  1. RAF Mines dropped from bombers were approximately 9 feet long by 17 inches in diameter (including a wood or metal fairing). Weighing in at around 1,500 pounds (680 kg), each mine held 750 pounds (340 kg) of amatol or minol explosive. As mines were often dropped close to one another, a device was attached that prevented mines being detonated by one exploding nearby. http://www.rcaf434squadron.com/gardening/ Selwyn
  2. The F6 did not have a gunpack, the only aircraft marks that had gunpacks were the F1, F2, F2A. The F6 had two guns mounted in the front portion of the ventral fuel tank.It was not a separate gun pack. Selwyn
  3. He would answer but he's a little tied up at the moment! Selwyn
  4. I assume you mean the issue you have is from 1986, The kit was originally issued in 1970! Selwyn
  5. IIRC the addition of the semicircular plates on the trailing edges of Mk1 made them 1A. Selwyn
  6. A build of THIS kit. Had it in the stash for a while, so a good oppertunity to get it done. shots of sprues and things in the link. Selwyn
  7. The ones with "Remove before Flight" on them are American and not generally used on UK Jets. You will see them on the safety devices of American weapons such as sidewinders in UK service but never on pylons. If the original US RBF flag is damaged it will be usually replaced with a British red/white RBF flag. Selwyn
  8. By the way there is no "17th squadron" in the RAF, its "No 17 sqn." We dont use "first second third" terminology we leave that to Americans. Selwyn
  9. They did build a Merlin powered whirlwind it was called the Welkin! Selwyn
  10. Strangely enough I am building a NF11 from the sword kit using bits from an old aeroclub vac form NF11! Selwyn
  11. IIRC 39 did operate at times a few NF11 to supplement the 13's when there was a shortage of NF13 airframes. Selwyn
  12. The LRMTS on Jaguar was the same equipment as fitted in the Harrier GR3 dolphin nose. Not sure about the one fitted in the Tornado. Selwyn
  13. Its actually nothing to do with laser guided munitions, Its designed to provide a laser range for delivering unguided weapons and and also gives a visual cue in the HUD as to the location of a marked target which is indicated by a ground based troops using a laser marker, again to deliver unguided munitions. A LGB uses a different laser system that actually guides the bomb after release. This can be a aircraft laser designator or ground based. Selwyn
  14. is that the same V1 that came with the Tamiya Meteor? Selwyn
  15. The correct colour is BS381c 355 Lemon yellow. Selwyn
  16. Caribbean? I thought limbo dancing was invented by a Scotsman trying to get under the door of a pay toilet! Selwyn
  17. A possibility you may be taking the"P" there? Selwyn
  18. For info, That is just the blast suppressor fitted on the end of the barrel. Selwyn
  19. You are looking at something tiny, 30mm calibre works out to 0.41mm in 1/72 so you are looking at less than 1mm external diameter of the barrel in 1/72. I would go for a hypodermic needle as well but even that is probably oversize! Selwyn
  20. Converting a 1/48 Spitfire1 into a nice pink PR version, and having to drill the camera port in the hatch behind the cockpit. Anybody tell me the diameter of the circular camera port? Selwyn
  21. Early marks used the Mk2 later Marks the 3H, depends what you are building. As tony says above the two seats are visually very similar, it wouldn't surprise me if the 3H seats were actually Mk2 modified up to 3 standards. Selwyn
  22. Typical RN, create a bung and intake blank set per aircraft, and then spend ages paint marking matching them to the aircraft, and then put them on the wrong jet! Selwyn Running for cover and giggling!
