    Nice progress and it's good to see the flashes of colour on this one now Miss-timed my own ride after stopping to speak with a friend and got home a few minutes after the finish The result wasn't what I expected so hopefully catch the highlights later.

    That's a lot of work to simply correct the kit parts before really getting started on the construction but the subject deserves it

    Thanks again Pete. I'll bookmark your link and be returning to it frequently. The Beau was certainly a tough machine! Thank you James. It's taken some time to get this far but been an enjoyable process. Part of the fun in our hobby for me is learning more about the subject and how it worked.

    Thank you Pete. From what I've read the fuselage roundel proportions changed shortly after the mission so perhaps the code letter was changed at the same time? It's a shame there isn't more options available and particularly for RAF crew figures throughout history. I do miss the figures coming with kits like they used to.

    Thanks Matt. There's another Tamiya kit and an Airfix 72nd scale one to do as Mk.X but I'm holding off making progress on those 'til I see how much (or little) of the interior detail can be seen. Doing all that work to have it disappear once will be disappointing but to do it three times will be foolish. The figures were with the kit but much modified by cutting to reposition their pose and augmented to suit. Fully agree with you that PJ Productions crew figures will be missed and an alternative source is needed for those of us who like adding the human factor to a model.

    I've almost finished doing the Fine Molds kits as a What-if interwar US Navy seaplane fighter and it's a nice kit. Perhaps the x-2 refers to the choice of two colour schemes?

    Thank you. Thant's a good point. So far as I'm aware the mission took part on an overcast day so visibility would not have been optimal for flying at rooftop height.

How much longer we'll be able to see any of it concerns me but there's only one way to find out Once the fuselage halves are together I'm hoping the pace of progress will accelerate and the weather warm up sufficiently once the point comes to begin spraying the exterior colours but there's likely a few more rounds of winter's last throes to come yet before spring settles in.

    Perhaps they were testing the effects of the brakes on the aircraft's performance and handling characteristics while the photo was being taken?

    The interior is almost ready to be closed once the instrument dials are added With hindsight I realise that Ken Gatward would likely have been flying with his goggles over his eyes rather than on his forehead but fear if I spend any more time poking at bits of this kit it'll never get finished.

    Weeeeeelllllll, there was a Bell X-3 and T-38 caught me by surprise while looking at some F-5E/F/N kits, an F-14 (or, ahem, three), several F-15, at least five English Electric Lightning, a Sea Vixen, A-10 (but I'm trying to get an STGB sorted for them next year), F-117, Eurofighter Typhoon, Rafale, MiG-25 and -29, Tornado, Mil-24, Westland Puma and Lynx, Sea King (if helicopters are eligible), Su-15 and -27, SEPECAT Jaguar, many Buccaneer... the list continues but sure it's the same for all of us.
