  1. Looks great, Dave. I've become a recent fan of the Ford and got it's big 1/48 scale Tamiya brother for an online build later this year. Considering it's the ONLY pure interceptor the Navy ever had and the ONLY Naval aircraft to serve in a NORAD capacity, ya gotta love it!
  2. Of all the Brit jet aircraft, I just love the Lightning the most. Somehting about those stacked twin engines.
  3. Just noticed this thread. Katseas is my shipmodeling hero. He's one he posted at the end of last December of the USS Hornet on the Doolittle raid. http://www.modelshipgallery.com/gallery/cv...k/kk-index.html
  4. I had never seen any of the 'Anatomy of the Ship' books before and could not believe the level of detail it had. I had to get one for my St Croix (Campeltown) project as well.
  5. Yes, early bridge type. I've found several conversion projects other people have done so I at least have plenty of reference on what and how to do. I just got the Revell HMS Campbeltown kit for converting into the HMCS St Croix - a project after the Spikenard.
  6. Wow, I new about the 1/48 kit but didn't know about a 1/32! I can't wait to see this. Have any ship in mind for it to be representative of?
  7. Cheap is a relative term. I bought this out of impulse while on a cruise ship in the Saint Lawrence Seaway. Prince Edward Island was a port of call and one of the shops at the terminal had a book on Flower Class Corvettes. I picked up a copy, started reading that evening on the ship and the next day I went to the ship's library and used the internet access there to search ebay for a Revell 1/72 Corvette. I think I got it for just under $80.00(US), including the shipping. It was waitning for me when I got home
  8. One of my reference sources for this project. Great site on the subject. And yeah, she is big! Easy to work on for fat fingers. She'll be the first of my 1/72 navy with at Type VIIC, PT-109 and a Gato.
  9. Here's where essentially I'm beginning this build from. I started it last February and did not get beyond the basic hull. I'll be making her into the short fo'c'sle version HMCS Spikenard.
  10. having just acquired a Revell HMS Campbeltown, I've already got next year's subject for a BOA build: The HMCS ST Croix. But I'm anxious to start my Spikenard. I've got from the 22nd to the 3rd off so I hope to get a lot accomplished done in that time.
  11. The EE Lightning has always been my favorite Brit jet fighter but the more I see of the Vixen the more I want to get this kit! Looking good, GP.
  12. Wow, beautifully done. I just bought the FA6 version kit of Ebay and want to do it as a Jordanian hunter. Your work here is very inspirational.
  13. Great! I need an excuse to do my Revell 1/72 Gato conversion to the Tambor Class boat, Tautog. I'm in.
  14. I tried starting a 'Battle of The Atlantic' build over at the Fine Scale Modeler forum at the beginning of the year but life just kept me from actual building. I love this subject so I'm going to give it a run again, here. I have a 1/72 Flower Class Corvette from Revell that I want to convert to the HMCS Spikenard as she was at the time she was sunk off Iceland. I've collected all the research material (and a copy of 'The Cruel Sea off ebay) and had gotten as far as getting the 4 hull pieces glues together but never got back to it. Here's my chance again. I know I've got to cut the focsle back for it to be like the Spikenard.
