  1. Hi , great build. Just thought I would let you Know that I have some great photos of V boats that I can send you that show a number of current details applicable to the class that unfortunately are not included in the kit. On the subject of hull colours I can confirm that the kit instructions are wrong and that the hull is one colour albeit very weathered and then of course there are the tiles Happy modeling! ( My son is crew on board a V boat and I have been lucky enough to have been on board a couple with the best visit being last year when I was able to see his boat out of the water in the ship lift at Faslane. The Rhu Narrows are a great vantage point for boats going in and out of the base ,they pass no more than 50yrds in front of you!)
  2. Hi Nigel. Not entirely sure if Jecobin did any plans for an S boat but from what I have seen there is not much diff in general appearance between S and T's. I believe that there is a diff of 8ft in length but at 350 scale I dont think it would be very noticable. The most obvious diff is the hight of the rudder ( S boats being shorter ) and the form of propulsion , prop/propulsor. All S and T boats differ from each other in detail when you study photo's mianly in tile distribution ( or lack of!! lol ) and fin detail so probably best to get a good photo and replicate it as best poss. OOPs forgot to mention to remember the decoy launch tubes below and to the rear of the fin that have been missed on the kit.
  3. Whoops.....remember that 1% of doubt!!!! The inside of the tubes are "off white" / pale cream in colour with black rubber seals. In 350 scale I would prob just tone down white with a touch of tan. Hope this helps. If you need any detail images of a V boat I some of one going through the Rhu narrows in the summer.
  4. Nice build. Just a word on the lower hull colour, as you thought it is too light as the boat appears to be the same colour all over when out of the water however somewhat weathered in appearance. All RN boats are challenging mind you as they all appear heavily weathered most of the time , except Astute at the mo.
  5. 99% certain they are white. but will see if I can make that 100% if you can give me a couple of days to check.
  6. Hello again, Hi Ian / Dave. Regarding the mod, if you look at the casing along the length of the Missile compartment you will see the addition of some heavy duty plating covering the area from the waterline to the edge of the hatch covers. When you compare the older images earlier in the thread ( the ones with the tugs are best ) you will see the difference with the ones taken last week ( especialy the rear 3/4 view ). The vast majority of photos on the web are older pictures and dont show this fit. All V boats have had this extra plating added, its purpose is to strengthen the area around the missile tubes ( remember the USS Cole ) With ref to the colour of the hull take your pick they vary in just about every shade of grey from anthracite to med grey, the tiles age at diff rates and are replaced as they are damaged or fall off. I was lucky enough to get a tour of HMS Vengeance whilst she was out of the water in the ship lift at Faslane and would say that she was the same colour all over and not two tone as the painting guide in the kit shows. Sorry no photos as a strict no camera rule was in place. When I have finished my build I will post some photos that will show some of the detail that I obseved and am including in my model. Hope this helps, if anyone would like further images just drop me a note, great site by the way , looking forward to resuming my modeling.

  8. Cheers , it is all becoming clear now! Will sort out an account and get posting asap. Hold on for the photos as the mod is very obvious.
  9. Hi all, can someone pm me as to how to upload images from my computer to the site as I have some interesting images of HMS Vangaurd taken last week showing the mod to the casing if an up to date model is to be constructed. Many thanks, Craig.
