  1. My son has been described as a "sundodger" or a "bubblehead" as he is a submariner......everyone else of course being ...Targets!
  2. Yesterday,4 Typhoons in a diamond formation fairly low, looked like they had come over the Forth from Edinburgh and heading home to Leuchars.
  3. You can also try googling Ships AIS. Similar site. Its interesting ....if you study some of the movements on the Clyde you can actually "spot" the movements of and whereabouts of SSBN'S as they come and go, the boats themselves do not transmit but the attendant tugs do and if you have seen them live then you will be aware that they operate in certain formations when escorting the boats up the Clyde and into the Gareloch.
  4. Might be wrong here, it has been known! but I was under the impression that the wheel arches were plastic on LR's, also I am assuming that the chipped paint shows primer and not rust as are LR's not aluminium? Still looks good tho!
  5. Wreckage and sadly bodies were spread over many miles.....friends of my sister have a hill farm in the area and evidence of both were scattered over their land, a horrific sight they will never forget. Granted we may never know all the facts but cant see the controlled decent and shallow approach being anything other than absurd.
  6. Looks a nice kit. Would be great however if someone could come in with a mod to enable you to build an up to date version with the side plating around the missile tubes, all the boats are now fitted with these.
  7. Ah well just goes to show you cant please everyone all of the time.....Does not look too bad to me, much better than grey. Its all about opinions of course and it would be a very boring world if we all agreed on everything To the guys in the paint shop....Thanks! your efforts are much appreciated .
  8. Mind if I join in? Need to find a subject but will prob be FAA Swordfish or Walrus or..........mmmm let me think on that
  9. Thanks for that Phil, I am sure a few scans wont be a problem, I am hopeful of some photos from family members in India. Craig.
  10. Hi all, Not sure where to post this but thought I would try here. I have a friend who's father flew MiG 21's with the IAF in the seventies ( 3sqd, Cobra's ). Sadly he is no longer with us but I would like to build a representative model of the aircraft he flew starting with the classic soviet warbird. Does anyone know of or can you suggest the best 1:48 scale kit to form the basis of the build, idealy with IAF markings or am I being to optimistic. Any pointers would be great , thanks.
  11. Any 1950/60's FAA aircraft. 1:48. HMS Ark Royal / HMS Eagle or any post war carrier 1:350 scale.
  12. Might get some info here , also some links, covers ships and aircraft. http://www.fleetairarmarchive.net/
  13. Nice job ! I like the splatter on the hull, nothing better than a grubby AFV ! A tip for the tyres would be to darken the gray a bit and to put a slightly darker shade on the tread as this is in contact with the road surface and is in effect scrubbed as the wheel turns. Keep up the good work !
  14. It may be worth contacting WnW again to see if they will replace the item. I am in retail and regularly send customers items by post and on the odd occasion when an item goes missing we replace it. The view we take is that until its signed for its our responsibility the contract to buy has not been completed and we take the hit, its called good customer service and well worth the cost as it protects our reputation. Good luck, hope you get it sorted. Craig.
  15. Sorry Monty the link leads to a Type 23 Frigate, is it the correct link? Craig.
  16. Currently scratch building one as my son served on HMS Campbeltown in 2002 his first draft , I have scaled down Jeacobin plans if thats any help.
  17. Hi , I saw one that was brought along to my local club meet last month and it looked brilliant , very crisp and sharp.
  18. Just wondering if anyone out there can confirm the shade of gray that these a/c carried, would it be LAG. Also the band on the rear fuselage appears to be all shades of red through to orange / yellow depending on which photo you look at , would I be correct in assuming it was red as applied and faded with age.
  19. Thanks guys for your help, looks like a tt18 would be the best bet. I am going to use the B2 Airfix kit for this are there any issues I need to consider ?
  20. Hi all , I am looking to build a Canberra in Royal Navy colours but have had little success finding profiles on line , does anyone know where I could find any. Many thanks
  21. OOB as its what he instructed.
  22. Hi all, Dont know if anyone else has had this problem but on closer inspection ( after starting my build ! ) I have noticed that the moulding of one of the lower outer wing panels is incomplete (part 1A ). Just sent an email so hopefully a replacement will be on the way asap. Still looking forward to putting this kit together . Fly Navy!
