  1. Outstanding! Thank you for 'freshening up' your Elephant and supplying its most interesting history!

    BE12

I've done both a B.E.12a and B.E.12b. The 12a was done years ago, and used a vacuformed fuselage with modified R.E.8 wings, as described by Pheonix above. Much easier now to use an Airfix B.E.2c kit as a base. The 12b was mostly that kit with a resin nose from the HR Models kit and new tailplanes. Still intend to do a standard B.E.12 and round out this trio someday. Not sure which variant was used by 17 Sqn, but I would say all are quite doable as conversions from that new Airfix kit... Cheers Herb
  3. Excellent work! And the quote by M. Lewis says it all about this early 'kite'....
  4. Excellent! Simply excellent! Don't deprive us of any future accomplishments!
  5. Excellent! Thanks Richard!
  6. Thanks David, I've since learned that the Jags provided laser designation for some Harrier GR.7s, as well as perhaps being loaded with two GP bombs on centerline for their own targets during those operations. The PHIMAT/ALQ-101 load seems almost standard. Not sure if overwing AIM-9s loaded at that time. Still looking for further confirmation if anyone can add...
  7. I'm looking for typical loadouts for RAF Jaguars operating over Bosnia and the Former Republic of Yugoslavia during the late 90's. Can anyone help? Also hoping to confirm the overall ARTF gray... Cheers Herb
  8. The definitive XP6Y-1 in this scale! Work on all others may cease!
  9. This is the Joystick vac kit. It built up quickly, with lots of room in the cockpit for plausible jiggery. Did my best to replicate the Eteve gun mount with wire and plastic. Some left over Russian roundels from Blue Rider and a homemade serial for the rudder. Cheers Herb
  10. Quick question for the Jaguar aficionados: What are the sizes and types of applicable drop tanks? Between French and RAF aircraft I think I may be seeing differences in centerline types versus wing drops, and also perhaps different fin configurations? But it's subtle, if there at all. Any help appreciated! Cheers Herb
  11. Thanks Dave, that's an excellent reference that does help a lot...!
  12. Nice photo, that looks like the type...
  13. Thanks Ted and Melvyn, Excellent references, although I believe they're images of the "Scarff" gun mount. Equally useful, though, as many subjects used that apparatus. Cheers Herb
  14. Thanks gentlemen, will pursue these leads...
  15. Anyone have a decent picture or view of an Etévé gun mount? I'm lead to believe that's what was used on the Morane Saulnier 'P', but I'm having trouble determining its general configuration... Cheers Herb

    1/72 B.E.12b

The HR Models resin B.E.12b is not bad, but I found the Airfix B.E.2c kit much easier to work with so I made this combination of the two kits. Not too much to say, a relatively straightforward build... Cheers Herb
  17. Wow! Wonderful job on a very difficult kit. I bought one, and then thought perhaps carving a bar of soap would be a better starting point. Amodel has released a somewhat better kit in this scale, but has its own "limitations". You've gotten the best results with the worst material!
  18. Lovely job. That's a paint scheme many have tried, but you've achieved the best result!
  19. Wonderful job! Congratulations on bringing it successfully across the finish line!
