  1. The Comet was my first Matchbox AFV too, nice to see one making an appearance in the GB.
  2. Excellent work on both the Wespe and the base, you'd never think that it used to be desert.
  3. I removed the guns from the turret to apply a bit of filler and sand down the seams. With that done it the guns were reattached, painting completed and it was fitted into the half track. 4. Great work so far, the extra detail makes a lot of difference.
  5. They've come together quickly. Looking good.

  7. Thanks for the paint info Chris. I've bought a tin of 173 and it looks a lot better than the dark earth. DSCF2992 by timothy jones, on Flickr I 've also made a start on the turret although I think I should have sanded down the seams before adding the guns. DSCF2993 by timothy jones, on Flickr More soon.
  8. Just caught up with this one. Great job on both models, they go together well.
  9. Nice work so far Dave. The Gladiator was the first Matchbox kit I ever built when they first came out and I remember it was moulded in the same colours as yours.
  10. I wasn't going to buy any kits for this GB as I have plenty in the stash as it is but that plan didn't last long as while in my local model shop to get some paint I was browsing the shelves (as you do) and came out with this, which nobody has claimed yet. DSCF2995 by timothy jones, on Flickr
  11. Great job so far Tony. Nice to see this getting a new lease of life.
  12. Thanks Chris. Progress has been quick today and the half track has been painted, sub assemblies stuck together and the wheels added. DSCF2989 by timothy jones, on Flickr DSCF2988 by timothy jones, on Flickr The track bed on the base has been painted a couple of shades of grey to look more like stone ballast and the slleepers have been painted dark earth, which looks a bit too light so I may go over them with a darker shade. 13. Looking good Ratch and a good save on the tracks. I've got an M3 Stuart that has the same problem.
  14. Great job so far, I hope you can find the right shade of blue for it. IIRC this was the first Matchbox car kit I built.
  15. Excellent work on the cockpit interior. This brings back some memories as I remember buying one on Saturday afternoon and building it (without paint) while watching Tom Baker as The Doctor in The Brain of Morbius, which would put it in January '76.
  16. A week into the GB so time for an update. Work began by assembling the body, interior and chassis as three sub assemblies. DSCF2973 by timothy jones, on Flickr The base has been assembled and given a coat of paint which now looks similar to the original colours of the kit's plastic. DSCF2971 by timothy jones, on Flickr
  17. Off to a good start. I've got the same kit so I'll be watching this one.
