  1. Nice. I've been thinking of getting a NextGen for a while now. A couple of purchases rom last weekend's Bolton show. P1060194 by timothy jones, on Flickr P1060193 by timothy jones, on Flickr
  2. At the moment I'm thinking off going on a nostalgia trip with this Toyota Celica. DSCF1754 by timothy jones, on Flickr I built one back in the early 80's, brush painted with Humbrol enamels.
  3. I've got a kit that qualifies or this. He's been in well over 30 films since his debut in 1954 (so 2024 will be his 70th anniversary) and Blue Oyster Cult wrote a song about him.
  4. The instructions say to use Chey engine red or the chassis which I've always thought of as a red/orange shade. Mine might be a bit more orange than it should be but it looks close to the picture of the built up model on the side of the box. The seat has been painted and I risked using the kit decals on it. Luckily they only broke into three pieces each so they look OK from a distance. The seat belt decal was cut out and after the edges were painted black it was glued to the seat, which was then added to the chassis. The seam lines were removed from the headers which were painted and added to the engine. The engine is dry fitted, along wit the wheels. P1060186 by timothy jones, on Flickr As I had the body to hand it was time for a mock up. P1060185 by timothy jones, on Flickr Next steps will be gluing the engine in place and fitting the roll cage.
  5. Back in 1997 I bought the then new Revell1/72 Fw 190A-8/R11, which has sat patiently awaiting its turn since then. I think its time has come at last. 😀
  6. I used Tamiya TS-21 which looks close to the picture on the box. P1060178 by timothy jones, on Flickr The body needs a couple of areas touching up before a clear coat and decals, which I noticed were printed by Cartograf so they should go on OK. On the chassis front the rear suspension was assembled a week or so ago. P1060168 by timothy jones, on Flickr Since then it's been painted and fitted to the floor pan, along with the other suspension parts. P1060181 by timothy jones, on Flickr P1060180 by timothy jones, on Flickr The roll cage has had a few more bits of bracing added and has been painted. Unlike the earlier Monogram NASCAR kits this one has the roll cage padding moulded in so it was just a matter of giving it a coat of matt black. P1060179 by timothy jones, on Flickr With the two week extension I'm confident that I can get it finished in time for it to take its place in the Gallery.
  7. Thanks to the mods or the two week extension, I should be able to get my Monte Carlo finished by the 29th. 😀

  9. I'm not sure how long it normally takes for stuff to arrive from the US but the decals I ordered at the beginning of November arrived yesterday. According to the tracking details on Royal Mail's website they were waiting to leave the US on 15th November and then there was nothing until December 22nd when they magically arrived in Brum so I can only assume that they spent a week or three at the airport. There was a point where I thought they'd got lost in the post so I was quite relieved when they turned up, especially as I'd ordered another couple of sheets for other kits. P1060158 by timothy jones, on Flickr There has been some progress on the kit in the meantime. The engine is finished and was painted in various metallic shades. It just needs to have the headers fitted. P1060104 by timothy jones, on Flickr The radiator has also been assembled, painted and given a black wash. P1060102 by timothy jones, on Flickr Finally or this update, the roll cage has been put together and is ready for paint. P1060101 by timothy jones, on Flickr With just over two weeks to go in this GB I don't know if this'll be finished in time to go in the Gallery but I'll do my best.
  10. Well, that didn't turn out as planned. On the plus side, the base has been painted and the decals added. P1060060 by timothy jones, on Flickr After a trip to my local model shop for a tin of paint the half track was painted and further assembly started, during which I lost a seat, an outer front wheel and an inner wheel to the carpet monster. 🙁 I made a replacement inner wheel from plastic card but the other parts are still AWOL so some crawling on the floor with a torch may be required to find them. Here's how it stands at the moment. P1060141 by timothy jones, on Flickr P1060142 by timothy jones, on Flickr Hopefully I can find the missing parts or possibly try casting replacements.
  11. Great looking paintwork. Good luck with the skinny black lines.
  12. Count me in. I've got plenty of choices for this one., mostly American cars.
