at our club that they may have been used without the codes in the short term and once it calmed down they had them repainted.
  18. Thanks Richard, I keep leaving the sprue brothers website open on my girlfriends pc... I really want the Dragon Firefly hybrid hull. Hopefully 'Santa' will get the hint simon
  19. Afternoon Arnaud I agree with what you say about it looking more like dust rather than mud but I was worried that if I made the dirt too dark I would have too much of a contrast and make the white look too stark. I'm not finished with it yet so might go over it again. Any suggestions for making it look dirtier? Simon
  20. I spoke to a former Canadian soldier when i first started building this model and he was telling me that we he was serving over in Bosnia that even if our Warriors where totally clean, within minutes they just seemed to attract the muck... On the subject of aerials I have the accurate armour set to fit so got the flags for them as well. I also have the drum of oil as well but not sure what colour its meant to be... I bought the Accurate armour modern British pack set as well. You get some amount of rucksacks, packs, webbing, helmets etc all for less than a tenner.... Thinking I will go for the AFV Club Simitar next. UN markings as well
  21. How long before you get a resin udder set for it.....
  22. Lovely little kit.. To be a bit sad here..My girlfriends Uncle owns the company that makes the tracks for these things... He told me last year that some nugget at the MOD called him and asked if he could do the tracks in white rubber. He asked why and the nugget told him 'Well we are finding the black tracks are leaving marks on the floor'..... Ok so you are worried about black marks on the floor or the deaths of British soldiers??? Idiots
  23. Hi Folks currently waiting to fit the Accurate Armour carbon fibre ariels and equipment set. 1/35 Academy kit, Goes together fine, no interior. so it's a fairly rapid build. Turret basket is a bloomin' pain though. It's really difficult to find pictures of Warriors in Bosnia online, It's actually difficult to find anything of us in Bosnia in the UN markings, I was getting the feeling it was an episode best forgotten Simon
  24. guys from IPMS Dundee and myself had a discussion about this. Tamiya seems to be at the moment concentrating on early WW2 stuff. Char B, Renault UE.....now a 1935 BT-7. Maybe we can expect in 10 yrs time they will have worked there way back to 1918... A decent Whippet in 1/35 would look really good, or its between the wars how about those big multi turreted things the British & Russians had... Simon
