Stunning model mate, really looking forward to you finishing this off Jambo

Morning Guys, looking for some paint advice. I recently bought some Mr Hobby 'metal' paints from MDC. Cracking paint, really does look the part when you buff it up. My only problem is that the paint brushes are a 'one shot' at the moment. Not sure what is the best product to clean my brushes out with when using these paints.... Any suggestions please? Simon

morning Wayne, I've got mine built up now, currently at the paint stage. I got away with some plasticard for the wing gap. First time I've used it so quite chuffed with the result. Watch for that intake build up though... I had a choice few sweary words with that... Simon

Superb, looks brilliant. What did you use for the mud on the base? Simon

Cheers Guys I know what I have M3 Grant M4A3 M4A4 M-7 Priest M-12 So now need to fill in the gaps. Got to try and find a Sherman Easy eight as well simon

Looking good so far, can't wait to see it finished.. I'd like to ask a question though, Is it really worth the money Dragon want for it? The cheapest I have seen it is £116.99. Does it move 1/350 Ship kits on enough to justify the high cost? Simon

My god, how old are these molds.... My dad built this and I think nearly all the other Matchbox ones in this scale for me, when i was like 5....I'm 36 now. I always liked the firefly on the broken bridge or the churchill bridge layer.. Does this one still come with the french wall? Simon

Evening gents, just bought the academy kit of the M-12 today. I'm trying to build up a bit of a collection based on the M3/M4 Chassis so I need to fill in the gaps of which kits are available. M3 Lee M3 Grant M4A1 M4A2 M4A3 M4A4 M-12 So does anybody know what other kits are out there based on this chassis? cheers Simon

Cheers for comments guys. If anybody else is interested in building IDF armour I also recommend Concord book Merkava I, II, III. Israel's Chariot of Fire. by Samuel M. Katz. I have been informed the turret basket and rear baskets are only filled or have their canvas covers on when they are in Israel. Any time they 'wander' into Palestine or Beruit they empty the baskets because they are a fire risk..... Simon

Looking forward to how you get on building these. I am currently finishing off the Flying Razor backs version Few points for you to look out for mate. 1.) Watch when you fit the wings. The wing to fuselage fit is poor. Bit of a gap.. 2.) The build up of the intake isn't the easiest. Took ages trying to get the step out of the inside of it. 3.) Intake to fuselage requires a bit of filling and rubbing down to get them blended together. 4.) Same goes for engine to fuselage.

www.modelhobbies.co.uk have the Harrier for £40.49 the F-18 is....£64.79

Hasegawa really are joking on these prices.... Have you seen the price they want in UK for the HE 111Z.....in 1/72 scale. I ordered mine from Lucky model and even including postage was still £20 cheaper.

Lovely model Manu, how did the Zveda kit go together? Is it worth building it? Simon -
Oh my god....I have seen some great models but that is immense

Cheers for getting back to me about the stand Andy and panzer is getting better with every pic, really looking forward to you getting chance to finish it Simon

Thanks guys it was the first time i was trying un thinned oil. Humbrol panzer grey, couple of coats of Klear and then white oil paint. Flat brush dipped in white spirit. Wiped the excess white spirit off the brush and sort of reverse dry brushed to try and get that worn white wash look. I was trying to get that worn end of winter, first hint of spring thaw look Simon

Thanks for great comments guys. If anybody else is thinking of building a Merkava, I recommend the Tankograd book 'Merkava' by Marsh Gelbart great colour and black and white pics throughout of all four marks of Merkava

Nice model mike have you seen the DDG1000 Zumwalt class ship that is based on this? Its got the similar Tumblehome hull which is meant to be poor handling in heavy seas jambo -
Bosnia 1995 Warrior Updated pics
jamboseven replied to jamboseven's topic in Work in Progress - Armour
Hi Malc, I've actually finished it now and won this month competion with it at IPMS Dundee club meet. Repainted the jerry cans black after a few folk on here commented on them. It was up against a couple of nice WW2 tanks and a load of flak bait so was quite chuffed it won. I'll hopefully have finished pics on it on here tomorrow so you can tell me what you think of it finished. I'm gonna build another one, probably the Iraq version and put crew in that. There is nothing at all inside the original Academy Warrior kit for the crew to sit/stand on but hopefully somebody on here can tell me if there is any interior in the updated kit.... But having bought stuff from Accurate Armour for this one I'm gonna go back to them for a crew set. I would buy AA's interior set but it's £42... Simon -
Well if you want to know where you can buy MOD stuff http://www.mod-sales.com/ they had complete unused Tornado nose cones last month for £250.... Maybe if they sell off the stuff rather than scrap it all us modellers could buy it cheap just to keep in the 'stash'

Hi there total agree with the arguements on this story but here are some more points for you 1.) Lusty currently in Roysth Dockyard for a non refit 'refit'. Her funnel is knackered so needs totally replaced. 500,000 litrs of paint for her hull to make her go thro the water faster. replacement of all her outdated wiring, plumbing etc. 2.) Steam catapults on US Carriers are only something like 2% efficent. An electro magnetic launch would be more like the system they tried fitting in Formula 1 cars last season. Stored energy thro ship movement etc, and released when needed. 3.) American went to war in Vietnam with fast jets and found that having really fast jets aren't very good at bombing half a dozen guys in a hole in the jungle or staying on station for hours on end. What did they do.. go hunting for every old Skyraider they could find. Slower, harder punching, able to get down close and dirty. So who made the decision to get rid of Harrier and keep Tornado which is being replaced by Typhoon anyway? From contacts at RAF Leuchers I am told the Tornado's are rotten. The aircraft have aged so badly that there are spending more and more being fixed than flying. The harrier was designed from the start to have no runway, poor conditons. It's engine, fuselage, undercarriage where all designed for a conflict like Afghanistan. Sure it ain't the fastest but at least it can get down where is it needed. 4.) Both QE and Prince of Wales where designed to be retrofitted with catapults after removal of the ski jump. That was one of the reasons it took so long to design them. 5.) I agree on the removal of trident. Why not redesign the remaining Astute Class boats with Tomahawk vertical lauchers between the two hulls? I'll probably think of more points as I get more wound up about the stupid desicions from a couple of days ago Simon

M3 Stuart Honey - new pictures added
jamboseven replied to Paul A H's topic in Ready for Inspection - Armour
Hi Paul with regards the command/turretless version of the Honey, I found a pdf file on WW2talk website which shows the hatch fitted over the turretless hole with either a 50 or 30 cal. By all accounts taking the turret off them lower the profile and made them fly along... Simon -
Now that is very nice Simon

Cheers John I know the scrim bands on the helmets are not correct but was worried I'd screw up the resin trying to cut them off or damage the moulded on goggles. Any idea why there are so few UN pics? I left a message in a previous post that it was like we where embarressed to admit we might have been in Bosnia. Simon
