Lindberg right ahead! USS McNulty destroyer escort 1/535
Col. replied to danbuoy's topic in The Salty Sea Dog GB
Cool. I'm guessing paintwork will take longer than construction if the fit is good? -

Can't recall ever seeing a model of this type before so like @vppelt68 I'll be watching your progress of this target with interest -
I'm just thinking this kit of the AOP is now old enough to be an OAP

Those gun mounts were a complicated bit of engineering. Hopefully they don't take a knock during subsequent handling Pete.

Are you leaving all the port side doors and access hatches open Steve? -

Interesting subject choice Dan. Hopefully all of the (what, 24?) bits fit together well. -
More tidy work That photo from Sinkex 98 is rather informative as to not only how extensive the damage from a single missile strike can be but also that the ship is still afloat. Testimony to the effectiveness of both designs perhaps.

While there's photos out there of the AEW2 Shacks with their bay doors open I've no idea what they'd have carried within it. The crew's golf bags perhaps?

Cheesecloth? I have a suspicion that I know what this is for but will watch your progress and see how you eventually employ it and all those other aftermarket goodies

More phenomenally fine work there Ray -
You'll be grand Gavin. I don't currently have time to work on a kit so you're one up on me already

The wing camouflage and markings certainly look great. Nice work. -

This GB really is a gift that keeps on giving and here you are with another subject I doubt we would have had the pleasure of seeing otherwise- 11 replies

Nice progress Chris This one makes for an interesting comparison with @Creepy Pete's EKA-3B Skywarrior in the SSD GB. -
Grumman's short-lived, supersonic, salty, single-seater: DONE!

Welcome to the GB and with my all-time favourite aircraft as well

Airfix Westland Sea King Commando HU4, 1/72nd scale...
Col. replied to heloman1's topic in The Salty Sea Dog GB
Your paintwork looks suitably and subtly patchy and faded so I'd call that a win Colin Hope you've shaken off whatever was ailing you now? -
Nicely done

Good to see this one underway Pete. Particularly like that chill-out lounge behind the busy bit but how much of this will be seen with the fuselage halves closed around it and the canopies in place?
-
Having never seen any subject modelled in this manner I'd say you're forging a fresh path with this one. It's the type of model I'd expect to see mounted in a glass case proudly displayed as a center-piece of a maritime museum with information placards detailing the life of the subject as shown by the stages you're creating. While I don't know your mental image of how you wanted this one to look what I can tell you is that it looks bloody good.

Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I PR Type B, KP Models, 1/72
Col. replied to 2996 Victor's topic in Reconnaissance and Scouting GB
Reading around on the subject a few years ago got me confused but with the impression all the designations got so messy and confusing even for those working with the real machines they brought in the Mk. IV designation to help tidy things up a bit. Do you have a bulged canopy hood for this one? -
